The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in the trend of the study of elderly housing for the suggestion of the direction in Korea. This study was the first series about the study of elderly housing and analysed the 164 pieces of researches in Japan. The data were analysed classification with contents first, then examined the class in chronological order, and suggest the trend in the study of elderly housing in Japan. 1. The study of elderly facilities was reported the highest interest and was completed in the latter half of the 1980s except the payment elderly home in Japan. 2. Their second interest was the study of general elderly housing. Rural elderly facilities as a local elderly housing were researched frequently. 3. The study of housing for three generation was studied much in early 1980s, but decreased concerns these days. The study of housing for the elderly was studied the latter of 1980s and concerns were sustained. 4. Trend of the study of elderly housing was classified as follows; 1950s was the stage of unconsciousness, 1960s was the stage of sprout, 1970s was the stage of blossom, 1980s was the stage in full bloom and then the study was peak in 1986 and slowly decrease the concern. 5. In 1990s the study of elderly housing was moved into elderly facilities in a consumer's view and older people's life their family relation.

Objectives: This research analyzed and compared housing transaction prices and depression rates according to housing types before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Data on housing transaction prices and depression rates from 2018 to 2022 in 25 districts of Seoul, South Korea, were utilized. Dummy variables were employed to account for potential confounders influencing the relationship between the variables. Statistical analysis was conducted using R, and the relationship between depression rates and housing transaction prices was examined through Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and panel data regression analysis. Results: The results of OLS and one-way random effects models indicated a significant relationship between apartment (p<.05) and officetel (p<.001) transaction prices and depression. However, detached/semi-detached and row/townhouse transaction prices did not exhibit a significant relationship with depression. Conclusion: It was observed that as apartment and officetel transaction prices increased in Seoul before and after the COVID-19 pandemic, depression rates also increased. Considering that changes in housing prices by housing type in South Korea may impact the mental health of local residents, it is deemed necessary to consider healthy housing and housing prices as comprehensive determinants of mental health.

Due to rapid decrease in population of farming and fishing villages and drain of young rural manpower to the cities, aging is being intensified, and the conditions of housing and welfare of elderly households are inadequate. Currently, group home is being discussed as part of specialized housing and welfare support policy for the people in the vulnerable class with poor self-supporting abilities such as the aged living alone in farming and fishing villages, and aged farming and fishing households. So the purpose of this research is to present the basic data for proposing the policy of supplying group home through examining the realities of housing and welfare of the people in the vulnerable class in farming and fishing villages. Survey was conducted on the 4 regions -Cheonan-si, Gongju-si, Yesan-gun, and Seosan-si - whose apartments were all occupied by the residents among the group homes for the elderly living alone in Chungcheongnam-do and the following results were derived from the analysis on the data collected from the survey. First, great effects can be attained at small costs by reorganizing and utilizing the public facilities that are unused or little used and the existing houses that are exposed to risks due to improper maintenance. Second, it can be pointed out that the residential environment of the vulnerable members of society was improved without impairing the existing village landscape. Third, housing welfare was enhanced without investing a large sum of money and the system to promptly cope with negligent accidents and emergency can be built and operated. Fourth, the cases promoted to solve the problems of the poor, unhygienic, and unsafe housing of the elderly and the vulnerable members of society were very positive and well worthy of being presented as planning direction of future group homes in farming and fishing villages. Finally, if they are operated entirely for free, it will cause the lack of the sense of ownership and the problems in securing the budget, so the ways of paying minimum individual housing expenses should be examined. The alternatives of housing welfare for the vulnerable members of farming and fishing villages are needed and the ways of constructive planning and researches should be continuously made. Also, the government's support policy should be actively promoted.
This study examined the key factors that significantly improved the demand of multi-habitation. It determined the factors at the macroscopic level (or push factors) and the microscopic level (or pull factors). Focusing on a microscopic viewpoint, this study looked at the process of settlement through investigating 78 MH residents in the Seoul metropolitan area. The survey included the questions, such as who they are, how they prepared for moving, and how much they enjoyed their rural lives. In addition, any differences in this process were analyzed depending on respondents' characteristics. Major findings are as follows: First, general macro-level circumstances seemed supportive for the MH lifestyles. Second, six keywords were determined to represent the recent MH trends. They are "semi-sedentism, clustering, young people, female, money, and policy". Third, the distances between the original towns for native residents and new second-home towns for MH residents affected the interactions among them. However, these two groups had better relationships when the second-home towns were apart from the original towns. I then considered the need of a buffer zone between the two residential areas for MH residents. The conceptual difference between MH residents (i.e., semi-sedentism) and original rural residents (i.e., sedentism) might require certain types of buffer zones to continue good relationships among them.
The Purpose of this study was to investigate the actual conditions of rural housewife's sex role attitude, the value consciousness of home management and the satisfaction of household work. Further, basic data for the improvement of the satisfaction of household work and the value consciouseness of home management will be produce through grasping the relationship of them. For these purposes, the data were collected by using questionnaire distributed to 292 housewives living in Cheong Song. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, One Way Anova, Pearson's Correlation analysis and Multiple Regression analysis. The results of the research were as follows : 1. Rural housewife's sex role attitude comparatively took the transitional position and the value consciousness of home management was modernized. Housewife's satisfaction of household work was generally usual. 2. There were significant differences in the sex role attitude according to the type of housing. 3. The value consciousness of home management of rural housewives was variable according to housewife's occupation, husband's occupation and the type of housing. 4. Among the independent variables, the number of family member, the number of children and family style. 5. There were significant differences in the satisfaction of household work according to housewife's sex role attitude. 6. Among the independent variables, the number of children, monthly family income, the sex role attitude, the value consciousness about household work, education and leadership had significant influence on the satisfaction of household work.

