It is very important to investigate the hull response of a fishing vessel in waves to ensure the safe navigation and fishing operation in rough seas by preserving excellent seakeeping qualities. For this purpose, we measured pitching and rolling response of three fishing vessels in seas using real seas experimental measuring system and analyzed the data by statisticawl and spectral analyzing method. We compared the measured results with theoretical results to give the validity of measuring system and experimental results. From the result we know that a good agreement between the experimental and theoretical results are shown except following seas. But there are little difference between both results in the other deirection too, which are caused by the effects of short crested waves of real seas.
In this study, roll lock-in phenomena of freely spinning tailfins were investigated by a CFD code. To analyze a motion of freely spinning tailfins, this research use a Chimera method, an Euler code and a 6 degrees of freedom analysis. The numerical results of aerodynamic characteristics and roll rates of a canard-controlled missile with freely spinning tailfins show a good agreement with wind tunnel test results. Using the roll rates calculation result of freely spinning tailfins, roll lock-in phenomena is confirmed. Roll lock-in phenomena and Roll lock-in states can be predicted through effects of the induced vortex of the canards control and the analysis of the rolling moments of tailfins due to the bank angle.
An internal type roller ring gear(RRG) system composed of either a pin or a roller ring gear and its conjugated cam pinion can improve the gear endurance from that of a conventional gear system by reducing the sliding contact, while increasing the rolling motion. In this paper, we first proposed the exact cam gear profile and the self-intersection conditions obtained when the profile shift coefficient is introduced. Then, we investigated contact stresses and surface pitting life to fmd characteristics for surface fatigue by varying the shape design parameters. The results show that the pitting life can be extended significantly by increasing the profile shift coefficient.
The dynamic characteristics of the current collection process of the high-speed railway are investigated through signals acquired during a test run. The signals are obtained from accelerometers, load cells, and strain gauges attached to various positions of the pantograph, and they are processed in time-and frequency-domains to obtain the dynamic characteristics. The main natural frequency of the pantograph is found to be 8.5Hz. There also are components at low frequencies varying linearly with the train speed. The contact frequency components above 20Hz is attenuated as they pass through the secondary suspension. The main frequency component of the load cell signal is found to be related with the rolling motion of the panhead generated by the stagger in the catenary.
The moving vehicle with disturbances has the 6 dof motion in the pitching, yawing and rolling directions of two independent axes. The control system in such a moving vehicle has to perform disturbance rejection well. The paper presents PID controller with disturbance rejection function, low sensitivity filter and notch filter for the bending frequency rejection. The performance of a designed system has been certified by the simulation and experiment results.

A wheel and axle failure can cause a derailment with its attendant loss of life and property. The service conditions of railway vehicles have become severe in recent years due to a general increase in operating speeds. Damages of railway wheel are a spatting by wheel/rail contact and thermal crack by braking heat etc. One of the main source of damage is a residual stress. therefore it is important to evaluate exactly. A Residual stress of wheel is formed at the process of heat treatment when manufacturing. it is changed by contact stress developed by wheel/rail contact. Distributions of residual stress vary according to a magnitude of wheel load, a magnitude of friction when acceleration and deceleration. The objective of this paper is to estimate the influence of wheel motion on the residual stress distribution in the vicinity of the running surface.
In general Maglev (magnetically levitated vehicle) has about 4 or 5 bogies per one vehicle to improve stability of electromagnetic suspension and 4 air-spring per one bogie are to be equipped to prevent form excessive yawing and pitching motion of bogie. 3 leveling valve per one vehcile will be applied to control the height of carbody. This kind of vehicle is on the design stage, and design review will be carried out before manufacture. The suspension system of Maglev consists of 16 of air-spring, auxiliray reservoir and orifice, 3 leveling valve, which are different composition comparative to conventional rolling stock. To improve operational reliability of vehicle, additional ventilation valve will be equipped with airspring. This kind of new design concept requires fundamental design review. In this study, suspension systems of Maglev will be built as mathematical model. Then designed suspension system will be reviewed in view of various points through proposed suspension simulation.
The integral equation method to solve the boundary-value problem of a 2-dimensional body oscillating in the presence of a free surface generally breaks down at and near irregular frequencies due to the hypothetical flow inside the body. In this paper singularity distributions were extended to an inner free surface to remove the irregular frequency as Ohmatsu's work in 1978, and the solution for the above problem was found by using stream function. For various bodies including Lewis form cylinders, the hydrodynamic forces were calculated numerically at various wave numbers. From the results we concluded that the irregular frequencies can be removed even for the Lewis form cylinder as Ohmatsu done for circular cylinders, and calculated hydrodynamic forces by the present method are little higher than those of Ohmatsu's when the singularities are put on the inner free surface of the body. We specially point out that the solution for heaving motion converges in an oscillatory manner but not for swaying and rolling motions.
The objective of this study is to develop an automatic object changer unit to improve processing problems existed in the conventional horizontal machining center. To achieve this goal, this study designed a horizontal transfer as the second project continued to the first project that designed a upward and downward traverse unit. A horizontal traverse unit shows a symmetric structure and consists of frame, which consists of four unit tools, motor and reducer, which are fixed at a frame, operation unit with pinions, first traverse unit, and second traverse unit. Constraint conditions based on the operation mechanism with these elements were configured and obtained following results after modeling a model for a traverse motor. In the kinematic expression of sliding motion with one degree of freedom, the sliding motion is constrained. Also, the rack 3 installed at a frame is used to configure possible kinematic constraint conditions of the rack 2 according to the rolling motion of the pinion 2 in the first traverse unit. In addition, the moment of inertia that is a type of kinetic energy in a converted horizontal traverse unit in the side of the reducer can be applied to introduce the moment of inertia of a converted horizontal traverse unit in the side of the reducer by using the sum of kinetic energy in the rack and pinion, which is a part of the horizontal traverse unit. Also, the equation of motion of the converted upward and downward traverse unit in the side of the motor using the equation of motion of the motor. Furthermore, the horizontal traverse unit predetermines the mass of the first and second traverse unit and applied load including the radius and reduction ratio of the pitch circle in the pinion 1 and applied load to the rack 2. Then, a proper motor can be determined using several parameters in the upward and downward traverse unit in order to verify such predetermined specifications. In future studies later this study, a simulation that verifies the results of the previous two stages of studies using a finite element method.
