Recently, there has been much interest in the spatial query which energy-efficiently acquires sensor readings from sensor nodes inside specified geographical area of interests. The centralized approach which performs the spatial query at a server after acquiring all sensor readings, though simple, it incurs high wireless transmission cost in accessing all sensor nodes. In order to remove the high wireless transmission cost, various in-network spatial indexing schemes have been proposed. They have focused on reducing the transmission cost by performing distributed spatial filtering on sensor nodes. However, these in-network spatial indexing schemes have a problem which cannot optimize both the spatial filtering and the wireless routing among sensor nodes, because these schemes have been developed by simply applying the existing spatial indexing schemes into the in-network environment. Therefore, we propose a new distributed spatial indexing scheme of the GR-tree. The GR-tree which form s a MBR-based tree structure, can reduce the wireless transmission cost by optimizing both the efficient spatial filtering and the wireless routing. Finally, we compare the existing spatial indexing scheme through extensive experiments and clarify our approach's distinguished features.
A multicast tree includes several, possibly a large number of, paths connecting source-receiver pairs, and network failure may disable part of the multicast tree. Reconstruction of the entire multicast tree to recover from a component failure is highly undesirable, because some group members have to suffer service disruptions even though the communication paths to/from them are not affected by the failure. To limit reconfiguration region and to maximize the likelihood of successful reconfiguration, we propose and evaluate a pre-planned reconfiguration policy for QoS multicast sessions. Specifically, we equip a reconfiguration path (RP) with each end-to-end path that connects a source-receiver pair in the multicast tree, and reserve resources in advance along the RPs. Efficient resource-sharing techniques are applied to reduce the amount of resources reserved for RPs but not used in the absence of failures. This way, we prevent uncontrolled competition among different multicast sessions which may simultaneously try to recover from failures. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme using simulation on randomly-generated networks. We use the shortest-path routing for QoS multicast sessions, and simulate both source-based and shared multicast trees. The evaluation results indicates that successful pre-planned reconfiguration can be achieved for all group members with reasonable overhead. Our scheme is also shown to adapt well to dynamic changes of group membership.

Recent research into wireless sensor network (WSN)-related technology that senses various data has recognized the need for spatio-temporal queries for searching necessary data from wireless sensor nodes. Answers to the queries are transmitted from sensor nodes, and for the efficient transmission of the sensed data to the application server, research on index processing methods that increase accuracy while reducing the energy consumption in the node and minimizing query delays has been conducted extensively. Previous research has emphasized the importance of accuracy and energy efficiency of the sensor node's routing process. In this study, we propose an itinerary-based R-tree (IR-tree) to solve the existing problems of spatial query processing methods such as efficient processing and expansion of the query to the spatio-temporal domain.

In this paper, we introduce a point-to-multipoint minimum cost flow problem with convex and demand splitting. A source node transmits the traffic along the tree that includes members of the point-to-multipoint connection. The traffic is replicated by the nodes only at branch points of the tree. In order to minimize the sum of arc costs, we assume that the traffic demand can be splitted and transmitted to destination nodes along different trees. If arc cost is linear, the problem would be a Steiner tree problem in networks eve though demand splitting is permitted. The problem would be applied in transmitting large volume of traffic from a serve to clients in Internet environments. Optimality conditions of the problem are presented in terms of fair tree routing. The proposed algorithm is a finite terminating algorithm for $\varepsilon$-optimal solution. convergence of the algorithm is obtained under monotonic condition and strict convexity of the cost function. Computational experiences are included.

The real-time multicast problem is to construct a multicast tree starting from a source node and including multiple destination nodes and that has minimum network cost with delay constraints. It is known that to find a tree of the minimum network cost is the Steiner Tree problem which is NP-complete. In this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm to solve the multicast tree with minimum network cost and the delay constraints. The computational results obtained by comparing an existing algorithm. Kompella algorithm, and the proposed algorithm show that our algorithm tends to find lower network cost on the average than Kompella algorithm does.
This paper proposes a dominant source-based tree (DSBT) that constructs a localized multicast routing tree for dynamic multicasting without rerouting. To constrain end-to-end delays a multicast tree needs to be reconstructed when a new node joins the group due to additive tree constraint. In DSBT, a multicast group G is expressed by a (DS, NCM) pair, where DS is a dominant source address and NCM is a normalized cost margin. A node wishing to participate in a group selects a path that complies with NCM toward DS such that the end-to-end cost is constrained without any rerouting. Simulation results show that the proposed method performed better in terms of the overall tree cost compared with the Nave algorithm and in terms of the end-to-end delays between any two members compared with the Greedy algorithm.

In this paper, we propose a new ECAD software for efficiently analyzing and debugging of digital architecture implemented in Verilog HDL or VHDL codes. This software firstly elaborates HDL codes so as to extract internal architecture structure, then generates several graphical aids such as hierarchical schematics by applying placement and routing algorithm, object tree to show configuration of each module, instance tree to show hierarchical structure of instances, and SPD (Signal Propagation Diagram) to show internal interconnections. It is more important function that same objects in different views(HDL codes, object tree, instance tree, SPD, waveform etc.) can be highlighted at the starting any object. These functions are sure to improve efficiency of manual job to fix bugs or to analyze HDL codes.

IP address lookup is very crucial in performance of routers. Several works have been done on prefix caching to enhance the performance of IP address lookup. Since a prefix represents a range of IP addresses, a prefix cache shows better performance than an IP address cache. However, not every prefix is cacheable in itself. In a prefix cache it causes false hit to cache a non-leaf prefix because there is possibly the longer matching prefix in the routing table. Prefix expansion techniques such as complete prefix tree expansion (CPTE) make it possible to cache the non-leaf prefixes as the expanded forms, but it is hard to manage the expanded prefixes. The expanded prefixes sometimes incur a great deal of update overhead in a routing table. We propose a bitmap-based prefix cache (BMCache) to provide low update overhead as well as low cache miss ratio. The proposed scheme does not have any expanded prefixes in the routing table, but it can expand a non-leaf prefix using a bitmap on caching time. The trace-driven simulation shows that BMCache has very low miss ratio in spite of its low update overhead compared to other schemes.
We present a new algorithm to minimize channel contention while sending multiple messages from multiple source to overlapped destination set on Multistage Interconnection Network (MIN) which supports wormhole routed turnaround routing. The multicast tree of the U-MIN(Unicast MIN) algorithm is useful in performing messages from one source to multiple destination but gives rise to a serious channel connection in performing multiple multicast because it has been designed for only single multicast. For multiple multicast communication on MIN, we address how to implement multiple multicast services efficiently. And a SPU-MIN(Source Partitioned Unicast MIN) algorithm is proposed and shown to be superior than the U-MIN algorithm for multiple multicast. The turnaround routing algorithm based on wormhole routing technique is employed as a message sending method.

In traditional unstructured P2P file sharing network, each peer establishes connections with a certain number of randomly chosen other peers. This would lead to redundant traffic and P2P network partition in mobile ad hoc network (MANET). We propose an approach to construct an efficient unstructured P2P overlay over MANET using underlying cluster-based routing (CBRP). One of the peers in the P2P network is used as a root-peer to connect all peers. Each peer maintains connection with physically closer peers such that it can reach the root-peer. The peer constructs a minimum-spanning tree consisting of itself, its directly connected neighbor peers and 2-hop away neighbor peers to remove far away redundant links and to build an overlay closer to the physical network. Due to on-demand nature of inter-cluster routing of CBRP, the positioning algorithm for MANET is used to retrieve the file by a peer from the source peer via shorter path in the physical network. We can show by simulation that our approach performs better in comparison with the existing approach.
