The interest and participation of the rural experience is increasing as an alternative for the problems such as the decrease of the agricultural income facing the agriculture and the rural area, the decrease of the population, and the regional stagnation. The rural experience has recently been transformed into a software dimension such as programs and participation activities in the past. In addition, public awareness also positively evaluates agriculture and rural communities as the basis for supporting society and recognition of multiple functions. Furthermore, the intention of the citizen to the earnest village is increasing. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of rural experience and customer satisfaction of urban residents on the recognition of return to farm and rural areas. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the characteristics of rural experience had a positive effect on the farming villages by the program, the experience field and the host, and the customer satisfaction had a positive effect on the farming villages. Therefore, it is considered that a systematic approach to the rural experience is needed in the future because the experience of the rural people in the city has a positive effect on the earliest villages.
This study aims at providing the basic information required for policies on return to countryside for farming or else, through analysing the actual state of settlement and the community of people returning to rural areas. The comparative analysis of people returning toward general village and sub-urban residential complex in rural has been done to figure out the settlement environment. And the status analysis targeting the people returning to rural areas and original residents who live in general village have been done to figure out the actual state of the community. As a result, people returning toward sub-urban residential complex in rural moved for something else, while people returning toward general village in rural moved with the purpose of farming. Like this, the aims of moving into rural areas show difference. There is little conflict between people returning to rural areas and original residents, but some people have an intention to move the other place due to the conflict with original residents. So the community revitalization is needed for the active responses and suitable adaptation of them. On the basis of this study, policy tasks for return to countryside for farming or else were suggested as follows; 1) It is necessary to formulate each policy on return for farming and something else to rural areas discriminatively. 2) The economic support for a stable settlement of people returning to rural areas and the programs activating community with original residents are required. The discussion about the new community formation is needed to respond to the increase of people returning to rural areas.

The urban-rural complex area in Korea has a distinctive spatial structure where the urban area and rural area coexist. Therefore, in order to cope with the over-depopulation in the rural region of the urban-rural complex area, it is necessary to explore various policies that can prevent the existing residents from leaving, and in fact support them to remain where they currently reside. In this context, this current study analyzed the factors affecting the existing residents' continuous intention to remain by employing the '2017 Chuncheon City Social Survey' as a countermeasure for the over-depopulation of the rural region in the urban-rural complex area. Especially, since a regional identity is determined endogenously, this study used a simultaneous bivariate ordered probit model with giving consideration to the endogenous relationship between a regional identity and a regional residents' intentions. As a result, it was found on analysis that the regional residential intention was higher as the regional identity was stronger. Furthermore, the regional identity was stronger as a householders' age and residence period were longer, and also as the residents were satisfied with their work leisure and life residence balance. It was also found that the residents' intention was higher as the residents' satisfaction with the local medical service and their work was increased. Thus, supporting policy is needed that can provide appropriate quality-of-life services in a timely manner, but only after identifying the demand for these services by the rural residents in the urban-rural complex area.
In this study, the magnitude of the influence of word frequency on the change of perception of residents before and after resident competency strengthening education in villages where the rural field forum was conducted was analyzed. The results of analyzing the changes in residents' perceptions of the village development project according to the frequency of words are as follows. It was found that talking about surrounding factors had a greater influence than individual factors of keywords. In addition, the frequency of word use had a positive effect on the resident's perception. It was analyzed that items with high awareness of resident prior to resident competency-enhancing education had a low impact.

Both internally and externally environmental changes surround the rural areas such as rapid growth of the early-retired employee under the WTO, the Asian financial crisis in 1997, and the financial crisis in 2007 brought about much transformation in our rural residential environment. According to this changes and demands, the rural areas have been transformed from the area for farmer to the area for farmer and non farmer, that is, peoples that to leave the city to go back to farm or return to home village. Of this time, there needs a change in rural development policies which can make the urban residents migrate and settle in the rural areas as they are naturally embracing the rural life according to the social background and demand. In this point of view, we attempted, in this paper, to survey and analyze the changing trends of residential environment following the spatial composition with house types and rural villages in rural areas. The result of this study will be expected to be a reference for the direction of desirable residential environment in rural areas.

