  • This study aims to analyze the accuracy of rover speed change in route surveying using RTK-GPS. Route surveying methods using GPS contain Static, DGPS, and RTK-GPS. Much research of navigation system, positioning of vehicles by DGPS, and accuracy analysis by GPS surveying have already been done. From this study, it is firstly found that DGPS is suitable for car navigation and sea navigation with an error of meter scale but not good for detailed construction, designing maps and updating GIS databases. Secondly, RTK-GPS can be used for managing gas pipes, water supply and drain pipes and fiber-optic cable that are needed to be controlled in a real time basis. Thirdly, since the accuracies of route surveying by RTK-GPS and DGPS are not correctly matched with the change of rover speed, the choice of route surveying method from those two should follow the need of accuracy fidelity Further study should focus on Cycle Slip problem and coordinate change problem in tunnel and mountainous areas.

  • Presently, research is hard to see design lot construction on actuality three-dimensional route although it applied three-dimensional techniques using constructed already two-dimensional plane design. Therefore, this research wishes to study about efficient decision-making at the public problem and design change that can happen during construction designing three-dimensional road and construction at actuality route location using VGIS.

  • This is a study on the selection of the optimum route using geographic information system. In general, the selection of route was classifed in order of candidate route zone, optimum route zone and optimum route, this study comes under optimum route that is the last part in the route planning. The optimum route is get attined on the weighted matrix table that based on landuse status, land value, slope degree of each grid cell of the test area, and also we suggest application possibility of geographic information system in the route planning with the comparision and analysis of the three selection route in this study.

  • It is getting more difficult to construct new transmission lines, due to the increase of people's demand resulting from the change of social environment and people's consciousness. In order to solve these complicated conditions. we developed a computer system to support the route selecting and surveying of a transmission line. This paper introdouces the methodology for route selecting, designing, surveying of a transmission line and tower designing process using a computer system.

  • The application of GSIS for most route determination is provided by selecting several basic data such as land use, land construction quantity and land price, and then establishing a database to analyze for the route determination. However, this strategy rarely considers the complicated multi-factors that are essential for route determination. To solve this problem, it is required to use the GSIS and attempt to support the decision of majority for optimum route determination and standardize the route determination procedure. Accordingly, in this study, the qualification of multi-factors was attempted using the AHP technique, and so the data for the route determination was provided effectively, which resulted in the optimum route determination. As a result of applying the AHP technique, optimum routes were selected more rationally than randomly applying the values of multi-factors as before.

  • With the advances of the big-data process technology, acquiring the real-time information from the massive image data taken by a mobile device inside a vehicle will be possible in the near future. Among the information that can be found around the vehicle, the route information is needed for safe driving. In this study, the automatic extraction of route information from the road sign imagery was dealt with. The scope of the route information in this study included the route number, route type, and their relationship with the driving direction. For the recognition of the route number, the modified Tesseract OCR (Optical Character Recognition) engine was used after extracting the rectangular-road-sign area with the Freeman chain code tracing algorithm. The route types (expressway, highway, rural highway, and municipal road) are recognized using the proposed algorithms, which are acquired from colour space analysis. Those road signs provide information about the route number as well as the roads that may be encountered along the way. In this study, such information was called “OTW (on the way)” or “TTW (to the way)” which between the two should be indicated is determined using direction information. Finally, the route number is matched with the direction information. Experiments are carried out with the road sign imagery taken inside a car. As a result, route numbers, route number type, OTW or TTW are successfully recognized, however some errors occurred in the process of matching TTW number with the direction.

  • Route selection needs the analysis function of GSIS to analyze and manipulate a lot of spatial information efficiently. Therefore, it needs the linkage of system requiring the knowledge and the experience of experts as a method that can estimate each quantitative route for an efficient route selection. In this study, the route selection model through construction and analysis procedure of position information using GSIS were presented, and route selection system linked with expert system was developed. This system is easy to be used and managed for presenting route alignment according to conditions as a graphic user interface environmental window system by applying three tiers based object-oriented method. Using GSIS, the various information required for route selections in database was constructed, the characteristics of subject area by executing three-dimensional terrain analysis was grasped effectively, and the control point through buffering, overlay and location operation was extracted. Three alternative routes between a beginning point and an end point inputted by route selection system were selected. Therefore, the applications of the route selection system are presented by applying this system to the real study area.

  • When a route is planned, the distance of route and earthwork volume have an important role as an economic factor. In this paper, an investigation is made on the selection of optimum route with respect to two factors above mentioned. For this investigation, a numerical test is also executed to two different types of terrain, i.e. terrain with constant slope and no undulation and terrain with slope and undulation. The results show that the shortest route is determined by the degree of undulation with no relation to the slope of topographic model, and the earthwork volume is affected by the amount of undulation and interpolation function.
