During a six-month period (autumn 2014 within the framework of a research & education project) we have constructed a professional double-station video-meteor detection network at the SOAO and BOAO mountain summits. Meteor detection is achieved by pixel-to-pixel motion-detection trigger. Each station is nearly autonomous and has three cameras with fixed viewing angles monitoring part of the night-sky over Korea. Various field of views are in use for testing purpose and captured video-meteor data is automatically transferred to a central FTP server on a nightly basis. Data is publicly available. The network has been operational since September 2014 and could serve as a prototype system for a more extended national network for meteor/fireball monitoring and detection in Korean airspace. We will report on the network construction, technical setup and present first results of detected meteors and fireballs. Further information: Meteors@KASI: http://meteor.kasi.re.kr.

This paper investigates the two academic revolutions of the Korean higher education system. Since economic catch-up began in the 1960s, Korea has strongly encouraged the activities of its higher education system to serve industrial development as it has progressed through various developmental stages. At the 'strong regulation' stage, universities focused on the provision of technicians. As the need for higher education grew, the 'massive expansion' stage emerged. Finally, most recently, university research and its direct contribution to the economy have been invigorated by strong governmental support. Possibly, this is due to the fact that the Korean government has strongly controlled not only industry but also academia. As long as other East Asian universities have similar conditions to those of the development of Korean universities, we can generalise this model not only to universities in other East Asian countries, but also to universities in other rapid catch-up countries.

The brain maintains homeostasis and normal microenvironment through dynamic interactions of neurons and neuroglial cells to perform the proper information processing and normal cognitive functions. Recent post-mortem investigations and animal model studies demonstrated that the various brain areas such as cerebral cortex, hippocampus and amygdala have abnormalities in neuroglial numbers and functions in subjects with mental illnesses including schizophrenia, dementia and mood disorders like major depression and bipolar disorder. These findings highlight the putative role and involvement of neuroglial cells in mental disorders. Herein I discuss the physiological roles of neuroglial cells such as astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, and microglia in maintaining normal brain functions and their abnormalities in relation to mental disorders. Finally, all these findings could serve as a useful starting point for potential therapeutic concept and drug development to cure unnatural behaviors and abnormal cognitive functions observed in mental disorders.

Recently, mobile phones have become necessary tools for everyday life. In this study, a device that can serve as a separation between a touch panel and an LCD module in a mobile phone was devised for mass repair processes at a smaill business. We used a wire cutting method to separate the bonding plate area between the modules. The device is composed of DC motors and stepping motors that can deliver a precise cutting motion. The motor control system is connected by individual control modules to a CAN network. The developed device showed excellent performance at high temperature conditions.

Recently, a number of high school, college and university run the School-Based Enterprises(SBE). The purpose of this study is to integrate Education for Sustainable Development(ESD) into the SBE run by vocational high schools. To achieve this goal, this paper takes following research considerations. First of all, this study review the theories of SBE and ESD. Secondly, We extract the factors to analyze from the ESD point of view and integrate them into the SBE in vocational high schools. Thirdly, this study suggests the necessity and methods to integrate ESD into the SBE. ESD could serve important roles to promote the SBE by stimulating the sustainable development and improving human abilities in solving both the environment and development problems.

Recent advances in low-cost remote monitoring systems have made it possible and practical to perform structural health monitoring (SHM) on a large scale. However, it is difficult for a single remote monitoring system to cover a wide range of SHM applications due to the amount of specialization required. For the remote monitoring system to be flexible, sustainable, and robust, this article introduces a new cost-effective, advanced remote monitoring and inspection system named DuraMote that can serve as a next generation supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for civil infrastructure systems. To evaluate the performance of DuraMote, we conduct experiments at two representative counterpart sites: a bridge and water pipelines. The objectives of this article are to improve upon the existing SCADA by integrating the remote monitoring system (i.e., DuraMote), to describe a prototype SCADA for civil engineering structures, and to validate its effectiveness with long-term field deployment results.

Purpose: This study examines the relationships between academic self-efficacy, major satisfaction, and career attitude maturity among nursing students. The study further explored the mediating effect of major satisfaction on the relationship between academic self-efficacy and career attitude maturity. Methods: Data were collected via questionnaires from 239 nursing students in D city and P city from March 1 to March 30, 2012. Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analyses were used to assess the relationships between the variables. Results: 1. The mean scores for academic self-efficacy, career attitude maturity, and major satisfaction were 3.81, 3.67, and 3.89, respectively. 2. Academic self-efficacy was positively correlated with major satisfaction and career attitude maturity. 3. Major satisfaction had a mediating effect on the relationship between academic self-efficacy and career attitude maturity. Conclusion: Academic self-efficacy is expected to serve as a foundation for the promotion of career attitude maturity.

Recent hospital building design considers not only its functional space composition but also contemplates "patient focused concept" in the early design stage. It is also called "hospital unlike hospital" and, usually, architects put their effort in building's exterior design to serve the coziness for patients. Therefore, this research analyzed and evaluated the exterior design of The K University Hospital Competition, as a case study, to understand recent hospital design trend and also to suggest a vision for future hospital design.

The IEEE 802.11 MAC (Media Access Control) Protocol supports two modes of operation, a random access mode for nonreal-time data applications processed by Distributed Coordinated Function (DCF), and a polling mode for real-time applications served by Point Coordinated Function (PCF). It is known that the standard IEEE 802.11 is insufficient to serve real-time traffic. To provide Quality of Service (QoS) of real-time traffic, we propose the Downlink-first scheduling with Earliest Due Date (EDD) in Contention Free Period (CFP) with suitable admission control. The capacity and deadline violation probability of the proposed system is analyzed and compared to the standard pair system of downlink and uplink. Analytical and simulation results show that the proposed scheme is remarkably efficient in view of the deadline violation probability.

Various applications store informations using difference databases according to respective goals. However, in order to serve data in several databases with one application program, it is needed to integrate data in respective databases. This paper describes development of integrated middle-ware system that selects only necessary informations from heterogeneous databases and save them.
