Flora and Vegetation of Southwest Chuncheon Area (춘천 남서부지역의 식물상과 식생)

  • The flora and vegatation of the Southwest Chuncheon area were investigated from March, 2006 to September, 2007. The vascular plants were summarized as 914 taxa; 111 families, 448 genera, 766 species, 2 subspecies, 119 varieties, and 27 forma. Among the investigated 914 taxa, 33 Korean endemic, four endangered, and 26 rare plants were included. Based on the list of the species of specially designated plants by the Ministry of Environment, 152 taxa were recorded in the investigated area. The naturalized plants were 46 taxa, and life form spectra was H-R5-D1-e type. 914 taxa listed consists of 308 taxa(33.7%) of edible plants, 276 taxa(30.2%) of medicinal plants, 148 taxa(16.2%) of pasture plants, 127 taxa(13.9%) of ornamental plants, 36 taxa(3.9%) of timber plants, 25 taxa(2.7%) of fiber plants and 4 taxa(0.4%) of industrial plants. The vegetation of Southwest Chuncheon area were classified five communities as Betula costata-Acer mono, Quercus mongolica, Quercus mongolica-Quercus variabilis, Quercus mongolica-Quercus dentata, and Pinus densiflora.

Distribution and Characteristics of Plants Resources in Mt. Jo-bong (Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do) (조봉(강원, 양양) 식물자원의 분포와 특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the distribution and characteristics of plants resources in Mt. Jo-bong (Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do) from April, 2011 to October, 2012. The vascular plants were summarized as 500 taxa; 92 families, 296 genera, 434 species, 6 subspecies, 49 varieties, and 11 forma. Among the investigated 500 taxa, 13 Korean endemic, 14 rare plants, 1 endangered and 75 specially designated plants by Ministry of Environment were included. The naturalized plants were 32 taxa and percent of naturalized plant species and urbanization index were estimated 6.4% and 10%, respectively. Usefulness of plants of 500 taxa listed consists of 193 taxa (38.6%) of edible plants, 155 taxa (31.0%) of medicinal plants, 86 taxa (17.2%) of pasture plants, 58 taxa (11.6%) of ornamental plants, 16 taxa (3.2%) of timber plants, 14 taxa (2.8%) of fiber plants, 4 taxa (0.8%) of industrial plants and 2 taxa (0.4%) of miscellaneous plants.

The Vascular Plants in Mt. Gahyeon (Gyeonggi-do, Gimpo) (가현산(경기, 김포)의 관속식물상)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the flora of Mt. Gahyeon (Gyeonggi-do, Gimpo). The vascular plant were collected 13 times (from March to Oct. 2010), and 413 taxa in total were identified, including 96 families, 267 genera, 362 species, 6 subspecies, 40 varieties and 5 forms. Among them were 6 taxa of Korean endemic plants and 17 taxa of specially designated plants by the Ministry of Environment. Usage of 413 taxa were consists of 159 taxa (38.5%) of edible plants, 122 taxa (29.5%) of medicinal plants, 77 taxa (18.6%) of pasture plants, 47 taxa (11.4%) of ornamental plants, 26 taxa (6.3%) of stainable plants, 14 taxa (3.4%) of timber plants, 6 taxa (1.5%) of fiber plants, 5 taxa (1.2%) of industrial plants and 102 taxa (24.7%) of unknown resource plants, respectively. The naturalized plants were identified as 41 taxa and the percent of naturalized index (NI) was 9.9% of total 413 taxa vascular plants. Furthermore, therophytes (27.1%), hemicryptophytes (26.4%), geophytes (14.7%) showed high proportional ratio in life form spectrum.

Floristic study of Mt. Dosol and its adjacent areas (Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do) (도솔산(강원, 양구)일대의 관속식물상)

  • This study was carried out to investigate flora of Mt. Dosol(Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do). The vascular plants were summarized as 510 taxa, including 89 families, 281 genera, 438 species, 3 subspecies, 61 varieties and 8 forms. Among the investigated 510 taxa, 21 Korean endemic, 24 rare plants, 1 endangered plant and 122 specially designated plants by the Ministry of Environment were also included. The naturalized plants were 27 taxa. The percent of naturalized plants species and urbanization index were estimated as 5.3% and 8.4%, respectively. Usefulness of plants of 510 taxa listed consists of 201 taxa(39.4%) of edible plants, 186 taxa(36.5%) pasture plants, 144 taxa(28.2%) of medicinal plants, 56 taxa(11.0%) of ornamental plants, 16 taxa(3.1%) of timber plants, 8 taxa(1.6%) of miscellaneous plants and 4 taxa(0.8%) of fiber plants.

A Floristic Study of Geumseongsan Mt. (Geumsan-gun·Chungnam) in Korea (금성산(충남·금산)의 관속식물상)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the flora of Geumseongsan Mt. (Geumsan-gun Chungnam). The vascular plants were collected 30 different times, from July 2015 to June of 2016. The results showed that there were 483 taxa in total, included 112 families, 358 genera, 417 species, 8 subspecies, 48 varieties, 8 forms and 2 hybrids. Of these vascular plants, red-list species managed by the Ministry of Environment of Korea included 3 species, and 8 species Korea Forest Service. The endemic species to Korea were identified to 4 species. There were 29 taxa specially designated floristic regional indicator plants by the Ministry of Environment of Korea. The alien plants were identified as 42 taxa, and their naturalization ratio was 8.6%. Usage of 483 taxa were consisted of 190 taxa (39.3%) of edible plants, 162 taxa (33.5%) of pasture plants, 154 taxa (31.8%) of medicinal plants, 58 taxa (12.0%) of ornamental plants, 14 taxa (2.8%) of timber plants, 5 taxa (1.0%) of fiber plants, and 2 taxa (0.4%) of industrial plants.

