With the development and popularization of Internet, the competition of SNS market is now getting fiercer and fiercer. SNS service providers need to keep updating their service to sustain their customers' continuance use. However, due to the homogenization of functions and services from different applications provided by different developers, there comes a new phenomenon that users shift from one SNS to another SNS. In line with this, the current study aims to explore factors affecting switching intention among SNS users by applying migration theory which explains people's migration behavior from one place to another. Findings from surveys of Korean and Chinese college students suggest that there was a difference of factors influencing switching intention among the two countries. For Korean college students, alternative attraction was the strongest factor leading to SNS switching intention. On the other hand, peer pressure was the strongest factor leading to SNS switching intention among Chinese college students.
The purpose of this paper is to indicate possible future research directions for social network services(SNS) by reviewing past and recent trends in SNS studies. The framework used for the analysis is the New Media Evolutionary Model(NMEM) proposed by Wimmer and Dominick, a four-phase system for research on new media development. Although early forms of SNS emerged in the late 1990s, most research in this field has been published in the past five years. We searched for SNS-related articles published from 2006 to August 2011 from academic journal archives in information systems, communication, marketing, and other fields, and classified them according to the NMEM to analyze the current state of SNS research. Researchers in this field have so far focused on the first two phases of the model(the media itself and use of the media), but little research has been conducted on the third(effects of the media) and fourth phases(improvements in the media). Although SNS research is still in its early stages, we suggest the need for more studies on the effects of SNS and how it can be improved. Very few studies test existing theories or build new theories related to SNS. Thus, a more rigorous approach towards SNS research is warranted, and future research should focus on theory building and testing.

Social networking services (SNS) are developing significantly with the Internet and smartphones. It's a friendly social media, but if you think deeply about it, you'll find that it has a variety of faces. It is a communication tool between users, a medium for delivering information, an infrastructure for providing applications, and a community where people with common interests gather. In recent years, business tools, shopping and payment methods are also being swallowed. The influence of the spread of SNS on the real world is also expanding, and the work being dealt with from a sociological perspective is also increasing. Also, if you pay attention to the technical aspects of SNS, it is composed of various technical elements, such as infrastructure that handles large-scale access, user interface that supports comfortable use, and big data analysis to understand people's behavior more deeply. However, I usually use it as usual. However, if you look through SNS, you can see that the situation is surprisingly profound and multifaceted. This study began by looking at the history and current status of SNS and attempted to find its status through comparison with other media. From the point of view of relationship with society, it can be a risk and legal issue when using SNS, such as crimes using bad social media or social media. It is also necessary to comment on the activities on SNS or the guidelines established by the operators. Therefore, various legal issues on SNS will be discussed. Also, as an example of using SNS, I will introduce an example of using SNS in disaster response. From a more technical point of view, you will receive commentary on SNS's network-based technology and SNS's information use, and these articles will help you understand and use SNS safely and help you further utilize or develop SNS.
With the rapid growth of the internet, Social Network Services (SNSs) have played an important role. As the use of SNSs increases, users experience a sense of responsibility to respond to other people's messages or requests, and consequently experience an social overload, feeling too much social support for other users. In this study, we examined the effects of social overload on loneliness and SNS discontinuous usage intention. To verify the research model, data were collected from 83 SNS users and analyzed using SmartPLS, a structural equation modeling tool. The results of this study showed that the communal orientation and the degree of use of SNS influenced the social overload, and the social overload had a significant effect on loneliness and SNS discontinuous usage intention. The findings of this study are expected to help understand the social overload and loneliness in the use of SNS, and may also provide a strategic direction for SNS service providers.
