  • This paper reports the problem in the previous routing protocol, EAR, and proposes an energy aware routing protocol to solve the problem in it. Proposed routing protocol considers the number of hops, the possibility of node exhaustion, and the node energy amount at the same time from the source to the sink. Thereby, it could efficiently solve the potential network separation problem and the sensing hole problem in EAR. Proposed routing protocol could remove the problems in the previous routing protocols but it still gets the advantages in them.

  • Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANET's) are gaining popularity in research community with every passing year due to the key role they play in Intelligent Transportation System. Their primary objective is to provide safety, but their potential to offer a variety of user-oriented services makes them more attractive. The biggest challenge in providing all these services is the inherent characteristics of VANET itself such as highly dynamic topology due to which maintaining continuous communication among vehicles is extremely difficult. Here comes the importance of routing solutions which traditionally are designed using strict layered architecture but fail to address stringent QoS requirements. The paradigm of cross-layer design for routing has shown remarkable performance improvements. This paper aims to highlight routing challenges in VANET, limitations of single-layer solutions and presents a survey of cross-layer routing solutions that utilize the information from the MAC layer to improve routing performance in VANET.

  • Wireless community networks (WCNs) are considered another form of ownership of internet protocol (IP) networks, where community members manage and own every piece of equipment in a decentralized way, and routing for traffic is done in a cooperative manner. However, the current routing protocols for WCNs suffer from stability and scalability issues. In this paper, an enhanced routing protocol is proposed based on the optimized link state routing (OLSR) protocol to meet the standards of efficiency in terms of stability and scalability. The proposed routing protocol is enhanced through two phases: multicasting expansion and multipoint relay (MPR) selection based on an analytical hierarchical process (AHP). The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed routing protocol outperforms the OLSR protocol in terms of network control overhead and packet delivery ratio by 18% and 1% respectively.

  • This paper considers the analysis of QoS(Quality of Service) routing mechanisms to support the NGIs(Next Generation Internets). NGIs are constructing high-speed IP layer networks to support all data services. To support real time multimedia services on NGIs, it is important to satisfy the required QoS parameters on networks. To support QoS requirements for NGI networks, new QoS routing methods are essential. In this paper, serveral new QoS routing algorithms are explained. Some problems for the high speed QoS routing will be explained and possible solutions are suggested.

  • Flood routing is one of the most important engineering problems for the design of a spillway, and the procedures for the routing should be thoroughly understood by the engineers engaged in the planning of a spillway. There are many methods for the flood routing such as Muskingum, Steinberg, Puis, Holton, Goodrich, Rutter, Graves, Snyder, etc., which are being used in many countries. This article introduces the theory of the modified PuIs Method in detail which is exclusively being used in the Bureau of Reclamation, Department of Interior, U.S.A. Also, this article includes a routing example worked by the writter for the Ee-dong Reservoir of the Ki-ho Irrigation Association. in Kyong-gi Province.

  • With the advances in concurrent engineering, schedulability has become an important design issue in machine loading and routing procedure. In this paper, four rules to improve schedulability of loading and routing are formulated as a mixed-integer programming model based on machine, routing and tool flexibilities. In this model, these rules are represented as an objective function or constraints. The impact of rules on the quality of schedules for the result of loading and routing is measured with makespan, throughput and average machine utilization.

  • This paper proposes a routing model based on the HVHD for four-layer routing problems. Differing from the HVHV and HVHH models, the proposed HVHD model permits diagonal routing on the fourth laye rwith a grid of 45.deg., 90.deg. and 135.deg. directions. The developed algorithm which uses a channel-graph including weights routes a layer using diagonal model and the othe rthree layers using HVH model. Applications to several benchmark examples verify that approximately 10~25 percent reduction of channel density can be achieved compared to the conventional four-layer channel routing algorithms.

  • In this paper, an automatic routing algorithm using Fringe is described. The concept of the Fringe is very simple, but it provides a powerful and flexible tool for doing single layer routing. The automatic routing program is coded using C language, and implemented on a VAX11/750 and IBM -PC AT computer. The usefulness of the routing algorithms is shown by the execution of the program on some examples.

  • In this paper we present a model for the maintenance routing construction and the trainset allocation (maintenance routing problem). The model solves the maintenance routing problem using column generation algorithm which was used to combine constraint programming and linear programming. Ilog-cplex was used to solve the linear programming model and Ilog-solver was used to solve the constraint programming model. The computational experience is also provided.
