  • Inventory, cost, and the level of service are three interrelated key metrics that most supply chain organizations are striving to optimize. One way to achieve this goal is to create a simulation model to conduct sensitivity analysis and optimization on several different supply chain policies that can be implemented in actual operation. In this paper, a case of Xerox global supply chain modeling and analysis to assess several "what if" scenarios for the consumable policy safety stock is presented. The simulation model, combined with analytical cost model and optimization module, is used to optimize the policy safety stock level to achieve the lowest total value chain cost. It was shown quantitatively that the policy safety stock can be reduced, but it is offset by the inbound premium transportation cost to expedite supplies in shortage, and the outbound premium transportation cost to send supplies to customers via express shipment, requiring fine balance.

  • The semiconductor industry, which relies on global supply chains, has recently been facing longer lead time for material procurement due to supply chain uncertainties. Moreover, since increasing customer satisfaction and reducing inventory costs are in a trade-off relationship, it is challenging to determine the appropriate safety stock level under demand and lead time uncertainties. In this paper, we propose a framework for determining safety stock levels by utilizing the optimization method to determine the optimal safety stock level. Additionally, we employ a linear regression method to analyze customer satisfaction scores and inventory costs based on variations in lead time and demand. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed framework, we compared safety stock levels obtained by the regression equations with those of the conventional method. The numerical experiments demonstrated that the proposed method successfully reduces inventory costs while maintaining the same level of customer satisfaction when lead time increases.

  • Given a bill of materials (BOM) tree T labeled by the breadth first search (BFS) order from node 0 to node n and a general network ${\Im}=(V,A)$, where V={1,2,...,m} is the set of production facilities and A is the set of arcs representing transportation links between any of two facilities, we assume that each node of T stands for not only a component. but also a production stage which is a possible stocking point and operates under a periodic review base-stock policy, We also assume that the random demand which can be achieved by a suitable service level only occurs at the root node 0 of T and has a normal distribution $N({\mu},{\sigma}^2)$. Then our integrated model of facility location problems and safety stock optimization problem (FLP&SSOP) is to identify both the facility locations at which partitioned subtrees of T are produced and the optimal assignment of safety stocks so that the sum of production cost, inventory holding cost, and transportation cost is minimized while meeting the pre-specified service level for the final product. In this paper, we first formulate (FLP&SSOP) as a nonlinear integer programming model and show that it can be reformulated as a 0-1 linear integer programming model with an exponential number of decision variables. We then show that the linear programming relaxation of the reformulated model has an integrality property which guarantees that it can be optimally solved by a column generation method.

  • 철도차량은 사용기간이 길고 철로 위를 달리기 때문에 마모, 진동이 심하여 다른 교통수단에 비해 정비비용이 많이 소요된다. 이에 따라 정비최적화는 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 코레일에서 운용하고 있는 철도차량 정비현황을 분석해 보고 개선방안을 찾고자 하였다. 특히, 차량정비인력이 많이 소요되는 일상검수에 대해 가장 효율적인 정비 주기와 방법을 적용하고자 하였다. 철도차량은 컴퓨터시스템 적용으로 자가진단이 가능하고 과거에 비해 차량의 품질이 많이 향상되었으나, 현행 일상검수는 관례적으로 짧은 기간 시행해야 한다는 측면에서 현재 비효율적인 측면을 시급히 개선해야 함은 당연하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 차량의 상태를 반영한 개선된 일상검수 주기를 적용하여 차량의 신뢰성 확보와 정비비용을 최소화하고자 한다.

  • At the Rolling-stock, most important thing is thorough maintenance for safety as a mass transit. Recently, many studies of cost down method and acquisition of high reliability have being progressed with considering of safety. Maintenance cost is closely relative to the preventive maintenance. But generally the preventive maintenance is decided in compliance with an experience. So the study of cost down method at the preventive maintenance is difficult. In this study, many results of effectiveness and optimization for the preventive maintenance are checked. Then., it is possible that efficiency preventive maintenance method will be able to suggest.

  • Supply chain optimization is one of the most important components in the optimization of a company's value chain. This paper considers the problem of designing the supply chain for a product that is represented as an assembly bill of material (BOM). In this problem we are required to identify the locations at which different components of the product arc are produced/assembled. The objective is to minimize the overall cost, which comprises production, inventory holding and transportation costs. We assume that production locations are known and that the inventory policy is a base stock policy. We first formulate the problem as a 0-1 nonlinear integer programming model and show that it can be reformulated as a 0-1 linear integer programming model with an exponential number of decision variables.

  • 코레일은 고속철도 운행 이후 RCM을 적용한 신뢰성 정착에 많은 노력을 해 오고 있다. 또한 고속철도에 이어 일반차량 분야의 차종에 대한 검수주기 및 방법 등에 대한 최적화 연구를 수행하고 있다. 일반차종 중 가장 최근의 모델이고 향후 운행량이 늘어날 것으로 예상되는 신형전기 기관차의 검수주기 및 방법에 대한 연구를 진행 중에 있다. 신형전기기관차의 현행 검수주기 및 방법과 동종차량의 검수 현황, 국외 선진국의 동종차량의 검수현황 등을 분석하여 최적의 검수방안을 찾고자 한다. 현행 시행되고 있는 신형전기기관차의 검수주기는 안전성에 우선을 두어 경제성 및 신뢰성이 다소 소홀히 되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 연구를 통해 안전성을 확보함과 동시에 경제성과 신뢰성을 얻을 수 있는 정비방법을 찾고자 한다. 이번 논문에서는 현행 검수 실태의 분석을 통해 문제점과 개선점이 무엇인지를 찾아내는 것으로 하였다. 향후 연구가 종결되는 시점(2008년 말)에서 최적의 대안을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Recent cross-country competition and Chinese steel industry because of the emerging steel industry in Korea is a very difficult situation. Therefore, the steel industry in order to overcome this difficult market environment, the quality, cost competitiveness, enhance customer service levels and enhance international competitiveness through is needed. In this study, the purpose of strengthening the competitiveness of steel companies in order and hit the recovery of raw materials have been developed to optimize the model, developed before and after the results were analyzed. In addition, when applied to other products in order to minimize risk and optimize cutting trial stage of development details of the model is presented in detail. Therefore, the developed model was applied to order the recovery of raw materials hits and significantly improved production planning time has been shortened dramatically. In the present study the contents of other products when properly applied and the competitiveness of companies to improve customer service levels are expected to be helpful.

직류철도 급전계통의 안전성 향상을 위한 차단기 동작 최적 설정의 실험적 고찰 (An Experimental Study on Operation Setting Optimization of Circuit Breaker for Improving Safety on DC Railroad Feeder System)

  • This paper presents an experimental study on the optimal settings for the selected DC fault relay (50F) to improve the operating performance for the high-speed circuit breaker on DC feeding system which ensure safety within rolling stock maintenance depot. In this study, current supplied to overhead contact wire was calculated on 1 ms interval to analyze the correction values of DC fault selective relay for the operation of current supply cutout. Particularly, standards for the accurate detection of accidents between an electric railway vehicle and the electric power facilities are shown by investigating the optimal correction values for detection of fault current, and the results indicated that it takes about 213 ms for the DC fault selective relay(50F) to fully open. In the future, the correction values of DC fault selective relay suggested in this paper will be used as the reference values of protective relay for the safe operation of DC electric railroad system such as urban railway.
