The ubiquitous transportation system environments make it possible to collect each vehicle's position and velocity data and to perform more sophisticated traffic flow management at individual vehicle or platoon level through V2V and V2I communication. It is necessary to develop a new data processing methodology to take advantage of the ubiquitous transportation system environments. This paper proposed to build 3-dimension data profiles to maintain the detailed traffic flow information contained in the individual vehicles' data and at the same time to keep the profiles from the meaningless fluctuations. Also methods to build the platoon profile and the shock wave speed profile are proposed, which have not been possible under ITS(Intelligent Transportation System) environments.

The classification of surface flaw types was performed on the basis of angular dependence of backscattered ultrasound. The copper line adhered on the surface, cower line filled in groove, pure groove and the normal edge were adopted as various surface flaw patterns of glass specimen. A backward longitudinal profile was formed probably by the longitudinal wane scattering at and near 1st critical angle. The wave trains at the peak angles of the backward radiation profiles showed different shapes according to the superposition ratio of scattered and leaky waves. The asymmetry of the backward radiation profile arose due to the scattering effect of flaw. The additive resonance effect of copper line appeared in the left side of the profile. The peak angles of both the longitudinal and radiation profiles were shifted toward small angle by the scattering effect.

The inhomogeneous Helmholtz equation is introduced for variable water depth and potential function and separation of variables are introduced for the derivation. Only harmonic wave motions are considered. The governing equation composed of the potential function for irrotational flow is directly applied to the still water level, and the inhomogeneous Helmholtz equation for variable water depth is obtained. By introducing the wave amplitude and wave phase gradient the governing equation with complex potential function is transformed into two equations of real variables. The transformed equations are the first and second-order ordinary differential equations, respectively, and can be solved in a forward marching manner when proper boundary values are supplied, i.e. the wave amplitude, the wave amplitude gradient, and the wave phase gradient at a side boundary. Simple spatially-centered finite difference numerical schemes are adopted to solve the present set of equations. The equation set is applied to two test cases, Booij’ inclined plane slope profile, and Bragg’ wavy bed profile. The present equations set is satisfactorily verified against other theories including the full linear equation, Massel's modified mild-slope equation, and Berkhoff's mild-slope equation etc.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of maternal monitoring, shared activities with children, maternal education-oriented behavior, and allowing children to own smart-phones on smart media usage patterns based on smart-phone usage time and purposes among elementary school children. Methods: The participants were 1,315 second-grade elementary school children from the 9th wave of PSKC. Latent profile analysis and the three-step estimation approach were used to examine the determinants of the latent profile and the effects of maternal parenting on the profile. Results: Four latent profiles were identified: 'High-level usage & Entertaining oriented,' 'Moderate-level usage & Social/entertaining oriented,' 'Moderate-level usage & Learning oriented,' and 'Low-level usage.' Additionally, results showed that each profile can be predicted by maternal monitoring, education-oriented behavior, and permitting children to own smart-phones. Conclusion/Implications: Our outcomes suggested that it would be necessary to understand the smart media usage patterns of elementary school children, considering both the amount of time spent with smart media and purposes of uses. Further, it is helpful for mothers to monitor children's daily activities, support their educational activities, and take the role of gatekeeper for smart media as a way of appropriate guidance for their children's use of smart media.
In this paper, we demonstrate that Common Mid-Point (CMP) cross-correlation gathers of multi-channel and multi-shot surface waves give accurate phase-velocity curves, and enable us to reconstruct two-dimensional (2D) velocity structures with high resolution. Data acquisition for CMP cross-correlation analysis is similar to acquisition for a 2D seismic reflection survey. Data processing seems similar to Common Depth-Point (CDP) analysis of 2D seismic reflection survey data, but differs in that the cross-correlation of the original waveform is calculated before making CMP gathers. Data processing in CMP cross-correlation analysis consists of the following four steps: First, cross-correlations are calculated for every pair of traces in each shot gather. Second, correlation traces having a common mid-point are gathered, and those traces that have equal spacing are stacked in the time domain. The resultant cross-correlation gathers resemble shot gathers and are referred to as CMP cross-correlation gathers. Third, a multi-channel analysis is applied to the CMP cross-correlation gathers for calculating phase velocities of surface waves. Finally, a 2D S-wave velocity profile is reconstructed through non-linear least squares inversion. Analyses of waveform data from numerical modelling and field observations indicate that the new method could greatly improve the accuracy and resolution of subsurface S-velocity structure, compared with conventional surface-wave methods.
We propose a waveform inversion method for SH-wave data obtained in a shallow seismic refraction survey, to determine a 2D inhomogeneous S-wave profile of shallow soils. In this method, a 2.5D equation is used to simulate SH-wave propagation in 2D media. The equation is solved with the staggered grid finite-difference approximation to the 4th-order in space and 2nd-order in time, to compute a synthetic wave. The misfit, defined using differences between calculated and observed waveforms, is minimised with a hybrid heuristic search method. We parameterise a 2D subsurface structural model with blocks with different depth boundaries, and S-wave velocities in each block. Numerical experiments were conducted using synthetic SH-wave data with white noise for a model having a blind layer and irregular interfaces. We could reconstruct a structure including a blind layer with reasonable computation time from surface seismic refraction data.

