A Process Capability Index $C_{pd}$ Consistent with the Proportion of Nonconforming Items (불량률과 이치하는 공정능력 지수 $C_{pd}$)

  • Process capability indices (PCI) $C_p\;C_{pk},\;C_m,\;and\;C_{pmk}$ are widely used to evaluate the process performance. The PCI's have been evolved to consider the 'off targetness' more adequately. However, all of these indices are found to be inconsistent with the proportion of nonconforming items, in some cases. That is, the PCI for a process may result in higher value even when the proportion of defectives increases. For these reasons, we propose a new capability index, $c_{pd}$, which is consistent with the defect rate. The characteristics of the new PCI, $c_{pd}$ are investigated with respect to the existing PCI's. Some statistical properties of an estimator for $c_{pd}$ are also investigated by a Monte Carlo simulation. Sensitivity study under minor deviation from normality is also performed to show the robustness of $c_{pd}$. A good estimator for $c_{pd}$ is under study.

  • The current paper presents an effective methodology for assessing the reliability of electromagnetic designs when considering uncertainties of design variables. To achieve this goal, the reliability index approach based on the first-order reliability method is adopted to deal with probabilistic constraint functions, which are expressed in terms of random design variables. The proposed method is applied to three different designs of a superconducting magnetic energy storage system that corresponds to initial, deterministic, and roust designs. The validity and efficiency of the method is investigated with reference values obtained from Monte Carlo simulation.

  • 이 논문에서는 NTFS 파일시스템에서 여러 개의 클러스터에 걸쳐서 슬랙 영역에 데이터 숨기기를 수행하는 데이터 숨기기 방법의 강인성을 조사하기 위하여 디스크 조각모음 실험을 수행할 때 필요한 방법을 제안한다. 디스크 조각모음의 실행으로 클러스터의 위치가 변동되기 위해서는 여러 클러스터에 걸친 디스크 조각의 단편화가 일어날 수 있도록 파일을 생성하고 삭제하는 작업을 수행한다. 그 후에 용량이 큰 파일을 복사하여 여러 클러스터에 걸친 단편화된 파일을 작위적으로 생성한다. 단편화된 파일만을 남기고 그 이외의 다른 파일들을 삭제한 후에 디스크조각 모음을 수행한다. 이 실험에 필요한 준비과정과 실험과정을 제안한다.

Spatial prioritization of climate change vulnerability using uncertainty analysis of multi-criteria decision making method (다기준 의사결정기법의 불확실성 분석기법을 이용한 기후변화 취약성에 대한 지역별 우선순위 결정)

  • In this study, robustness index and uncertainty analysis were proposed to quantify the risk inherent in the process of climate change vulnerability assessment. The water supply vulnerability for six metropolitan cities (Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Gwangju, Daejeon, and Ulsan), except for Seoul, were prioritized using TOPSIS, a kind of multi-criteria decision making method. The robustness index was used to analyze the possibility of rank reversal and the uncertainty analysis was introduced to derive the minimum changed weights of the criteria that determine the rank reversal between any paired cities. As a result, Incheon and Daegu were found to be very vulnerable and Daegu and Busan were derived to be very sensitive. Although Daegu was relatively vulnerable against the other cities, it can be largely improved by developing and performing various climate change adaptation measures because it is more sensitive. This study can be used as a preliminary assessment for establishing and planning climate change adaptation measure.

A Performance Analysis of Hybrid-DSE-MMA Adaptive Equalization Algorithm based on Adaptive Modulus and Adaptive Stepsize (Adaptive Modulus와 Adaptive Stepsize를 이용한 Hybrid-DSE-MMA 적응 등화 알고리즘의 성능 분석)

  • This paper relates with the Hybrid-DSE-MMA (Hybrid-Dithered Signed Error-MMA) that is possible to improving the equalization performance by using the adaptive modulus and adaptive stepsize in DSE-MMA adaptive equalizer. The DSE-MMA possible to improve the robustness performance to external noise of SE-MMA by using the sign after adding the dither signal for get the error signal in order to update the tap coefficient. But it has a drawback of performance degradation in convergence speed and residual isi by using the fixed modulus and fixed stepsize. In this paper, it was confirmed that this equalization performance degradation was improved by applying the adaptive modulus and stepsize in DSE-MMA propotional to the output power of equalizer by computer simulation. In order to compare the improved equalization performance to currently DSE-MMA, the recovered signal constellation that is the output of the equalizer, residual isi, Maximum Distortion, MSE and the SER were used as a performance index. As a result of computer simulation, the Hybrid-DSE-MMA improve the equalization performance in every index, but gives slower convergence speed compared to DSE-MMA.