This study focuses on the actual condition and level of residents' participation in the case of Jinmok village, located in Jeonnam province Jangheung-gun Hwejin-myeon, and presents suggestions to inspire residents' awareness and enhance participation. This village has been developing a Green Rural Tourism Village Building Project under management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Consequently, the importance of residents recognizing they are a "community" has been emphasized as well as promoting the residents cooperation as a community. In addition, it was necessary to research ways to inspire the village to realize the ultimate goal of building rural tourism village. For this, in the beginning of the project, profitable work needed to be provided for the residents to participate in. Constructive participation by all residents is essential in each stage of the project s development. Operating a farm stay or running lodging facilities are options that could be considered. Moreover, it is imperative to immediately establish a awareness about the importance of participation in those who might have a negative or impartial opinion about the project, by providing education. The most efficient way to encourage residents' participation is to support various opportunities for education and field trips. Through these efforts, the residents are able to raise their level of education and develop their man-power as well. Once more, providing an incentive for residents' reliance is the kernel of the project. Considering the state of Korean rural areas, which are rapidly aging and becoming depopulated, green tourism can be a practical alternative for continuing rural development.

The rural development business policy of our country is seeking to change the existing top-down development method to the bottom-up development one. As residents' participation in village development is being focused, residents competence has come to be considered important. Thus, this study classified the village type by investigating resources of the target villages in Chungcheongnam-do through a rural forum, and examined education needs targeting the residents of the villages through a survey. The preferred the types, of education according to the types of farm villages were examined. It is needed to raise the efficiency of enhancing village development competence by regarding execution of the priority of competence enhancing education as a practical strategy. This also can be used as the baseline data for rural catchment typing research.

The purpose of this study was to compare the health services information need between urban area and rural area in Sooncheon City. For accomplishing this purpose, we selected 1,060 adults randomly, 744 urban residents and 314 rural residents were surveyed from 1st, December to 31st, December in 1999. Compared the difference between two areas by cross tabulation, and chi-square test were used. The results of this study are as follows: 1. There were statistically difference in sociodemographic characteristics between urban residents and rural residents, such as age, education, job, income, and insurance payment(p<0.001). 2. According to the health utilization behavior, types of health facility, satisfaction of medical cost, and satisfaction of medical results were statistically different between the two areas(p<0.001). Also utilization of the health service center, and accessibility were statistically different between urban and rural areas(p<0.001). 3. Experiencing the health service information, type of health service information, methods of information, effectiveness, and satisfaction were statistically different between the two areas(p<0.001). 4. And experience of using computer, and internet and preference of method of health service information were statistically different between urban and rural areas. Therefore, the construction of health information system should be carefully reviewed by community health service centers and they should consider the different residents information needs, and accessibility and convenience of community residents.

The purpose of this study is to provide necessary information for the establishment of remodeling range needed first to support the future remodeling of rural housing. For this, this study examined landscape characteristics of rural housing such as an outer wall, a roof, a fence, and a gate which are main elements of forming the landscape of a rural village and rural residents' perception for remodeling. The results were as follows. The subject rural housing mostly had a timber structure and a masonry structure. Common roof types were a hip-and-gable roof and a gable roof. Frequent materials were a panel, a tile, and slate and common colors were primary colors such as reddish brown, black, and gray. A fence made of cement blocks and finished by a white paint was often found. A closed gate with iron frames was common. A standup kitchen and a flush toilet inside the house were common. The family members of rural residents were mostly two including a farmer husband and his wife. Elderly people of sixty and over were the most common. For residential environment satisfaction, a half of respondents were not unsatisfied with residential environment mostly due to an old house. Most respondents who were not satisfied with residential environment had high perception for the need of remodeling. The most commonly asked remodeling part was a roof, followed by a toilet, and an outer wall, indicating that the need of exterior remodeling was higher than that of interior remodeling. For a remodeling method, a total improvement was preferred. Although some rural village housing was improved by support of the government, local governments, or social groups, there are still many old houses. As this co-existence of improved houses and old houses hinders the landscape of rural village, it is necessary to give a support. But rural residents' requests should be first actively reflected to establish a guideline of supporting rural house remodeling.
For the purpose of finding correlation between the characteristics of the rural residents and the maintenance activities of naturally favorable waterside spaces, this paper has conducted a research with the focus on the three model case regions in Japan. The methods of the research included surveys, interviews, and documents. The research confirmed that the three regions in focus have characteristics distinct from one another. The rate of participation in group activities was high in a region, with members that belong to groups most active in the maintenance activities. Reasons for their participation included: to manage the local area themselves; and to promote cooperation and friendships among the residents. This proves that participation in the maintenance activities has also attributed to the formation of close communities in the regions. According to the analytic conclusion of the factors related to participation, the residents' experience to have been involved in a professional education program which induces communal participation, acted more as the major factor than the individual ones.
