  • In this study, the design, the fabrication and the evaluation of Rogowski coil are presented for the measurement of the high current pulse (the order of 100kA, $\sim$100Hz, 0.1msec$\sim$a few msec). And the fabricated Rogowski coil is tested and compared with the pre-proved rogowski coil.

  • Rogowski coil which detects magnetic flux on current changes. It is used for digital integration with watt-hour meter's current sensor, because, Rogowski coil has non-cored or non-magnetic core structure, so that, it cannot be saturated magnetically. This is a study for inventing accurate electric current sensors that have been applied on multi-layer ceramic substrate. We have confirmed its properties from each different layer's materials and pattern sizes by MWS 3D Electromagnetic field analysis program. And, after sensor manufacturing on multi-layer ceramic substrate, we confirmed its sensing quality is reliable as accurate electric current sensor for watt-hour meter.

  • Traditionally, instrument transformer of the ferromagnetic core type have been used for measuring current in GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear). Recently, with the introduction of digital technology at the protection relay or measurement device level, the use of new current sensor can be foreseen. Current measurement by means of Rogowski coil is just one illustration of this. This paper describes the progress of development of Rogowski-coil type CT for application in 170kV GIS.

  • This paper describes the theory and practical design of Rogowski coil and active integrator. The coils and integrators have the ratings as follows. 1) current ratings between 20kArms and 200kArms 2) current duration 3 seconds 3) time constant of primary circuit looms 4) inner diameter of coil is suitable for mounting at the busbar $200mm{\times}200mm$. The actual results in the short-circuit tests and compare with other sensors, such that shunt. are given also.

  • SiC MOSFETs require a faster and more reliable short-circuit protection circuit than conventional methods due to narrow short-circuit withstand times. Therefore, this research proposes a short-circuit protection circuit using a current-sensing circuit based on Rogowski coil. The method of designing the current-sensing circuit, which is a component of the proposed circuit, is presented first. The integrator and input/output filter that compose the current-sensing circuit are designed to have a wide bandwidth for accurately measuring short-circuit currents with high di/dt. The precision of the designed sensing circuit is verified on a double pulse test (DPT). In addition, the sensing accuracy according to the bandwidth of the filters and the number of turns of the Rogowski coil is analyzed. Next, the entire short-circuit protection circuit with the current-sensing circuit is designed in consideration of the fast short-circuit shutdown time. To verify the performance of this circuit, a short-circuit test is conducted for two cases of short-circuit conditions that can occur in the half-bridge structure. Finally, the short-circuit shutdown time is measured to confirm the suitability of the proposed protection circuit for the SiC MOSFET short-circuit protection.

  • 본 논문은 SiC MOSFET 디바이스를 사용하는 전력변환장치에서 Rogowski 코일을 이용하여 SiC MOSFET 디바이스에 흐르는 전류를 측정하여, 과전류를 검출하고 게이팅 신호를 차단하는 기법에 관하여 연구한다. SiC MOSFET는 소자의 특성으로 보편적으로 사용되는 과전류 검출 방법인 DeSAT 적용이 어렵기 때문에 Rogowski 코일을 사용하여 스위치 전류를 측정, 과전류를 검출한다. 본 논문에서는 PCB패턴 Rogowski 코일의 설계 방법뿐만 아니라 Rogowski 코일과 적분기의 대역폭에 대해서도 논의한다. 실험은 직류링크 커패시터에 SiC MOSFET 스위치 레그를 병렬로 연결하고, 직류링크 커패시터에 직류전압을 충전 후 스위치 레그를 약 6us정도 단락시켜 SiC MOSFET에 과전류를 발생시킨다. 이 때, 제안한 Rogowski 코일을 이용한 과전류 검출 및 차단 기법의 적용 전후를 비교하여 동작 및 성능(검출 및 차단 소요시간)을 확인한다. 마지막으로 실험 결과를 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 PCB패턴 Rogowski 코일을 이용하여 과전류 검출 및 차단 기법이 검증되었다.

  • To understand the fundamental parameters of Alvand tokamak, A Rogowski coil with an active integrator was designed and constructed. Considering the characteristics of the Alvand tokamak, the structural and electrical parameters affecting the sensor function, were designed. Calibration was performed directly in the presence of plasma. The sensor has a high resistance against interference of external magnetic fields. Plasma current was measured in various experiments. Based on the plasma current profile and loop voltage signal, the time evolution of plasma discharge was investigated and plasma behavior was analyzed. Alvand tokamak discharge was divided into several regions that represents different physical phenomena in the plasma. During the plasma discharge time, plasma had significant changes and its characteristic was not uniform. To understand the plasma behavior in each of the phases, the Rogowski sensor should have sufficient time resolution. The Rogowski sensor with a frequency up to 15 kHz was appropriate for this purpose.

  • 본 논문은 SiC MOSFET의 단락 검출을 위한 고정밀 Rogowski 코일 회로 설계 방법을 제안한다. 설계 방법을 제안하기 위해 먼저 Rogowski 코일의 기본 구성인 적분기를 실제 시스템 요구 사양에 맞추어 설계한다. 설계한 회로의 성능 확인을 위하여 DPT (double pulse test)를 실시하며, test 결과 분석을 통해 문제점을 파악하고 전류 센싱 정밀도 향상을 위해 입출력 필터 설계 및 Rogowski 코일 턴 수를 변경한다. 변경한 각 조건들에 대하여 DPT를 진행하고 각 test 결과를 기반으로 Rogowski 코일 회로 설계 방안을 제안한다.

  • 일반적으로 전류에 의한 자속변화를 검출하는 로고스키코일은 자성체를 코어로 이용하는 종전의 변류기(Current Transformer)와는 달리 공심이거나 비자성재료를 사용하기 때문에 자기적으로 포화되지 않으므로 디지털 적산 전력량계의 전류센서로 많이 활용되고 있다. 본 논문은 유전손실이 적은 LTCC기판상에 로고스키코일의 원리가 적용된 전류감지코일을 구현하기 위해 Rogowski Coil의 선폭, gap, 센싱부와 소거부의 권선수와 패턴 길이의 비율을 조정하여 그 감도특성을 알아보았다.

  • Evaluation system for calibrating Rogowski coiI(RC) up to primary current of 40,000 A have been established. The system consists of 40,000 A AC high current source, current transformer(CT) comparator, standard CT, RC under test, voltage to current convertor(VCC), buffer and CT burden. An AC high current is applied to the primary windings of both the standard CT and the RC under test, and then the CT comparator measures the ratio error and the phase displacement by comparing the secondary current of the standard CT with output current of VCC. For testing of RC, we have evaluated two RCs under test of primary current ranges of 0 A ${\sim}$ 2,000 A and 0 A ${\sim}$ 40,000 A with the accuracy class of 1 %. The extended uncertainty is 0.02 % ${\sim}$ 0.23 % for ratio error and 0.29 min ${\sim}$ 1.93 min for phase displacement in the primary current ranges of 10 ${\sim}$ 40,000 A.