This study examined the trend of floor space characteristics, size characteristics and modeling characteristics so as to evaluate the satisfactory level of subjects living in Hanok. By doing so, the type of Hanok was classified into 5 groups. The satisfactory level was evaluated after the subjects resided in Hanok based on each type of housing. In the satisfactory level investigation, which was conducted after the residence, the overall satisfactory level on Hanok showed to be high. In the evaluation on the residence scale, positive results were generally achieved regarding 'full size of residence', 'number of rooms compared to residence size', 'size of living room', etc. The indoor environment of residence evaluation mainly showed positive results regarding 'ventilation', but most subjects were unsatisfied in regard to 'heating', 'noise', 'lighting', etc. In the behavioral factor evaluation of residents, positive results were gained regarding 'health', but comparatively negative results showed based on items of 'construction expense', 'burden of maintenance expense', 'investment value', etc. After analyzing the influential factors on the overall satisfactory level, results showed that 'dust inflow' of the physical site environment evaluation, 'size of living room' of the residence size evaluation, 'heating' of the residence indoor environment evaluation, and 'burden of maintenance expense' in the behavioral factor evaluation significantly influences the overall satisfactory level.
There are found rare specific alternatives for sustainable rural development although sustainable development has become popular common concept in international development arena. Korea is trying to reform rural development by introducing a block grants system since 2009 expecting for the efficiency of development investment. However, it seems that such new rural development system is far from realizing the sustainable development. The objectives of the study are to identify the roles and issues of the sustainable development policy and to suggest a policy model for realizing sustainable rural development. Based on the policy model hypothetically established, some policy alternatives were suggested: (i) the establishment of land use system considering sustainability perspectives; (ii) the preparation of environment management measures considering topographical traits; (iii) the improvement of landscape support scheme toward increasing biodiversity; (iv) the systematic implementation of agriculture-environment measures; (v) the implementation of sustainable development projects linking production to housing; (vi) the inclusion of sustainability indicators in rural development evaluation system.
The purpose of this study is to find a way to improve damaged forest in rural area in terms of both landscape . quality and regulation. Mountain and forest cover 65% of total land in Korea, and the shortage of areas for developing housing, road and facilities made us to use forest area for above purposes. This led various types of damages on the sensitive rural landscape visually and ecologically. There are rules and regulations for decreasing damaging effect by constructions on forest area, but it was not so effective because theses rules focused on quantitative issues only. This study will consist of three phases, 1. analyse landscape damage types by development tendencies in forest area 2. find diminution plan on each damage types 3. set improvement on rules and regulations both qualitatively and quantitatively. This study will meet the goal of improving and managing rural and forest landscape by providing objective standards, rational procedure and amelioration plan.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting residential mobility between urban and rural. After classifying urban and rural region based on discriminatory attributes of the regions, we applied a multinomial logistic model, using the sample data of 2020 Korea Population and Housing Census. The major findings are as follows. The young highly educated in cities avoided rural. The young less educated in rural engaged in 2, 3th industries as well as agricultural industry, but remained in low-paying and unstable jobs. In addition, various classes moved to rural and rising house prices in cities pushed people to rural. Therefore, it is necessary to develop diversified regional industry models and provide opportunities for high quality and stable jobs in rural by linking industrial demand, education and jobs. Also, preserving the rural environment, settlement conditions and residential environment are needed for satisfying various needs of urban residents who migrate to rural areas. While regional policies so far have focused on maintaining the population size and promoting a population influx, rural development and population policies should be established in a way that responds to diverse population classes in an era of population decline.
This study analyzed the leisure activity and using behavior of neighbourhood facilities for the aged. For this purpose, this study is to compare the preferred characteristics of the leisure and neighbourhood facilities according to housing type and region (urban/rural), The data of this study was collected by questionaire methods from 225 elderlies. The statistical analysis methods used in this study are frequency, percentage, chisquare test and anova, The results are following, l)The elderlies show differences in daily life and social relationship by housing type. 2)In leisure activities, the apartment elderlies preferred to sport, tour, climbing and fishing rather than the detached housing elderdies. 3)Apartment have more neighbour facilities than detached housing. But using frequency of facilities is low. Especially, most of the elderlies think that medical facilities is very important.