Vascular Plants and Their Characteristics Cited in Science Textbooks of Elementary and Secondary Schools (초.중등학교 과학 교과서에 인용된 관속식물의 종류와 특징)

  • This study was examined the vascular plants and their characteristics cited in 311 science textbooks of elementary and secondary schools used in the fifth to seventh curriculum. Vascular plants were composed of 129 families, 332 genera, 383 species, 2 subspecies, 47 varieties, 6 forma, and 3 hybrid, totaling 441 taxa. The herbs and trees were consists of 280 taxa (63.5%) and 161 taxa (36.5%), respectively. Native species (241 taxa) were more cited than non-native species (200 taxa). The number of species within a family were high ranked in 35 taxa of Compositae, and 26 taxa of Gramineae. Nine species including endemic genus Hanabusaya Nakai and Abeliophyllum Nakai among the 441 taxa were Korean endemic, and the 25 rare and 12 endangered plants were also included. Based on the list of the species of specially designated plants by the Ministry of Environment, 83 taxa were recorded in the investigated textbooks, and the naturalized plants were 16 taxa. 441 taxa listed consists of 185 taxa (41.9%) of edible plants, 148 taxa (33.5%) of medicinal plants, 139 taxa (31.5%) of ornamental plants, 87 taxa (19.7%) of pasture plants, 34 taxa (7.7%) of timber plants, 13 taxa (2.9%) of miscellaneous plants, 8 taxa (1.8%) of fiber plants, and 3 taxa (0.7%) of industrial plants.

Flora of the Southeastern Areas of Gangwon-do (Donghae-si, Samcheok-si) (강원도 남동부 지역(동해시, 삼척시)의 식물상)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the flora of the southeastern areas, including Donghae-si and Samcheok-si, of Gangwon-do. Vascular plants based on voucher specimens were summarized as 750 taxa, including 109 families, 394 genera, 642 species, 5 subspecies, 90 varieties, and 13 forms. Among the investigated 750 taxa, 17 Korean endemic, 38 rare plants and 147 specially designated plants by the Ministry of the Environment were also included. The naturalized plants were 28 taxa, and the percent of naturalized plant species was estimated as 3.7%. The life form of the investigated taxa was the H-R5-D4-e type. The usefulness of the plants of the 750 taxa listed consists of 284 taxa (37.9%) of edible plants, 232 taxa (30.9%) of medicinal plants, 124 taxa (16.5%) of pasture plants, 88 taxa (11.7%) of ornamental plants, 21 taxa (2.8%) of timber plants, 20 taxa (2.7%) of fiber plants, 7 taxa (0.9%) of miscellaneous plants and 3 taxa (0.4%) of industrial plants.

The Vascular Plants in Mt. Bohyeon, Gyeongbuk, Korea (보현산(경북)의 관속식물상 연구)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the vascular plants of Mt. Bohyeon (Gyeongbuk). The vascular plants were collected 22 times and summarized as 589 taxa, including 105 families, 327 genera, 522 species, 11 subspecies, 48 varieties and 8 forms respectively. Among them, 13 Korean endemics, 10 red list of vascular plants, 2 endangered plants and 83 specially designated plants by the Ministry of Environment were included respectively. The naturalized plants were 37 taxa and the naturalized ratio was 6.41 of 589 taxa. Usage of 589 taxa were consists of 240 taxa (40.1%) of edible plants, 205 taxa (34.2%) of medicinal plants, 62 taxa (10.3%) of ornamental plants, 213 taxa (35.6%) of pasture plants, 15 taxa (2.5%) of timber plants, 8 taxa (1.3%) of fiberplants, and 3 taxa (0.5%) of industrial plants.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the flora of Mt Hanseok (Inje-gun, Gangwon-do) from March, 2013 to August, 2014. Vascular plants were summarized, numbering 603 taxa including 101 families, 337 genera, 520 species, 5 subspecies, 69 varieties and 9 forms. Among the 603 investigated taxa, 14 Korean endemic, 17 rare plants and 99 plants specially designated by the Ministry of Environment were also included. Naturalized plants amounted to 37 taxa. The percentage of naturalized plants species and the urbanization index were estimated to be 6.1% and 11.5%, respectively. Useful plants of the 603 taxa listed consist of 223 taxa (36.9%) which are edible plants, 217 taxa (35.9%) which are pasture plants, 165 taxa (27.3%) as medicinal plants, 67 taxa (11.1%) as ornamental plants, 22 taxa (3.6%) which are timber plants and 9 taxa (1.4%) of miscellaneous plants.

Floristic study of Mt. Baekasan (백아산의 식물상)

  • This study presents a discussion of vascular plants found on Mt. Baekasan, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, based on specimens collected during 32 separate field trips amounting to a total of 36 days conducted between May of 2011 and October of 2016. There are 651 taxa on Mt. Baekasan, consisting of 109 families, 366 genera, 576 species, 5 subspecies, and 70 varieties. Twelve plants endemic to Korea were found, including Cirsium setidens (Dunn) Nakai and Scutellaria insignis Nakai. There are a total of 61 taxa of floristic regional indicator plants specially designated by the Ministry of the Environment. Rare plants such as Jeffersonia dubia (Maxim.) Benth. & Hook. ex Baker & S. Moore in Mt. Baekasan are 17 taxa in total, and red list plants number 8 taxa, including Cremastra variabilis (Blume) Nakai ex Shibata. Nine calciferous plants were found, including Asplenium ruprechtii Sa. Kurata, Ulmus davidiana var. japonica (Rehder) Nakai and Morus cathayana Hemsl. Thirty-three naturalized plants were also found, including Ambrosia artemisiifolia and Rumex acetosella.