  • In this paper, we propose eigenstructure assigned sliding mode control for mismatched uncertain system. Variable structure control has the sliding mode in which the system is robust against the uncertainty and the sliding motion depends upon the sliding surface. Therefore, the surface design is one of the important problems. Also in mismatched cases, the uncertainty may affect on the sliding motion and may cause unexpected instability of the system. Thus, that should be considered, too. For robust sliding mode against the mismatched uncertainty, we suggest the design method of the sliding surface using the eigenstructure assignment, define an index as the measure of the robustness which shows the size of affordable unstructured uncertainty, and present the computation method. And also we propose the controller which can ensure the sliding mode and prove the robust stability of the proposed controller by using Lyapunov method. Finally we show the appropriateness of the proposed scheme for the mismatched uncertainty via the example.

3D Mesh Model Watermarking Based on POCS (POCS에 기반한 3D 메쉬 모델 워터마킹)

  • In this paper, we proposed the 3D mesh watermarking using projection onto convex sets (POCS). 3D mesh is projected iteratively onto two constraint convex sets until it satisfy the convergence condition. These sets consist of the robustness set and the invisibility set that designed to embed watermark Watermark is extracted without original mesh by using the decision values and the index that watermark is embedded. Experimental results verified that the watermarked mesh have the robustness against mesh simplification, cropping, affine transformation, and vertex randomization as well as the invisibility.

Collapse simulations of a long span transmission tower-line system subjected to near-fault ground motions

  • Observations from past strong earthquakes revealed that near-fault ground motions could lead to the failure, or even collapse of electricity transmission towers which are vital components of an overhead electric power delivery system. For assessing the performance and robustness, a high-fidelity three-dimension finite element model of a long span transmission tower-line system is established with the consideration of geometric nonlinearity and material nonlinearity. In the numerical model, the Tian-Ma-Qu material model is utilized to capture the nonlinear behaviours of structural members, and the cumulative damage D is defined as an index to identify the failure of members. Consequently, incremental dynamic analyses (IDAs) are conducted to study the collapse fragility, damage positions, collapse margin ratio (CMR) and dynamic robustness of the transmission towers by using twenty near-fault ground motions selected from PEER. Based on the bending and shear deformation of structures, the collapse mechanism of electricity transmission towers subjected to Chi-Chi earthquake is investigated. This research can serve as a reference for the performance of large span transmission tower line system subjected to near-fault ground motions.

A Study on Optimizing Quantization Steps for QIM Watermarking Schemes (QIM 워터마킹 방식에서의 양자화 구간 간격 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a method for enlarging quantization steps of a QIM watermarking scheme which determines the perceptual quality and robustness of the watermarked images. In general, increasing the quantization steps leads to good robustness but poor perceptual quality of watermarked images and vice versa. However, if we choose the quantization steps considering the expected quantization results as well as the original images, we can increase both robustness and perceptual quality of the watermarked images.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an effective iterative two-stage method (ITSM) for structural damage identification of offshore platform structures. In each iteration, a new damage index, Modal Energy-Based Damage Index (MEBI), is proposed to help effectively locate the potential damage elements in the first stage. Then, in the second stage, the beetle antenna search (BAS) algorithm is used to estimate the damage severity of these elements. Compared with the well-known particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and genetic algorithm (GA), this algorithm has lower computational cost. A modal energy based objective function for the optimization process is proposed. Using numerical and experimental data, the efficiency and accuracy of the ITSM are studied. The effects of measurement noise and spatial incompleteness of mode shape are both considered. All the obtained results show that under these influences, the ITSM can accurately identify the true location and severity of damage. The results also show that the objective function based on modal energy is most suitable for the ITSM compared with that based on flexibility and weighted natural frequency-mode shape.
