  • For the fine grinding process development of semiconductor monocrystalline silicon, wheel rotational speed, chuck rotational speed, feed rate and hysteresis force were controlled. Magic mirror system was used for grinding wheel pattern analysis. Curvature of wheel pattern was measured by fitting equation. The modeling of surface wheel pattern was related to wheel and chuck rotational speed. The calculated curvature of the model was well matched with the measured curvature. The statistical analysis indicated wheel and chuck rotational speed were significantly effective on.

  • The rotational loss is one of the most important problems for the practical applications of PM synchronous motor/generator. This rotational loss is divided as the mechanical loss by windage and bearing and iron loss by hysteresis loop and eddy current in the part of the magnetic field. So, In this paper, a double-sided PMSM/G without the iron loss is designed by analytical method of the magnetic field and estimation of the back-EMF constant represented as the design parameter. This design model consists of the double-sided PM rotor with Halbach magnetized array and coreless 3-phase winding stator. The results show that the double-sided PMSM/G without iron loss can be applicable to the required system without the rotational loss.

  • The $Fe_{87}Zr_{7}B_{6}$ amorphous alloy after neutron irradiation are studied hysteresis loop and complex permeability measurements. The total integration fluence of fast neutrons is varied from $1.92{\times}10^{14}$ to $4.85{\times}10^{16}n_{f1}cm^{-2}$. After neutron irradiation, the imaginary part of complex permeability in low frequency region decreased due to the decrease of wall motion, but the permeability in high frequency region increased due to the enhancement of rotational magnetization. The measurement of hysteresis loop showed the increase of magnetic softness, related to rotational magnetization, but saturation magnetization was decreased in neutron irradiation sample.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an analytical model for the simulation of the hysteretic behavior of RC (reinforced concrete) beam-column subassemblages under various loading histories. The discrete line element with inelastic rotational springs is adopted to model the different locations of the plastic hinging zone. The hysteresis model can be adopted for a dynamic two-dimensional inelastic analysis of RC frame structures. From the analysis of test results it is found that the stiffness deterioration caused by inelastic loading can be simulated with a function of basic pinching coefficients, ductility ratio and yield strength ratio of members. A new strength degradation coefficient is proposed to simulate the inelastic behavior of members as a function of the transverse steel spacing and section aspect ratio. The energy dissipation capacities calculated using the proposed model show a good agreement with test results within errors of 27%.

  • The changes of magnetic properties in neutron irradiated F $e_{81}$ $B_{13.5}$S $i_{3.5}$ $C_2$ amorphous ribbon were studied by X-ray diffraction, hysteresis loop, temperature dependence of magnetization and complex permeability. The fluences of thermal ( $n_{th}$) and fast ( $n_{f}$) neutron were 6.95$\times$10$^{18}$ $n_{th}$ c $m^{-2}$ and 4.56$\times$10$^{16}$ $n_{f}$c $m^{-2}$ , respectively. The changes of XRD Profiles were not observable at the neutron irradiated sample. The complex permeability spectra showed that the permeability from domain wall motion decreased due to the increase of pinning force against domain motion by the neutron irradiation, and the relaxation frequency of rotational magnetization moved to higher frequency region. The measurement of hysteresis loop showed the increase of magnetic softness, related to rotational magnetization, but saturation magnetization was decreased in neutron irradiation sample. The Curie temperature was decreased in the neutron irradiated sample.e.e.e.

  • In order to elucidate the operational characteristics of rotating heat pipes, the internal flow patterns and heat transfer performance are investigated. Flow patterns and its transition are studied with various rotational speeds by visualizing flows established inside a rotating tube. To verify those results of analysis, 2 heat pipes of the same geometries but fill charge rates of 7, 30% were manufactured and submitted to operating tests. Comparison of experimental results on heat transfer rate show a fairly good agreement with the analytical results. The analysis reveals that the optimum charge ratio is ranged in 4~7% depending on the quantity of thermal loads. but the heat pipe with 7% of fill charge ratio reached dry-out limitation at heat flux of $q^{{\prime}{\prime}}=6.2kW/m^2$ lower than that of analytic results. Transition of flow regime was well related to the correlation by Semena & Khmelev on transient centrifugal Froude Number Frc. But hysteresis phenomenon was observed in transition of flow regime, when the rotational speed was stepwisely changed in the way to undergo 1 cycle.

  • The realistic modeling of the beam-column semi-rigid connection in steel frames attracted the attention of many researchers in the past for the seismic analysis of semi-rigid frames. Comparatively less studies have been made to investigate the behavior of steel frames with semi-rigid connections under different types of earthquake. Herein, the seismic behavior of semi-rigid steel frames is investigated under both far and near-field earthquakes. The semi-rigid connection is modeled by the multilinear plastic link element consisting of rotational springs. The kinematic hysteresis model is used to define the dynamic behavior of the rotational spring, describing the nonlinearity of the semi-rigid connection as defined in SAP2000. The nonlinear time history analysis (NTHA) is performed to obtain response time histories of the frame under scaled earthquakes at three PGA levels denoting the low, medium and high-level earthquakes. The other important parameters varied are the stiffness and strength parameters of the connections, defining the degree of semi-rigidity. For studying the behavior of the semi-rigid frame, a large number of seismic demand parameters are considered. The benchmark for comparison is taken as those of the corresponding rigid frame. Two different frames, namely, a five-story frame and a ten-story frame are considered as the numerical examples. It is shown that semi-rigid frames prove to be effective and beneficial in resisting the seismic forces for near-field earthquakes (PGA ≈ 0.2g), especially in reducing the base shear to a considerable extent for the moderate level of earthquake. Further, the semi-rigid frame with a relatively weaker beam and less connection stiffness may withstand a moderately strong earthquake without having much damage in the beams.
