This paper describes a new voltage sag-swell generator for the test of custom power devices such as UPS, DVR, DSTATCOM, SSTS, etc. Voltage sag, swell, outage, and unbalance generation mechanism and the operating principle are described for the proposed scheme. The usefulness of the scheme is proved through simulations and experiments. The proposed scheme has good features of simple structure, high reliability, wide range of sag and swell variation, and easy control. Especially, the scheme can provide a cost-effective implementation of a power quality disturbance generator. Therefore, it is expected that the scheme will contribute to the self implementation of the system with low cost in laboratory.
This paper describes the development of a three-phase line-interactive DVR with a new sag detection algorithm. The developed detection algorithm has a hybrid structure composed of an instantaneous detector and RMS-variation detectors. The source voltage passes through the sliding-window DFT and RMS calculator, and the instantaneous sag detector. If an instantaneous sag is detected, the RMS variation detector-1 is selected to calculate the RMS variation. The RMS variation detector-2 is selected when the instantaneous sag occurs under the operation of the RMS variation detector-1. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is verified through computer simulations and experimental work with a prototype of a line-interactive DVR with a 3kVA rating. The line-interactive DVR with the proposed algorithm can compensate for an input voltage sag or an interruption within a 2ms delay. The developed DVR can effectively compensate for a voltage sag or interruption in sensitive loads, such as computers, communications equipment, and automation equipment.

When power consumption increases, power supply must be efficient and reliable for good power quality. The studies on compensation system of power quality are processing actively. Voltage sag among of factors for power quality is generally PI dual control that voltage sag compensation is used. But this control is no more available since of 120[KHz] ripple rejection. So we proposed the control algorithm using PID control in 3-phase unbalanced power system and the series voltage compensator, when voltage sag occurs.

The most common power quality problems in distribution systems are related to unbalanced voltage sags. Voltage sags must be detected quickly and corrected in a minimum amount of time. One of the most widely used methods for sag detection is based on the d-q transformation. This method has the disadvantage of missing the detection of unbalanced faults, because this method uses a voltage sag level signal obtained from the average of 3 phases for sag detection. In this paper, an adaptive filter sag detection method is proposed for Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVR) under unbalanced fault conditions. The proposed DVR controller is able to detect balanced, unbalanced and single phase voltage sags. A novel reference voltage generation method is also presented. To validate the proposed control methods, a 3-phase DSP controlling a DVR prototype with a power rating of 1.5-kVA has been developed. Finally, experimental results are presented to verify the performance of the proposed control methods.
$\beta $-1, 4-D-arabinogalactanase isolated from alkalophilic Bacillus sp. HJ-12, approximate Mw 42 kDa, was generally stable in the range of pH 6-10 and below 50$\circ$C and its highest activity was observed at 60$\circ$C with pH 7-9. The isolated $\beta $-1, 4-D-arabinogalactanase specifically hydrolyzed $\beta $-1, 4-galactosyl linkage that is the major structure of soybean arabinogalactan (SAG) but not $\beta $-1, 3-galactosyl linkage of the other polysaccharides. K. was estimated as 0.67 mg/ml by the method of Hanes-Woolf plot. No metals and chemical reagents inhibited the enzyme activity but urea did. The active site of this enzyme assumed to be tryptophan residue. The hydrolysis products from SAG, assayed by gel chromatography, TLC and HPLC, were predominantly galactotetraose (Gal$_{4}$) and triose (Gal$_{3}$) with a small portion. $\beta $-1, 4-D-arabinogalactanase hydrolyzed ONPG as well as SAG, and the degree of hydrolysis of SAG was 15% which is lower than that by the other $\beta $-1, 4-galactanases from different sources. SAG treated with this enzyme resulted in the reduction of specific viscosity up to 70%.

Voltage sags caused by line faults in transmission and distribution lines have become one of the most important power quality problems facing industrial customers and utilities. Voltage sags are normally described by characteristics of both magnitude and duration, but phase angle shifts should be taken account in identifying sag phenomena and finding their solutions. In this paper, voltage sags due to line faults such as three phase-to-ground, single line-to-ground, and line-to-line faults are characterized by using symmetrical component analysis, for fault impedance variations. Voltage sags and their effect on the magnitude and phase angle are examined. Balanced sags of three phase-to-ground faults show that voltages and currents are changed with equivalent levels to all phases and the zero sequence components become zero. However, for unbalanced faults such as single line-to-ground and line-to-line faults, voltage sags give different magnitude variations and phase angle shifts for each phase. In order to verify the analyzed results, some simulations based on power circuit models are also discussed.

PPWS, a large number of which a main cable of a suspension bridge consists of, must be precisely erected at a target location under construction considering the differences among design conditions. The absolute sag is measured for several PPWSs, which are reference strands and the relative sag is surveyed from them to other PPWSs, which are divided into several groups. And the adjustment of PPWS length is performed to erect it at target configuration. When PPWS is being under erection in a real bridge site, the procedures are as follows; evaluate sag sensitivities according to sag variation factors, calculate an adjustment length of PPWS corresponding to them and adjust a sag of PPWS by controlling the calculated amount of PPWS length. In this study, the differential-related equations of sag sensitivity were proposed for support movement of PPWS. Before site demonstration study of a series of them, we established a catenary model system and accomplished verification tests of them. From test results, the validation of them was done.
Event source locating is very important to improving the power quality level. This paper presents a method to determine the relative location of the voltage sag source according to the cause. For this, the concept of the relative location of the source is defined first. Then, the main causes of voltage sag are classified and their characteristics are discussed. From these investigations, the rules to determine the relative location of event source are proposed for each type and the overall algorithm to identify the relative location and the kind of event source is presented. Finally, the proposed method is applied to the IEEE 13-bus test system and it is verified that the method can help to pinpoint the accurate location of the event source.
