  • The purpose of this study is to develop the creative play environments for children. Physical environment is very important for play of child. Play activities of chad depends on materials and resources of physical environment around housing. To achieve the purpose of the study, following research questions are performed: 1) to investigating the play environments and its maintainence in Daejon 2) examining and analyzing the contents, safety, and functions of the playgrounds selected based on above findings 3) suggesting the creating play environments for child. Eighteen playground were selected and evaluated objectively by trainned personnel; the subjects(55children and 39adults) who used the playgrounds evaluated the playground subjectively. The results were as fellows: 1) Playgrounds selected in this study were conventional playgrounds, in which child can only do simple physical activities. The playground has installed fixed equipment in a row, in an effort to utilize whatever space available. However, such places are neither developmentally or economically sound. 2) The playgrounds evaluated in this study were very poor in matter of content, safety, and functions. The playgrounds lacks play materials, equipment, national features, storage, and do not follow national safety guidelines and standards. 3) The playground should offer much wider variety of natural material- textures including grass, dirt, stone, brick, plastic, metal, bark, leaves, sand, water, and a larger variety of plants, gardens, natural areas, and animals.

  • Jujube is one of korean most favorite fruits. Harvesting operations of the jujube farming, however, completely depend on hand labor. Especially, collecting operation requires about three times of hand labor compared with separate operation by impacting or shaking of twigs in the hand-harvesting system of jujube fruits. Consequently, jujube farmers sincerely demand the mechanization of the collecting operation of jujube fruits in the harvesting operation. A new collecting system was designed and constructed five parts-collecting pad, guide ring system, sorting system, frame with driving system, and handle with operation levers, which performed collecting operation of jujube fruits without missing fruits in five part functions, however, an extra future more deliberate study would need how to handle conveniently the collecting pad of the prototype in the narrow space of row of the jujube farm.

  • This paper deals with estimable functions of parameters of less than full rank linear model. In general, the parameters of an overspecified model are not uniquely determined by least squares solutions. It discusses how to formulate linear estimable functions as functions of parameters in the model and shows how to use projection matrices to check out whether a parameter or function of the pamameters is estimable. It also presents a method to form a basis set of estimable functions using linearly independent characteristic vectors generating the row space of the model matrix.

  • Two methods of nitrogen application at the 4th leaf stage were evaluated in direct-seeding rice cultivation on dry paddy soil: one was the top dressing of nitrogen on dry paddy condition before irrigation (TNDP) for labor saving, and the other was the top dressing of nitrogen on dry paddy with mechanical rotavation of the inter-row space (TNDPIR) for increasing the efficiency of nitrogen. To evaluate these two application methods, leaf chlorophyll contents, growth characteristics and yields were compared with two conventional methods, basal application (BA) and top dressing on flooded paddy condition at the 4th leaf stage (TNFP). The SPAD value of rice in TNDP was similar with that in TNFP throughout the whole growth stage of rice. Also, there were no differences in rice growth and yield between the two methods. However, in TNDPIR, the SPAD value was the highest during tillering stage among the four application methods, and the tiller number, LAI at heading stage and the panicle number were higher than the two conventional methods.

  • In this paper a new approach for image encryption based on quadruple encryption with dual chaotic maps is proposed. The encryption process is performed with quadruple encryption by invoking the encrypt and decrypt routines with different keys in the sequence EDEE. The decryption process is performed in the reverse direction DDED. The key generation for the quadruple encryption is achieved with a 1D Circle map. The chaotic values for the encrypt and decrypt routines are generated by using a 2D Henon map. The Encrypt routine E is composed of three stages i.e. permutation, pixel value rotation and diffusion. The permutation is achieved by: row and column scrambling with chaotic values, exchanging the lower and the upper principal and secondary diagonal elements based on the chaotic values. The second stage circularly rotates all the pixel values based on the chaotic values. The last stage performs the diffusion in two directions (forward and backward) with two previously diffused pixels and two chaotic values. The security and performance of the proposed scheme are assessed thoroughly by using the key space, statistical, differential, entropy and performance analysis. The proposed scheme is computationally fast with security intact.

