In this study, we developed rotating machine vibration condition monitoring system based upon Windows NT and DSP Board. Developed system includes signal analysis module, trend monitoring and simple diagnosis using threshold value. Trend analysis and report generation are offered with database management tool which was developed in MS-ACCESS environment. Post-processor, based upon Matlab, is developed for vibration signal analysis and fault detection using statistical pattern recognition scheme based upon Bayes discrimination rule and neural networks. Concerning to Bayes discrimination rule, the developed system contains the linear discrimination rule with common covariance matrices and the quadratic discrimination rule under different covariance matrices. Also the system contains k-nearest neighbor method to directly estimate a posterior probability of each class. The result of case studies with the data acquired from Pyung-tak LNG pump and experimental setup show that the system developed in this research is very effective and useful.

An example-based dialogue system tries to utilize many pairs which are stored in a dialogue database. The most important part of the example-based dialogue system is to find the most similar utterance to user's input utterance. Modality, which is characterized as conveying the speaker's involvement in the propositional content of a given utterance, is one of the core sentence features. For example, the sentence "I want to go to school." has a modality of hope. In this paper, we have proposed a modality classification system which can predict sentence modality in order to improve the performance of example-based dialogue systems. We also define a modality tag set for a dialogue system, and validate this tag set using a rule-based modality classification system. Experimental results show that our modality tag set and modality classification system improve the performance of an example-based dialogue system.
We have implemented an inductive learning system that learns PROSPECTOR-rule-style classification rules from sets of examples. In our a approach, a genetic algorithm is used in which a population consists of rule-sets and rule-sets generate offspring through the exchange of rules relying on genetic operators such as crossover, mutation, and inversion operators. In this paper, we describe our learning environment centering on the syntactic structure and meaning of classification rules, the structure of a population, and the implementation of genetic operators. We also present a method to evaluate the performance of rules and a heuristic approach to generate rules, which are developed to implement mutation operators more efficiently. Moreover, a method to construct a classification system using multiple learned rule-sets to enhance the performance of a classification system is also explained. The performance of our learning system is compared with other learning algorithms, such as neural networks and decision tree algorithms, using various data sets.

Despite the efforts of financial authorities in conducting the direct management and supervision of collection agents and bond-collecting guideline, the illegal and unfair collection of debts still exist. To effectively prevent such illegal and unfair debt collection activities, we need a method for strengthening the monitoring of illegal collection activities even with little manpower using technologies such as unstructured data machine learning. In this study, we propose a classification model for illegal debt collection that combine machine learning such as Support Vector Machine (SVM) with a rule-based technique that obtains the collection transcript of loan companies and converts them into text data to identify illegal activities. Moreover, the study also compares how accurate identification was made in accordance with the machine learning algorithm. The study shows that a case of using the combination of the rule-based illegal rules and machine learning for classification has higher accuracy than the classification model of the previous study that applied only machine learning. This study is the first attempt to classify illegalities by combining rule-based illegal detection rules with machine learning. If further research will be conducted to improve the model's completeness, it will greatly contribute in preventing consumer damage from illegal debt collection activities.
With the development of the internet and computer technology, the amount of information through the internet is increasing rapidly and it is managed in document form. For this reason, the research into the method to manage for a large amount of document in an effective way is necessary. The conventional document categorization method used only the keywords of related documents for document classification. However, this paper proposed keyword extraction method of based on association rule. This method extracts a set of related keywords which are involved in document's category and classifies representative keyword by using the classification rule proposed in this paper. In addition, this paper proposed the preprocessing method for efficient keywords creation and predicted the new document's category. We can design the classifier and measure the performance throughout the experiment to increase the profile's classification performance. When predicting the category, substituting all the classification rules one by one is the major reason to decrease the process performance in a profile. Finally, this paper suggested automatically categorizing plan which can be applied to hierarchical category architecture, extended from simple category architecture.
To efficiently provide cloud computing services to users over the Internet, IT resources must be configured in the data center based on virtualization and distributed computing technology. This paper focuses specifically on the problem that new training data can be added at any time in a wide range of fields, and new attributes can be added to training data at any time. In such a case, rule generated by the training data with the former attribute set can not be used. Moreover, the rule can not be combined with the new data set(with the newly added attributes). This paper proposes further development of the new inference engine that can handle the above case naturally. Rule generated from former data set can be combined with the new data set to form the refined rule.

Computer and network security has recently become a popular subject due to the explosive growth of the Internet Especially, attacks based on malformed packet are difficult to detect because these attacks use the skill of bypassing the intrusion detection system and Firewall. This paper designs and implements a network-based intrusion detection system (NIDS) which detects intrusions with malformed-packets in real-time. First, signatures, rules in NIDS like Snouts rule files, are classified using similar properties between signatures NIDS creates a rule tree applying hashing technique based on the classification. As a result the system can efficiently perform intrusion detection.

This paper is to recognize and play tab chords from guitar musical sheets. The musical chord area of an input image is segmented by changing the image in saturation and applying the Grabcut algorithm. Based on a template matching, our approach detects tab starting sections on a segmented musical area. The virtual block method is introduced to search blanks over chord lines and extract tab fret segments, which doesn't cause the computation loss to remove tab lines. In the experimental tests, the prototype based classification outperforms Bayesian method and the nearest neighbor rule with the whole set of training data and its performance is similar to that of the support vector machine. The experimental result shows that the prediction rate is about 99.0% and the number of selected prototypes is below 3.0%.
This paper presents new pruning and learning methods for the fuzzy rule-based classifier. The structure of the proposed classifier is framed from the fuzzy sets in the premise part of the rule and the Bayesian classifier in the consequent part. For the simplicity of the model structure, the unnecessary features for each fuzzy rule are eliminated through the iterative pruning algorithm. The quality of the feature is measured by the proposed correctness method, which is defined as the ratio of the fuzzy values for a set of the feature values on the decision region to one for all feature values. For the improvement of the classification performance, the parameters of the proposed classifier are finely adjusted by using the gradient descent method so that the misclassified feature vectors are correctly re-categorized. The cost function is determined as the squared-error between the classifier output for the correct class and the sum of the maximum output for the rest and a positive scalar. Then, the learning rules are derived from forming the gradient. Finally, the fuzzy rule-based classifier is tested on two data sets and is found to demonstrate an excellent performance.
Prediction of travel time on road network is one of crucial research issue in dynamic route guidance system. A new approach based on Rule-Based classification is proposed for predicting travel time. This approach departs from many existing prediction models in that it explicitly consider traffic patterns during day time as well as week day. We can predict travel time accurately by considering both traffic condition of time range in a day and traffic patterns of vehicles in a week. We compare the proposed method with the existing prediction models like Link-based, Micro-T* and Switching model. It is also revealed that proposed method can reduce MARE (mean absolute relative error) significantly, compared with the existing predictors.
