Optimal Controller Design for Single-Phase PFC Rectifiers Using SPEA Multi-Objective Optimization

  • In this paper a new method for the design of a simple PI controller is presented and it has been applied in the control of a Boost based PFC rectifier. The Strength Pareto evolutionary algorithm, which is based on the Pareto Optimality concept, used in Game theory literature is implemented as a multi-objective optimization approach to gain a good transient response and a high quality input current. In the proposed method, the input current harmonics and the dynamic response have been assumed as objective functions, while the PI controller's gains of the PFC rectifier (Kpi, Tpi) are design variables. The proposed algorithm generates a set of optimal gains called a Pareto Set corresponding to a Pareto Front, which is a set of optimal results for the objective functions. All of the Pareto Front points are optimum, but according to the design priority objective function, each one can be selected. Simulation and experimental results are presented to prove the superiority of the proposed design methodology over other methods.

T-S Fuzzy Tracking Control of Surface-Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors with a Rotor Acceleration Observer

  • This paper proposes a fuzzy speed tracking controller and a fuzzy rotor angular acceleration observer for a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) based on the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. The proposed observer-based controller is robust to load torque variations since it utilizes rotor angular acceleration information instead of the load torque value. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) sufficient conditions are given to compute the gain matrices of the speed tracking controller and the observer. In addition, it is mathematically verified that the proposed observer-based control system is asymptotically stable. Simulation and experimental results are presented to confirm that the proposed control algorithm assures a better transient behavior and less sensitivity under model parameter variations than the conventional PI control method.

  • This paper presents to control speed of induction motors with uncertainties. We use an adaptive backstepping controller with fuzzy neural networks(FNNs) and model reference adaptive system(MRAS) at Indirect vector control method. The adaptive backstepping controller using FNNs can control speed of induction motors even we have a minimum of information. And this controller can be used to approximate most of uncertainties which are derived from unknown motor parameters, load torque such as disturbances. MRAS estimates to rotor resistance and also can find optimal flux to minimize power losses of Induction motor. Indirect vector PI current controller is used to keep rotor flux constant without measuring or estimating the rotor flux. Simulation and experiment results are verified the effectiveness of this proposed approach.

  • In this paper, we designed the adaptive fuzzy controller(AFLC) using neural network and tabu search. We tuned the weights of neural network changing adaptively input/output gain of fuzzy logic controller and the gain of fuzzy logic controller using tabu search. To evaluate the proposed method's effectiveness, we apply the proposed AFLC to the speed control of an actual AC servomotor system. The experimental results show that AFLC has the better control performance than PI controller in terms of settling time, rising time and overshoot.

  • 본 논문은 부하에 대한 빠른 응답특성을 보이는 새로운 토폴로지를 제안하였다. PI제어기 출력이 포화될 때 windup 현상이 나타나고 그 결과로 성능이 저하된다. 따라서 전동기의 가변속 제어성능을 위해 가속시에는 개선된 Anti-windup PI제어기만을 사용하고, 감속시에는 추가로 부하의 특성을 고려하여 braking 동작을 사용하였다. 시뮬레이션 및 실험결과는 속도성능면에서 제안된 방식이 종래의 다른 제어방식에 비해 우수함을 보여 준다.

  • A control system design with Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM) is proven that effective for SISO control design. But the control system design for MIMO via CDM is not concrete procedure. In this paper presents the control system design method for quadruple-tank process via CDM. By using the decentralized method for both non-minimum phase and minimum phase are made. The results from Integral-Proportional (I-P) controller’s design via CDM and standard Proportional-Integral (PI) controls are also shown to compare the merits of the proposed controllers.

  • This paper, we describe the vector control of surface mounted PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using the fuzzy controller which is suggested algorithm. In these days, when vehicle is operated or not, whether the road is covered or not, the sensitivity of the steering column is not stable. To make up for it, the PI gain of a steering column controller is adjusted by experience. It becomes the price because it need a lot of sensor. Also it is difficult to implement robust control because we need a lot of parameters for variable road conditions which are the off road, the on road, a low battery voltage, a high battery voltage, a vehicle speed. In this paper, we propose fuzzy controller using the suggested algorithm which suitable for steering system. We test the fuzzy controller with the various condition. We get the good performance of fuzzy controller even if it is nonlinear system. We check a robust the fuzzy controller using the suggested algorithm.

  • This paper proposes a fuzzy logic based vector control for the gearless traction machine drive systems using a permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The performance of the proposed Fuzzy Logic Control(FLC)-based PMSM drive are investigated and compared to those obtained from the conventional PI controll-based drive system. We have confirmed theoretically and experimentally at different dynamic operating conditions such as step change in command speed, step change in load, etc. The comparative experimental results show that the FLC is more robust and, hence, found to be a suitable replacement of the conventional Pl controller for the high-performance elevator drive system.

  • In this paper, the speed control system of induction motor was proposed using vector control algorithm and space voltage vector PWM method to improve the dynamic performance of Induction motor. The control system is composed of the PI controller for speed control and the current controller using space voltage vector PWM technique. The high-speed calculation and processing for vector control is carried out by TMS320C31 digital signal processor and IGBT module. The proposed scheme is verified through digital simulations and experiments for 3.7[kw] induction motor and shows good dynamic performance.

  • In this paper, a method of on-line PI gain-tuninng is proposed for the speed control of brushless D.C. motor by investigating the pattern of input and output without estimating parameter. Proportional gain is tuned in the process to obtain a fast speed response by supplying the maximum constant input. And integral gain is appropriately tuned in the process of proportional control so that the response may be stably converged and the overshoot may be prevented. Therefore because both control and gain-tuning are executed concurrently, additional works that estimate parameters and so on aren't required in the proposed method. In the proposed method, both fast-response and overshoot problem are well solved, and it is more useful and convenient than existing auto-tuning methods in the speed control of D.C. motor. It is illustrated by simulations and experimental results that the proposed method is useful and stable.