  • This paper introduces a VLSI (Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit) implementation of the 2-D Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) with an application to image and video coding. This implementation, which is based upon a state space model, uses both algorithm and data partitioning to achieve high efficiency. With this implementation, the amount of data transfers between the processing elements (PEs) are reduced and all the data transfers are limitted to be local. This system accepts the input as a progressively scanned data stream which reduces the hardware required for the input data control module. With proper ordering of computations, a matrix transposition between two matrix by matrix multiplications, which is required in many 2-D DCT systems based upon a row-column decomposition, can be also removed. The new implementation scheme makes it feasible to implement a single 2-D DCT VLSI chip which can be easily expanded for a larger 2-D DCT by cascading these chips.

  • The use of the A' for the path search of the agent in the game map give the overhead of computing time in real time game processing. The other heuristic search algorithms do not guarantee the optical path. The route table of which the row is defined by current position, goal position, visiting position is presented in this paper. This route table is made in the game development phase and tilized in game playing. The visiting position which is contatined in the optimal path to the goal position from the current position can guarantee the optical path, and this mothod has no overhead on computing time. But the memory space is requred too much. This problem can also be solved using the data compression by skipping the duplicated route table.

  • Nowadays the increasing improvement of quality of life have been required more diversified housing environment. And it also focused on concern about Korean traditional housing style, Hanok. There were several studies applied to traditional style design on Hanok. but few on Hanokstyle apartment. So the purpose of this study were to identify the consumer awareness on Hanok style apartment plan and its design details. The research were done by questionnaire methode. It were distributed to 130 city and rural residents. 109 questionnaires were analyzed by frequency, Percentage, $x^2$-test, F-test, ANOVA, t-test, and factor analysis. The major results were as follows. First, 70% of respondents revealed their intention to live in Hanokstyle housing if it has improved conveniency and lowered maintenance expenses. Second, they preferred under 5 story row house type or apartment type Hanok located in suburbs. Third, Hanokstyle apartment characteristics were expected to have visual openness, good view, traditional decor, functional, rhythmical and transitional space. And also they wanted traditional Madang(inner garden) and Maru(a wooden floor room) located next to living room.

  • The purpose of this experimental study was to determine appropriate magnitude of the Gable bends to produce maximum retraction of the anterior teeth. The Calorific Machine was used to illustrate the tooth movement in three dimension. The experimental teeth except the first premolar were embedded in the artificial alveolar bone part. In a series of experiments, the extraction space was closed using arch wires with bull loops into which the gable bends of $10^{\circ},\;20^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}$ degrees were incorporated. The experiments were repeated three times for each degree of the gable bend. Before and after the space closure, radiographs were taken in the sagittal and occlusal directions using occlusal films. Analysis of variance and Scheffe post hoc test were used to determine significant differences among the three groups. The following results were obtained. 1. As magnitudes of the gable bends increased, more bodily anterior tooth movement was seen and the distance of retraction also increased. 2. As magnitudes of the gable bends increase, the amount of posterior tooth protraction decreased while intrusive and buccal movement increased. 3. The arch was coordinated by distal-in rotation of the canine and mesial-in rotation of the second premolar adjacent to the extraction space.

  • A new design technique is presented to stabilize cut slopes in cohesive soils by use of piles. The design method can consider systematically factors such as the gradient and height of slope, the number and position of pile's rows, the interval and stiffness of piles, etc. The design method is established on the basis of the stability analysis of slope with rows of piles. The basic concept applied in the stability analysis is that the soil across the open space between piles can be retained by the arching action of the soil, when a row of piles is installed in soil undergoing lateral movement such as landslides. To obtain the whole stability of slope containing piles, two kinds of analyses for the pile-stability and the slope- stability must be performed simultaneously. An instrumentation system has been installed at a cut slope in cohesive soil, which has been designed according to the presented design process. The behavior of both the piles and the soil across the open space between piles is observed precisely. The result of instrumentation shows that the cut slope has been stabilized by the contribution of stabilizing effect of piles on the slope stability in cohesive soil.