SNS allowed users to serve not only as the content and message producer but as the consumer, with development into various types of SNS platforms. Instead of a traditional media structure of media-to-many and unspecified users, it also made it possible to achieve one-to-one or one-to-many interactions, regardless of time and space, through SNS platforms. Moreover, according to development of digital communication technology, IT, media contents and communication network have been mutually connected, though they were once separate. The changes in communication environments have caused rapid disorganization and reorganization in popular culture led by specific expert groups. Such trend has a greater influence on marketing strategies of enterprises. In other words, it will lead them to mostly introduce new information technologies, based on consumer market, and to strategically participate in SNS for promotion and marketing for their products and brands. Likewise, SNS has currently appeared as the main media affecting consumers' behaviors. In consideration of the importance of SNS features, which can stimulate responses of other users, analysis of main features affecting SNS user acceptance decision is required, as well as its utilization strategies. Accordingly, this study conducted division of SNS features into openness, quickness, interactiveness and economical efficiency to derive strategies for increasing the usage frequency of SNS and ultimately maximizing the expectation effect, in addition to an empirical analysis of effects of SNS features on usefulness, easiness and pleasure perceived in SNS, and SNS user intention.
Based on the Construal Level Theory, we aim to study a most favorable fit among the advertising model, media type, and message construals, which are important factors in an advertisement. A two (social distance of the ad model in an ad: distal (low similarity) vs proximal (high similarity) by two (social distance of a media type: distal (portal) vs. proximal (SNS)) by two (message construal: abstract vs concrete) laboratory experiment was conducted to examine attitude changes on ad messages. The results show that abstract messages were more effective in attitude toward advertisement and purchase intention under the distal social distance (i.e. advertising model in low-similarity and portal media type) while concrete messages were so under the proximal social distance and SNS media type.
In this paper, we design and implement an L-SNS system to reduce ever-increasing adverse effects of the Internet through the strengths of social network service system based on media literacy, including critical comprehension, creative expression, participation, communication ability, etc. The L-SNS system we proposed here was used the Smartphone as a medium of communication for learners, and to let them have indirect experience and real-time interaction. In addition, it provides the environment to make objective decisions through the process examining an in-depth discussion among other learners in the aspect of a third party.
Unlike existing social platforms that seek openness, an audio-based social platform is characterized by its limitations. This study uses the Value-Based Acceptance Model(VAM) to analyze the role that such limitations play in the user's acceptance of audio-based social media. In this study, restrictive properties are defined as access-limitation, communication-limitation, and content-limitation. This study aims to analyze the effect of each variable on the perceived value and usage of audio-based social media. The hypothesis test was conducted based on the survey responses total of 207 users and potential users. The results was analyzed that three limiting variables affect perceived benefit factors, usefulness and playfulness, and the user's acceptance intention. This study is significant in that it presents a model based on the VAM and provides guidance for new forms of social media growth.
Nowadays as the use of mobile communication devices such as smart phones and tablets and the use of Computer is expanded, data is being collected exponentially on the Internet. In addition, due to the development of SNS, users can freely communicate with each other and share information in various fields, so various opinions are accumulated in the from of big data. Accordingly, big data analysis techniques are being used to find out the difference between the response of the general public and the response of the media. In this paper, we analyzed the public response in SNS about child allowance and childbirth grant and analyzed the response of the media. Therefore we gathered articles and comments of users which were posted on Twitter for a certain period of time and crawling the news articles and applied sentiment analysis. From these data, we compared the opinion of the public posted on SNS with the response of the media expressed in news articles. As a result, we found that there is a different response to some national policy between the public and the media.
Purpose SNS (Social Network Service) is one of new promising marketing tools which allow marketer to do two-way communication and social interaction. Three characteristics of SNS marketing including informativeness, interactivity, and playfulness are distinguished from traditional marketing. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between three characteristics of SNS marketing, brand image, and purchase intention. Design/methodology/approach The present study proposed a research model integrating SNS marketing characteristics, brand image, and purchase intention represented by structural equation modelling and four hypotheses. A total of 20 questionnaire items for five variables were developed and measured by using five point Likert scale. 199 valid data were collected and used to test four hypotheses using SmartPLS. Findings Three hypotheses that the characteristics of SNS marketing such as informativeness, interactivity, and playfulness have a positive influence on brand image were supported at the significance level of 0.05 and 0.001 respectively. The hypothesis regarding the relationship between brand image and purchase intention was also supported at the significance level of 0.001. Brand image plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between SNS marketing and purchase intention. In particular, the result of research that playfulness of SNS marketing affects brand image significantly suggests a new future research theme regarding spiritual marketing. Implications for academics and practitioners were suggested.
