  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effects of rehabilitation hospital nurses' perception of patient safety culture, nursing professionalism, and nursing work environment on patient safety nursing activities. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used with a convenience sample of 230 nurses with more than six months of experience working in rehabilitation hospitals located in D Metropolitan City, South Korea. Data were collected from October 23 to 31, 2023 through a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA with post-verification of Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple stepwise regression analysis using SPSS 28.0. Results: The average scores were 3.73±0.35 for perception of patient safety culture, 3.54±0.47 for nursing professionalism, 2.67±0.49 for nursing work environment, and 4.68±0.45 for patient safety nursing activities. Patient safety nursing activities was significantly positively correlated with perception of patient safety culture, nursing professionalism, and nursing work environment. Experience of reporting incidents (β=.19, p=.002), communication and procedure (β=.18, p=.003), frequency of reporting (β=.18, p=.002), total clinical experience (β=.17, p=.004), patient safety (β=.17, p=.005), and direct supervisor/manager (β=.17, p=.008) affected patient safety nursing activities in rehabilitation hospitals. Conclusion: Perception of patient safety culture may increase rehabilitation hospital nurses' patient safety nursing activities.

  • The application of all regulations during building phase, plus constant vigilance in operation is essential to reducing the risk of fire aboard. A Safety by design approach is increasingly important. Fire safety regulation can solve problems which are hard to be solved by HSC code(International Code of Safety for High Speed Craft). Recently HSC code is applied for ship design development or guidance to the designer and demonstrates many advantages. In this pages, ship fire Safety are realistically modeled as ship design and the shipboard fires & muster stations are analyzed using HSC Code.

  • 기업의 안전·보건, 환경(SHE: Safety, Health and Environment)과 관련된 중대산업사고는 큰 인적·물적 손실을 가져오기 때문에 사회적 책임에 관한 문제로 확산되고 있는 추세이다.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in hazardous pollutant emissions in Korea over the period of 2006-2015. Methods: A survey of hazardous pollutant emissions was conducted through the homepage for 2006-2015. The emission of hazardous chemicals and the health effect was examined using the Annual Report of Air Quality in Korea (2016) and National Health Statistics (2015) as references. Results: Hazardous pollutant emissions increased by 1.1 times over the past decade, and the circulation amount of chemicals was 15% compared to the previous year. $PM_{10}$ concentrations showed a tendency to decrease, but emissions have not declined. In addition, asthma and atopic dermatitis correlated with similar emissions, but allergic disease showed no connection. Conclusion: These results on hazardous pollutant emissions indicate that they have increased. However, no association between emissions and health effects was shown, so more research is needed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the concept of nurses' safety within the context of the hospital environment. Methods: We used Rodgers' method of evolutionary concept analysis and reviewed the relevant literature and noted and categorized characteristics that appeared frequently. Results: Nurses' safety was defined as safe status and safe activity among nurses. Three key defining attributes were identified as: (a) the minimization of actual or perceived risk, (b) personal duties and rights, and (c) ensuring within a safe working environment. Antecedents of nurses' safety were categorized into three dimensions: (a) individual, including vigilance and knowledge gained through education and training; (b) institutional, including safety provision in the organizations; and (c) national, including legislation. The outcomes of nurses' safety included the following: (a) continued competence in nurses' work; (b) enhancement of the quality of patient care; and (c) reductions in nurses' turnover rates. Conclusion: Nurses' safety ensures that qualified nurses are able to continue to perform their duties and provide good patient care. The findings of this study could contribute to future research examining nurses' safety. In addition, appropriate tools must be developed to measure the concept.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review the articles and theses on the patient safety culture of clinical nurses for identifying overall research trends regarding patient safety culture among hospital nurses, and to suggest strategies for improving nursing work environment related to patient safety culture. Methods: The subjects for this study were 17 articles selected according to inclusion criteria from five databases in Korea. Results: Seven articles were collected from nursing journals and ten from master's theses. The studies on the 17 articles were conducted at 66 hospitals from seven regions of Korea. The tools for patient safety culture were selected among the three tools from AHRQ and two Korean translation tools. The mean score of patient safety culture was 3.43. Conclusion: The findings from the article review indicate that, in order to improve nursing work environment for patient safety culture, the hospital and nursing manager should emphasize the education for patient safety, communication and open-minded reporting, and cooperation among the departments of hospital.
