  • This study aimed to analyze the subjects, situations, and reflection levels related to role modeling experienced by medical students during their clinical clerkship and their own reflections. This study intends to suggest ways of improving how residents and clinical faculty should treat and teach medical students. Written interviews were conducted regarding senior medical students' role modeling experiences during their clinical clerkships in 2018 and 2019. Content analysis was conducted for a total of 224 cases from 196 students. Content analysis revealed three types of role modeling content: subjects (faculty, residents, nurses, peer students), situations (clinical competence, personal qualities, teaching skills), and the level of reflection (critical reflection, reflection, thoughtful action, and habitual action) in each case. As role model subjects, faculty were found to be the paramount role model (n=142, 62.83%). Role modeling was the most frequently performed for clinical competence (n=103, 45.98%). Clinical competence was frequently shown in communication and empathic listening during rounds and outpatient relationships between the patient and doctor. Regarding the level of reflection for role modeling, the number of critical reflections was 86 (38.39%) and that of reflections was 80 (35.71%). In particular, negative role modeling showed a high level of critical reflection in relation to faculty (64.44%) and nurses (8.89%). In conclusion, role modeling of medical students participating in clinical clerkships occurs in situations that the role models are not aware of, with positive or negative effects on the formation of professional identity among medical students.

Results: The elementary students and nursing students recognized health service and health education as the most important role expectation for school health teachers. The role expectation of nursing students was higher than those of elementary students. The elementary students' points of view for role expectation were statistically different according to their health status. Conclusion: To improve the school health teacher's role, understanding the client's expectation is necessary. In addition to the role of health service and education, counseling for elementary students should be developed.

  • This study is designed to find out how the recognition of the listener's role affects listening in Korean language learning. We assumed that recognizing the role of the listener can focus on important information. To confirm our assumption, we conducted an experiment on 37 Koreans and 32 KSLs. Koreans and KSLs were divided into two groups depending on whether or not they recognize the role of the listener. The results showed that Koreans and KSLs who recognized the role of the listener were better at listening to important information, and Koreans who recognized the role of the listener were better at judging important information. This study suggests that the role of listeners as context apply to Korean listening education.

The results showed that mother's smartphone overdependence was negatively correlated with parental role intelligence and negatively correlated with developmental stimulation, parenting, support, and management. The multiple regression analysis showed that there was a significant negative effect on the smartphone overdependency, parent role intelligence, and sub factors. This suggests that smartphone overdependence prevention education for mother should be needed for nurturing of desirable infants.

  • Background: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of role-play in dental hygiene education by analyzing learners' perceptions and experiences of role-play classes. Methods: Role-play was used as a teaching method to run dental medical communication and practice classes for 31 3rd graders in the Department of Dental Hygiene to investigate the learner's perception of role-play classes, effectiveness of the classes, and learner's perception of the experience. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to analyze the differences in learners' perceptions of the role-play classes according to the main characteristics related to dental health communication education. Results: The correlation coefficient between awareness of dental communication education (4.74 ± 0.35) and awareness of role-play classes (4.44 ± 0.48) was an Rs of 0.634, showing a significant positive correlation (p<0.001). Conclusion: Learners recognized that dental hygiene communication competency is important for dental hygienists. In addition, a strategic teaching design is necessary to reduce the learner's burden on role-play considering the learner's experience, which is perceived as a disadvantage of role-play
