  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of psychological acceptance and social support on posttraumatic growth in stomach cancer patients. Methods: The questionnaires were administered from January 14 to February 11, 2015 to 123 subjects who had stomach cancer surgery six months prior. SPSS statistics 21.0 software was used to analyze the data for t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlations, Scheffé test and multiple regression analysis. Results: The results of this study are as follows: The major factors related to posttraumatic growth included gender (t=-2.72, p=.007), age (r=-.21, p=.016), having a religion (t=-3.40, p<.001), perceived importance of religion (r=.43, p<.001), seriousness of cancer diagnosis (r=.25, p=.005) and impact of cancer diagnosis (r=.32, p<.001). There were significant relationships between psychological acceptance (r=.18, p=.041) and social support (r=.32, p<.001) on posttraumatic growth. Significantly influential factors of posttraumatic growth were age (β=-.19, p=.021), perceived importance of religion (β=.41, p<.001) and family support (β=.29, p<.001), which together accounted for 36.5% of the variance in posttraumatic growth. Conclusion: The result of current study indicated that age, importance of religion, and family support influenced posttraumatic growth. Based on the findings of this study, developing nursing intervention programs focusing on increasing posttraumatic growth in stomach cancer patients is recommended.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data necessary for educating nursing students by establishing a desirable sense of ethics values. Method: In this descriptive research, 101 nursing students and 191 non-nursing students (in other health related fields) from Daejeon City were selected. Tools used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test and step wise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 12.0 version. Results: Average scores for consciousness of biomedical ethics in nursing students was 2.94, and in non-nursing students, 2.77. When differences in the consciousness of biomedical ethics of nursing and non-nursing students were compared, nursing students had significantly higher scores for artificial abortion, artificial insemination, prenatal diagnosis of fetus, right to life of newborn, euthanasia, organ transplantation and human biotechnology, but significantly lower for brain death. Variables which influenced consciousness of biomedical ethics were religion and economic status in the nursing students and intent to attend a class in biomedical ethics, quantity and quality of biomedical ethics in the current curriculum and religion in the non-nursing students. Conclusion: Continuing educational programs need to be considered and attention given to the significant variables that can promote consciousness of biomedical ethics in nursing students.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors affecting quality of life according to Body Mass Index (BMI) of women college students. Methods: The research design was a descriptive survey design using a convenience sampling. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires. Participants were 348 women college students. Data analysis was done using SPSS/WIN 18.0 program for descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients and hierarchial multiple regression. Results: According to BMI, 3 groups of students were identified. Differences between the groups for quality of life were significant. The major factors affecting quality of life in the underweight group were departments (college), body stress and ego-resilience which explained 27.9% of the variance in quality of life. Body stress and ego-resilience were significant predictors explaining 23.1% of the variance in quality of life in the normal weight group. Ego-resilience was also a significant predictor in the overweight group explaining 15.2% of the variance in quality of life. Conclusion: Findings indicate a need to decrease body stress and strengthen ego-resilience to improve quality of life of women college students. Further studies are needed to examine nursing intervention strategies for improving quality of life for women college students.

Methods: Using self-administered questionnaires, data were collected between August 13th and 31st, 2018. Descriptive statistics were computed, and t-test, analysis of variance, and correlational and multiple stepwise regression analyses were conducted using International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. Results: Health promotion behaviors were significantly and positively correlated with psychological well-being (r=.491, p<.001), fatigue (r=.170, p=.030), and self-efficacy (r=.520, p<.001). Psychological well-being (${\beta}=.249$, p=.014), fatigue (${\beta}=.179$, p=.007), and self-efficacy (${\beta}=.335$, p=.001) had significant effects on health promotion behaviors and together explained 31.7% of the variance. Conclusion: A systematic educational program that enhances psychological well-being should be developed and implemented to nurture health promotion behaviors among shift workers. Additionally, an intervention program that can enhance health promotion behaviors should be implemented to improve self-efficacy and prevent fatigue among shift workers.

  • Purpose: By investigating oral health knowledge and oral health behavior of orthodontic patients, we intend to identify factors that affect their satisfaction with orthodontic treatment and use them as fundamental data for improving the satisfaction of orthodontic patients. Methods: Busan from February 1st to March 31st, 2021. Dental disease in Gyeongsangnam-do. A self-contained survey was conducted on patients undergoing orthodontic treatment in the clinic. A total of 185 copies were analyzed. Using the lBM SPSS Statistics 21 program, multiple regression analysis was conducted by setting oral health knowledge and oral health behavior as independent variables to determine factors affecting remedial treatment satisfaction. Results: The satisfaction level of orthodontic treatment was 1.53 points higher than 'understanding the cost of orthodontic treatment' and 'smooth relationship with related staff while receiving orthodontic treatment' was low at 1.23. The average calibration satisfaction was 1.34. Factors affecting remedial treatment satisfaction were shown in the order of oral health behavior (p<0.000), educational experience (p<0.010), gender (p<0.015) and oral health knowledge (p<0.020). Conclusions: Through the above results, it is necessary to develop programs to improve oral health knowledge through customized individual oral health education by enhancing individual oral health behaviors of individuals.