The frequency dependency of the Rayleigh surface wave was investigated indirectly by measuring the angular dependency of the backward radiation of the incident ultrasonic wave in the abrasion specimens, which was explained in view of the residual stress distribution. The peak intensity of the backward radiation profile decreased and the right half width of the profile increased with an increase of the variational rate of residual stress for the scuffing specimen. The peak intensity was also affected by the surface wave scattering during the propagation around the micro-damages. The peak angle might depend on not only the amount of residual stress but also the micro-structure. The result observed in this study demonstrates the high potential of the backward radiated ultrasound as a tool for the nondestructive evaluation of the subsurface gradients of materials.
We numerically investigate by the finite-difference time-domain method the effects of surface termination on directional emission exiting a photonic crystal waveguide. The directed power and far-field beam profile for the original proposal [E. Moreno et al., Phys. Rev. B 69, 121402 (2004)] and its enhancement [S. K. Morrison et al., Appl. Phys. Lett. 86, 081110 (2005)] are computed for different values of some important parameters. We find another surface termination condition with a positive surface displacement in the structure of the original proposal which has a negative surface displacement. Our surface termination is more effective than the original structure, and nearly as effective as the termination for the enhancement, for directional emission. Besides, our termination is simpler than that for the enhancement. We confirm the effectiveness of directional emission from our termination in its far-field beam profile, radiation intensity distribution, and additionally the wave-vector space representation by the Fourier analysis.
Unlike conventional CT scan, the helical CT scan uses continuous rotating CT equipment with a slip ring to move the patient's coach at a constant speed while continuously scanning. Slice sensitivity profiles in the Z-position(SSPz) using the conventional X-ray CT have a shape similiar to a rectangular wave, which slightly spreads out into plains below the mountain. However, in the helical CT, with an expansion of the base, the rectangular shape collapses and a mouatain-like shape can be seen. We need to investigate the fellowing factors in helical CT scanning;the ability to scan along the axis of the body, effective slice width, slice shape and the precision of coach velocity, Helical scanning with sprial X-ray track is different from the conventional scanning in terms of the principle of image reconstruction performed. We believe that the problems in helical scanning can be solved by understanding new the special parameters such as the bed moving speed and the interval of image reconstruction.
The evaluation of shear modulus is very important in various fields of civil engineering. Non-destructive seismic methods can be used to determine shear wave velocity ($V_s$) profile. Non-destructive seismic methods geneally consist of three steps: field testing, evaluation of dispersion curve, and determination of Vs profile by inversion process. Non-destructive seismic methods can be divided into two categories according to the number of receivers used for data reduction: two-channel tests and multi-channel tests. Two channel tests use apparent velocity dispersion curve and multi-channel tests use mode dispersion curves. Multi-channel tests using mode dispersion curve can reduce calculation time to determine soil profile and uncertainties in inversion process. So far, only multi-channel tests can determine mode dispersion curves but multi-channel test needs many receivers to determine reasonable mode dispersion curves. In this paper, HWAW (Harmonic Wavelet Analysis of Wave) method is applied to determine mode dispersion curves. HWAW method uses short test setup which consists of two receivers with a spacing of 1 to 3 m. Through numerical simulations and field application, it is shown that HWAW can determine resonable mode disperson curves.
