A Study on the Development of Coding Education Program based on Arduino (아두이노 기반 코딩 교육 프로그램 개발 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to enhance the creative activity of youth through coding programs on the subject of Arduino. In order to achieve the purpose of the research, it studies the development of coding education based on Arduino, which is cheaper and generally available for universal use. In addition, in order to verify the program, it applies to the 12 schools in Gwangju Jeonnam and produces the improvements. The results of the study are as follows : first, the coding education program centered on Arduino was developed from a fusion perspective through a procedural model(plan - design - action - evaluation - improvement) and applied to a pilot class. Second, the effectiveness of the student satisfaction survey and the interviews of teachers were analyzed. Third, the improvement of the coding education program is accepted and applied to the next program.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the educational programs for cultivating balanced view of technical understanding and social impact on Artificial Intelligence (AI). To this end, an educational program based on a constructivist approach was developed. Through an experimental class for middle school students we analyzed the concept and perception of AI and the satisfaction of the class. The main results are as follows. First, students' understanding of the concept and the cases of AI in their daily lives has improved. Second, the recognition of the impact of AI on society has emerged and concern about social impact have been lowered. Third, in terms of program satisfaction, all the factors such as understanding of AI, interest in class, interest in AI were high. With these results, we discussed the implications for AI education in elementary and secondary school.

  • Due to COVID-19, non-face-to-face cultures such as remote classes, remote work, and tele-medicine are spreading. The major contributors to the settlement of such a non-face-to-face society are small and medium SW companies and SW manpower. However, recently as large platform companies and foreign big tech companies hire thousands of SW manpower, SW small and medium-sized companies are experiencing a serious manpower shortage. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest policy alternatives for SMEs to stably secure SW manpower and support continuous business operation. To achieve this purpose, this study examines the current status of the SW industry and manpower, then summarizes related issues and suggests policy alternatives to solve these issues. Those policies include the reinforcement of incentives to support manpower retention such as the Naeil Chaeum deduction system, youth housing union composition, special military service system, recruitment of manpower through the contract semester system of employment conditions, reinforcement of customized education through supplementation of the SW manpower training voucher system, SW field skill standardization, establishment of a governance system for nurturing SW manpower, preparation of countermeasures against the outflow of manpower to large companies, and a win-win cooperation program for large and SME SW manpower.

  • In this study we have developed a Python education program that can be applied to students who have studied block-based coding. We have developed a Python education program based on the extracted the learners' level of block-based coding by analyzing the programs and the textbooks. We extracted the grammar of the block-based coding and constructed the curriculum. Then, the Python education program was composed by 16 hours. After reviewing the appropriateness of the education program through expert validation, it was concluded that the developed Python education program is suitable for applying to learners of block-based coding. We expect that proposed program will be effectively applied as basic resources to learn script coding in class.

The Effects of Nursing Ethics Education on Spiritual Well-being, Attitude toward Death and Perception of Hospice Palliative Care in Nursing Students (간호윤리교육이 간호대학생의 영적 안녕, 죽음에 대한 태도 및 호스피스 완화간호에 대한 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Nursing ethics education(NE) on Spiritual well-being(SW), Attitude toward death(AD) and Perception of hospice palliative care(PH) in nursing students. This research used a one group pretest-posttest experimental design. Thirty hours NE program was given to 42 nursing students for six weeks. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test with SPSS 18.0. program. As a result, there are no significant effects of NE on SW, AD and PH. However, it was found one thing interest that neither our nursing ethics education program nor others' had significant effects on attitude toward death. Nurses provide care to people at the end of their lives more often than any other healthcare provider. Therefore it is necessary to study the development of educational programs improving positive attitude toward death.

Development of Elementary Maker Education Program using WeDo Robot (WeDo 로봇 활용 초등 메이커 교육 프로그램 개발)

  • This study conducted research on creating an environment for maker education programs for robot and SW education, development and application of maker education programs for low-grade elementary school students in farming and fishing villages. Based on the preceding maker education model, the OMCSI model was developed for the lower grade level of elementary school, and based on this, five WeDo-utilized elementary maker education programs were developed. From April 1, 2020 to October 30, 2020, the results of applying the elementary school maker education program using WeDo Robot 2.0 to 10 second graders of 10 Elementary School in Gyeongsangnam-do are as follows. The average increased by 3.40 points (t=-2.378, p=0.034) and the average increased by 3.30 points (t=-2.329, p=0.040). The average was also increased by 3.40 points (t=-2.458, p=0.038). Finally, it rose to 3.70 points (t=-2.449, p=0.037) for its reasoning ability. That is, all four sub-elements of computing thinking had a significant probability of 0.04, indicating statistical significant differences between scores of pre-post computing thinking. Therefore, the Elementary Maker Education Program using WeDo robots has worked very effectively to improve students' computing thinking skills.

Development and Application of Software Education Program Based on Blended Learning for Improving Computational Thinking of Pre-Service Elementary Teachers (초등예비교사의 컴퓨팅 사고력 향상을 위한 블렌디드 러닝 기반의 소프트웨어교육 프로그램 개발 및 적용)

  • In this study, a software education program based on blended learning using scratch was designed for pre-service elementary teachers' software education. Software education program was applied to experimental group and control group within the university of education using Scratch programming for 12 weeks. Blended learning using online lectures was applied to experimental group. The pre-service teachers' recognition about software education and self-evaluation of computational thinking were performed. Then, we analyzed the effect of the developed education program on the recognition of software education and computational thinking. As a result, the level of post-recognition of software education in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the pre-recognition. In the self-evaluation of computational thinking, the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group. Therefore, it can be seen that the software education program based on blended learning can help improve the learner's computational thinking.

Development of Fine Dust Robot Unplugged Education Program (미세먼지 로봇을 주제로 한 언플러그드 교육 프로그램의 개발)

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop an unplugged education program that develops the 4C (Creativity, Critical thinking, Communication ability, Collaboration) and CT (Computational Thinking) competencies required in modern society. This study discovered "Fine Dust Robot" as a theme suitable for the unplugged education program, and designed the Unplugged 4-hour education program which can develop 4C and CT competencies. The first stage motivates learning, and the second and third stages develop unplugged activity to develop CT. In the fourth stage, the algorithms created through unplugged activities were programmed through the natural language instruction card and produced the output. We developed educational materials that can be utilized in the unplugged education program. Finally, education programs were conducted for elementary school students, and pre- and post-tests of computational thinking were conducted for general students and gifted students. Educational effective was found in both groups.
