Simulation Study on the Effect of Pre-blow Timing on the Injection Stretch Blow Molding

  • Research on the reduction of plastic use to prevent environmental pollution is urgently needed. Accordingly, studies on reducing the weight of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles are currently being conducted. PET bottles are fabricated by injection stretch blow molding. In this study, stretch blow molding for fabricating PET bottles using preform studied through a computer simulation. Blowing characteristics are analyzed by varying the start time of the pre-blow, which is one of the process conditions of stretch blow molding. Simulation results and the preform inflation process are presented, and the parameters of stretch ratio, stretching path, thickness distribution, and weight distribution of blown PET bottles are investigated.

  • Cleaning by injecting dry ice and water is a generally adopted trend these days to clean molds (injection, diecasting foundry, press, rubber mold, etc). This cleaning method is performed manually, or by installing multiple high pressure spray nozzles. We have manufactured a turbine cleaning module device that is able to clean diecasting modules at any position and angle in the space by mounting an articulated robot instead of the existing pipe type injection nozzle, to minimize lead time and enhance working yield of the cleaning process. In this paper, we analyzed process factors that are required to design the turbine module by reviewing number of revolution, and results according to different blade angles and thicknesses of the mold release injection turbine module, using computational fiuid dynamics (CFD).

Comparison of Injection Molding Characteristics according to Thickness Variations of Preform for PET bottle

  • Due to the problem of environmental pollution by plastics, it is necessary to decrease their consumption. In the case of PET bottles, it is essential to reduce the thickness of the bottle for the reduction of plastic used. For manufacturing PET bottles with reduced thickness, it is a prerequisite to design a preform with reduced thickness and study its molding capability. In this study, the injection molding capability was investigated after reducing the body thickness of the preform to 15% and 20%, respectively, for the two preform models currently in use. Injection molding analysis was performed on the existing models and on the models for reduced weight, under the molding conditions of the existing models. Using the computed results, temperature distribution, pressure distribution, deformation and clamping force were compared. Based on the analysis, the injection conditions of the preform model with less thickness were discussed.

Syringe Connector를 이용하여 조영제를 자동 주입장치에 연결 시 분쇄물 혼입에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mixing of Pulverization Matters when the Contrast Medium is connected to the Automatic Injection Device using the Syringe Connector)

  • 고무화합물 형태로 구성된 조영제의 병에 Syringe Connector의 Spike를 연결 시 고무의 찢김 정도를 알아 보고 찢김 및 분쇄로 인한 합성고무의 혼입 유무와 분쇄된 합성고무가 검출 시 분쇄물의 크기를 실험을 통해 알아보고자 하였다. 그 결과 찢김 정도의 경우 Syringe Connector의 끝과 최초 접촉하는 앞면이 약 $3.14{\pm}0.04mm$로 뒷면 보다 많이 찢겼으며, 실험 대상인 10 병의 조영제에서 평균 7 개에서 15 개로 모두 분쇄물이 검출되었다. 검출된 분쇄물을 이용하여 크기를 측정한 결과 평균크기는 약 $7.89{\pm}0.31{\mu}m$이었다. 향 후 다양한 실험 및 분석방법을 통한 추가실험과 더불어 흡인된 분쇄물 차단을 위한 미세 필터타입 자동주입장치의 개발이 필요하며, 분쇄물 유입 시 치명적 사고를 대비하여 관련기관의 관심 또한 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

LSR 사출성형의 공정조건 변화가 캐비티 압력 및 성형품의 기계적 강도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Variation in Process Parameters on Cavity Pressure and Mechanical Strength of Molded Parts in LSR Injection Molding)

  • Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) has been widely used in automotive, electrical, and medical components. Thus, research on the use of LSR in the injection molding process is required to obtain high-quality and high-performance products. In this study, a mold was fabricated to examine the effects of the process parameters on the molding and mechanical properties of LSR parts. A computer-aided engineering analysis was used to optimize the air vent depth and curing temperature to decrease the flash at the air vents caused by the low viscosity of LSR. Temperature and pressure sensors were mounted in the mold to determine the effects of the process parameters on the temperature and pressure in the cavity. The tensile strength of the LSR parts was also examined in relation to the process parameters.

