  • Usually marine traffic survey has been conducted by some methods like an ocular observation using portable RADAR, a questionnaire, etc. But these should have expended a lot of manpower and expenses. In this paper, we have developed new observation module which could capture the RADAR image using PC camera simply, and allowed as to track targets on the PC monitor directly. And it has been programmed to make a database of RADAR image, target's track and information, and analyze the marine traffic tendency in various ways like vessel number crossed over gate line, vessel's velocity distribution in gate line, traffic density distribution, etc. We have confirmed that this module could observe and analyze the marine traffic efficiently and economically through several on-the-spot experiments.

  • This paper investigates the performance of sensor models based on satellite position and rotation angles and sensor models based on satellite orbit and attitude angles. We analyze the performance with respect to the accuracy of bundle adjustment and the accuracy of exterior orientation estimation. In particular, as one way to analyze the latter, we establish sensor models with respect to one image and apply the models to other scenes that have been acquired from the same orbit. Experiment results indicated that fer the sole purpose of bundle adjustment accuracy one could use both position-rotation models and orbit-attitude models. The accuracy of estimating exterior orientation parameters appeared similar for both models when analysis was performed based on single scene. However, when multiple scenes within the same orbital segment were used for analysis, the orbit-attitude model with attitude biases as unknowns showed the most accurate results.

  • Most studies using satellite images have been performed to determine three dimensional positioning by stereoscopic analysis for stereo-pair or to extract digital elevation model by stereo matching using image correlation techniques. Because the small errors on the ground control points have a great impact on the results, however, it is hard to get reliable products when we analyze satellite orbital parameters or acquire digital elevation model by using only stereo-pair. Also, if there are noises, shadows, or clouds on the one of stereo pair, it is difficult to produce DEM(digital elevation model) on the area under analysis or to have good accuracy. In these case, it can be solved by systematic analysis of the multiple stereo images. This paper suggests the improvements on the accuracy of the digital elevation model by the developments of stereoscopic analysis techniques for the triplet of SPOT satellite images on the same area.

  • The UET(ultrasound excited thermography) for the ,eat-time diagnostics of the object employs an infrared camera to image defects of the surface and subsurface which are locally heated using high-frequency putted ultrasonic excitation. The dissipation of high-power ultrasonic energy around the feces of the defects causes an increase In temperature. The defect's image appears as a hot spot (bright IR source) within a dark background field. The UET for nondestructive diagnostic and evaluation is based on the image analysis of the hot spot as a local response to ultrasonic excited heat deposition. In this paper the applicability of VET for fast imaging of defect is described. The ultrasonic energy is injected into the sample through a transducer in the vertical and horizontal directions respectively. The voltage applied to the transducer is measured by digital oscilloscope, and the waveform are compared. Measurements were performed on four kinds of materials: SUS fatigue crack specimen(thickness 14mm), PCB plate(1.8 mm), CFRP plate(3 mm) and Inconel 600 plate (1 mm). A high power ultrasonic energy with pulse durations of 250ms Is injected into the samples in the horizontal and vertical directions respectively The obtained experimental result reveals that the dissipation loss of the ultrasonic energy In the vertical injection is less than that in the horizontal direction. In the cafe or PCB, CFRP, the size of hot spot in the vortical injection if larger than that in horizontal direction. Duration time of the hot spot in the vertical direction is three times as long as that in the horizontal direction. In the case of Inconel 600 plate and SUS sample, the hot spot in the horizontal injection was detected faster than that in the vertical direction

  • With acquisition of satellite image being facilitated due to recent advancement in Electro optical and astronautic technologies, focus on establishment of Geoinformation and analysis using satellite images have increased. This research have conducted digital plotting and digitizing operation, utilizing stereo images and grey level images provided by SPOT5 satellite and evaluated the accuracy through comparison and analysis with digital map results. Digital plotting results acquired using stereo images have been compared and analyzed on the basis of scale 1:25,000 digital map results published by National Geographic Information Institute. Accuracy of 20 check points have showed RMSE results 5.369 m at X (Easting) and 4.718 m, digitizing using grey level images showed RMSE results 7.616 m in X (Easting) and Y (Northing) 6.532 m. This is within the allowance of accuracy standards for scale 1:25,000 maps, and although digitizing operation was confirmed to have lower accuracy than that of digital plotting, using the former is considered to be more effective in terms of economical efficiency.

  • This study proposed two multisensor fusion methods for segment-based image classification utilizing a region-growing segmentation. The proposed algorithms employ a Gaussian-PDF measure and an evidential measure respectively. In remote sensing application, segment-based approaches are used to extract more explicit information on spatial structure compared to pixel-based methods. Data from a single sensor may be insufficient to provide accurate description of a ground scene in image classification. Due to the redundant and complementary nature of multisensor data, a combination of information from multiple sensors can make reduce classification error rate. The Gaussian-PDF method defines a regional measure as the PDF average of pixels belonging to the region, and assigns a region into a class associated with the maximum of regional measure. The evidential fusion method uses two measures of plausibility and belief, which are derived from a mass function of the Beta distribution for the basic probability assignment of every hypothesis about region classes. The proposed methods were applied to the SPOT XS and ENVISAT data, which were acquired over Iksan area of of Korean peninsula. The experiment results showed that the segment-based method of evidential measure is greatly effective on improving the classification via multisensor fusion.
