  • This work focused on aluminum foam sandwich (AFS) with different foam core densities and different face-sheet thicknesses subjected to constant amplitude three-point bending cyclic loading to study its fatigue performance. The experiments were conducted out by a high frequency fatigue test machine named GPS-100. The experimental results showed that the fatigue life of AFS decreased with the increasing loading level and the structure was sensitive to cyclic loading, especially when the loading level was under 20%. S-N curves of nine groups of AFS specimens were obtained and the fatigue life of AFS followed three-parameter lognormal distribution well. AFS under low cyclic loading showed pronounced cyclic hardening and the static strength after fatigue test increased. For the same loading level, effects of foam core density and face-sheet thickness on the fatigue life of AFS structure were trade-off and for the same loading value, the fatigue life of AFS increased with aluminum foam core density or face-sheet thickness monotonously. Core shear was the main failure mode in the present study.

  • In this paper, the electrical properties of PVD Ta and $TaN_x$ gate electrodes on $SiO_2$ and their thermal stabilities are investigated. The results show that the work functions of $TaN_x$ gate electrode are modified by the amount of N, which is controlled by the flow rate of $N_2$during reactive sputtering process. The thermal stability of Ta and $TaN_x$ with RTO-grown $SiO_2$ gate dielectrics is examined by changes in equivalent oxide thickness (EOT), flat-band voltage ($V_{FB}$), and leakage current after post-metallization anneal at high temperature in $N_2$ambient. For a Ta gate electrode, the observed decrease in EOT and leakage current is due to the formation of a Ta-incorporated high-K layer during the high temperature annealing. Less change in EOT and leakage current is observed for $TaN_x$ gate electrode. It is also shown that the frequency dispersion and hysteresis of high frequency CV curves are improved significantly by a post-metallization anneal.

  • A convex region covers a family of curves if it contains a congruent copy of each curve in the family, and a 'worm problem' for that family is to find the convex region of smallest area. In this paper, we find the smallest triangular cover of any prescribed shape for the family S of all triangles of diameter 1.

  • It is very important to have exact informations on the properties and characteristics of the sintering material as a new material of machine elements. To study the sintering spur gear and the sintering specimen to be consisted of Fe-Cu-C, the constant stress amplitude fatigue test is performed by using an electrohydrolic survo-controlled pulsating tester. Consequently, the S-N curves are obtained and the fatigue strength is compared with flaw depth. Accordingly, this study presents the fatigue strength of sintering spur gears, the critical notch depth of sintering materials and the effects of flaw depth on the bending fatigue strength.

  • In this study, the fatigue tests are performed on simply-supported R/C beams strengthened with steel plate and CFS (Carbon fiber sheet). Analysis results by Weibull distribution are compared with the test data. The unknown Weibull distribution parameters are estimated based on observations recorded in fatigue test. Safety factors for the number of cycles and the stress level are obtained. S-N-P curves are also generated from these testes and probabilities of failure.

  • In this paper, we prove that every f-biharmonic map from a complete Riemannian manifold into a Riemannian manifold with non-positive sectional curvature, satisfying some condition, is f-harmonic. Also we present some properties for the f-biharmonicity of submanifolds of $\mathbb{S}^n$, and we give the classification of f-biharmonic curves in 3-dimensional sphere.

  • This study deals with effects of heat-treatment on the bending fatigue of spur gears. The test gears are heat-treated by two different treatments. After carburization, one group of the test gears is quenched directly, while another group is furnace cooled, reheated then quenched. The fatigue test at a constant stress amplitude is performed by using an electrohydraulic serve-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and illustrated.

  • This paper deals with the bending fatigue strength of sintering spur gears. The test specimens are used to sintering spur gear to be consisted of Fe-C-Ni-Mn and SCM415 spur gear. The fatigue test at a constant stress amplitude is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and the enhancement of fatigue strength due to carburized treatment is clarified, Accordingly, this study presents the fatigue strength of sintering spur gear, SCM415 spur gear and carburized gears of them. The strength enhancement due to the carburized treatment is discussed.

  • In the present paper, we establish certain $L^p$ bounds for the generalized parametric Marcinkiewicz integral operators associated to surfaces generated by polynomial compound mappings with rough kernels in Grafakos-Stefanov class ${\mathcal{F}}_{\beta}(S^{n-1})$. Our main results improve and generalize a result given by Al-Qassem, Cheng and Pan in 2012. As applications, the corresponding results for the generalized parametric Marcinkiewicz integral operators related to the Littlewood-Paley $g^*_{\lambda}$-functions and area integrals are also presented.

  • Significant structure theory was applied to some liquid mixture systems ranging from simple monatomic molecule systems to polyatomic molecule systems, and the activity coefficients ${\gamma}$ of the liquid mixture systems were calculated over whole mole fractions using the following thermodynamic relation $RTln_{{\gamma}i} = (\frac{{\partial A}^E}{{\partial N}_i})_{T,V,N_i} $ where $A^E$ represents the excess Helmholtz free energy, and $N_i$ is the number of molecules of component i. The activity coefficients of the solutions such as monatomic molecule systems (Ar-Kr, Kr-Xe) and diatomic molecule systems $(Ar-O_2,\;N_2-CO)$ and $CH_4-Kr$ systems whose components have similar shapes for intermolecular potential curves were calculated successfully only with the ${\delta}E_s$, correction parameter for energy $E_s$, for mixture systems. For other systems such as $Ar-N_2,\;O_2-N_2\;and\;CH_4-C_3H_8$ whose components have dissimilar intermolecular potential curve shapes an additional correction parameters ${\delta}$V and even one more parameter ${\delta}$n were necessary [see Eqs.(10)∼(12)].