성형조건과 수지의 종류에 따른 사출 성형품의 성형 수축 (Shrinkage in Injection Molded Part for Operational Conditions and Resins)

  • 사출성형에서 성형품의 수축현상은 사출온도, 사출압력, 금형온도와 같은 성형공정에 따라 다르게 나타나며 게이트의 크기 등과 같은 금형설계에 따라서도 다르게 나타난다. 또한 수지의 결정화 유무에 따라 다르게 나타나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 여러가지 공정변수와 수지 특성에 따른 성형 수축률을 결정성수지인 poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT)와 비결정성 수지인 polycarbonate (PC), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)를 사용하여 연구하였다. 결정성 수지가 비결정성 수지에 비해 약 3배 정도의 큰 수축률을 보였다. 사출 성형품의 성형 수축은 사출온도와 금형온도가 높을수록 그리고 사출압력이 작을수록 수축률은 커지는 경향을 보였다. 게이트의 크기가 커질수록 캐비티내의 압력전달이 원활하여 성형수축률은 작아 졌다. 또한 수지의 흐름방향과 흐름직각방향의 수축률 실험에서는 흐름방향의 수축이 더 작은 경향을 보였다. 게이트와의 거리에 따른 성형수축률은 게이트에서 가까운쪽의 수축이 먼쪽보다 더 큰 수축을 보였는데 이 현상은 잔류응력의 차이로 인하여 나타난 현상으로 해석된다.

자동차용 고강도 폴리머 복합재료의 변형과 강도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Deformation and Strength of High-Strength Polymer Composites Using Automobiles)

  • Nowadays study on recycling disused plastics for automobiles was lively progressed. Rubber and talcum powder was added to retrieve degradation of physical properties caused by recycling disused polypropylene. The effect of the temperature, the fatigue load and the loading speed on DEN(double edged notch) specimen which was made by the pp-rubber composites during fracture was studied by. DEN specimen was made on PP-rubber composites through the injection molding. With increasing temperature the fracture strength was linearly decreased and the fracture energy was increased by $0^{\circ}C$ and after that decreased. In the same temperature the fracture strength during increasing the notch radius was hardly increased. The fracture behaviour at low and high loading speed was different entirely. At high loading speed plastic region was small and fracture behaviour was seen to brittle fracture tendency. With increasing fatigue load fracture energy was first rapidly decreased and subsequently steady when radius of notch tip was 2mm, but Maximum load during fracture scarcely varied. The deformation mechanism of polypropylene-rubber composites during fracture was studied by SEM fractography. A strong plastic deformation of the matrix ahead of the notch/crack occurred. The deformation seem to be enhanced by a thermal blunting of the notch/crack.

  • Due to a low stiffness of cranktrain and a failure experience from a history within short development time, a viscous torsional vibration damper was applied in order to reduce the torsional vibration and keep the high reliability for the durability of cranktrain system in the direct injection diesel engine. As an improvement of the crankshaft stiffness by increasing the diameter of main and pin journal, a rubber type damper could be considered. In this study, the control factors of rubber damper, the moment of inertia ring, stiffness of damper and damping coefficient of ring, were investigated by DFSS method through the analysis work and the measurement in the real engine condition.

  • 고무 오링은 일반적인 사출 성형 방식으로 생산된다. 이때 정상적으로 성형되지 않은 제품은 무조건 불량으로 판별한다. 그러나 영상기반 판독 시 획득한 영상을 원본 그대로 판독 할 경우 정확도가 떨어지는 문제가 발생한다. 이에 획득한 영상을 적응형 이진화와 Convex Hull 알고리즘을 사용한 전처리를 통해 원본영상에서 고무 오링 부분만 추출하여 합성곱 신경망에 학습하였다. 테스트 과정에서 제안하는 전처리를 적용한 학습방법의 불량검출 성능이 제시한 기준치 보다 나은 성능을 보이는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

동일 유동거리 런너를 가진 LSR 성형품의 변형에 관한 연구 (A study on deformation of LSR injection moldings having the runners with same flow distance)

  • Recently, Silicone that one of the thermo-sets is used to making optical products such as LED lenses because of excellent thermal properties. LED lenses are required to keep the precise dimensions, so they must be molded to have the minimum deformation. Thermo-sets have the expansion characteristic on the part of thermal property, it is important to optimize the cure condition so that the deformation of the part become minimum. In this study, to investigate the relationship between the shrinkage by the curing and expansion by the thermal properties of the resin, reactive injection experiment was performed by setting the variables such as mold setting temperature, cure time. As a result, it was confirmed that there was a interval while the thermal properties were transferred to more active during the cure process. It is expected to help in determining the reactive injection molding conditions of the thermo-set parts as well as LED lens in order to reduce the amount of deformation.
