  • This study was focused on estimated Stream Maintenance Flow and performed for simulate securing Stream Maintenance Flow in New town development area. Tributary streams were made of 6 small streams, joined Gong-ji Stream and Eu-am lake finally. For estimate Stream Maintenance Flow used Kajiyama and SWAT models for calculate available flow in study area. As a result the annual average stream flow dry years were $2,300{\sim}136,000\;m^/day3$, the annual average stream flow wet years were $4,800{\sim}136,031\;m^3/day$. The coefficient of determination($R^2$) and Nash-sutcliffe coefficient(EI) for comparison between Kajiyama and SWAT models were 0.88, 0.78 respectively.

  • Achieving situation awareness is especially challenging for real-time data stream applications because they i) operate on continuous unbounded streams of data, and ii) have inherent realtime requirements. In this paper we showed how formal data stream modeling and analysis can be used to better understand stream behavior, evaluate query costs, and improve application performance. We used MEDAL, a formal specification language based on Petri nets, to model the data stream queries and the quality-of-service management mechanisms of RT-STREAM, a prototype system for data stream management. MEDAL's ability to combine query logic and data admission control in one model allows us to design a single comprehensive model of the system. This model can be used to perform a large set of analyses to help improve the application's performance and quality of service.

  • This research was conducted to investigate the influences of the solifluction soil and amount of flow on the stream water quality of the Bukhansan National Park from March to october, 2002. The average pH of stream water was higher than that caused by solifluction soil. The average electrical conductivity of upstream water was about 2.1~2.8 times lower than that of downstream water. Linear regression analysis showed that pH and amount of anion($Cl^-$, ${NO_3}^-$, ${SO_4}^{2-}$) of stream water were very significantly correlated with those at the caused by solifluction soil. Structures for erosion control along both sides of stream channel should be designed in order not to influence upon solifluction soil and stream water quality.

  • This study is to trace the change of stream shape using the past series of aerial photographs and compare the land use changes of inland along the stream. For the Gyeong-an national stream, aerial photographs of 1966, 1981 and 2000 was selected and ortho photograph was made with RMSE of 1.05, 0.54, 0.72 pixels, respectively. As apparent changes of the stream, the consolidated reaches of stream with levee construction were straightened and their stream width widened. Especially the stream width of inlet part of Paldang lake was widened almost twice because of the rise of water level by dam construction in 1974.

  • The stream morphological characteristics of watershed have important influence upon the analysis of runoff. In this study, the effect of the map scale on the stream morphological characteristics was used on the data taken from 15'(1:50, 000) and 7'30"(1 :25,000) topographic maps which could cover the whole Miho River basin This basin are the first tributary of the Geum. River. Otherwise, the longitudinal stream bed profile was calculated by Yang's theoretical stream bed profile, equilibrium profile and actual profile. In the result of this investigation the conclusion is that the resultant relationship obtained from different topographic maps in the scale on the same stream system has come upon the same result as the stream morphological characteristics. Therefore, the great amount of time and effort can be saved in studing the stream morphological charecteristics by using the 15' instead of the 7'30"map system excluding the first order streams.

  • Stream servers are for supplying multimedia stream data to users through the internet such as movies and musics without discontinuation. A typical stream server is designed roughly by considering the characteristics of stream services and by employing processors, memory, PCI bus, Ethernet, TOE and disks. This study focuses on deciding the priority for using resources such as PCI bus, buffer memory and TOE buffer, which have limited capacities in a typical stream server. The simulation study shows that the top priority for using PCI bus for normal streaming services should be given to the operation that sends data from buffer memory to TOE buffer Giving priority for using PCI bus to other operation such as sending data from disks to memory results in deadlock Phenomenon.

  • The objective approach for assessment of stream naturalness is an essential part of the stream restoration project. This study proposes the methodology for the assessment of stream naturalness considering physical, biological and chemical factors. Physical factors consists of riffle and pool, river bed material, bank protection, floodplain vegetation and levee materials; biological factors are benthic macroinvertebrate, KSI (Korean Saprobic Index), and IBI (Index of Biological Integrity) and chemical factors are pH, DO (dissolved oxygen), and TP (total phosphorus). This procedure is applied to the Mokgamcheon. As a result, the downstream of Mokgamcheon (zone I) needs the prompt improvement of stream naturalness, compared to the others (zone II and III). This evaluation technique will be an effective tool to quantify the stream naturalness and can be used to set the target of stream restoration project.

  • In this study, the variation of water quality in Osan stream was investigated through continuous monitoring, and mass balance and metabolism occurred into water body were estimated to set up effective management plan for water quality of small urban stream. From the results of continuos investigation of water quality in Osan stream, the things written as follows must be previously done to improve water quality of main stream. Firstly, it need that effective management plan for tributaries must be set up to improve the water quality in main stream. Secondly, the counter plan for re-eruption of pollutants from sediment in main-stream is required to prevent inner pollution. In this study, we showed that small urban stream can be managed effectively by simple investigation to prevent deterioration of water quality. Therefore continuous monitoring for water quality in stream is important to improve water quality, furthermore matter cycle and mass balance happening in the stream environment must be correctly estimated to make up healthy stream environment.
