The evaluation of risk level or possibility of traffic accidents is a fundamental task in reducing the dangers associated with current transportation system. However, due to the lack of data and basic researches for identifying such factors, evaluations so far have been undertaken by only the experts who can use their judgements well in this regard. Here comes the motivation this thesis to evaluate such risk level more or less in an automatic manner. The purpose of this thesis is to test the fuzzy-logic theory in evaluating the risk level of traffic accidents. In modeling the process of expert's logical inference of risk level determination, only the geometric features have been considered for the simplicity of the modeling. They are the visibility of road surface, horizontal alignment, vertical grade, diverging point, and the location of pedestrain crossing. At the same time, among some inference methods, fuzzy composition inference method has been employed as a back-bone inference mechanism. In calibration, the proposed model used four sites' data. After that, using calibrated model, six sites' risk levels have been identified. The results of the six sites' outcomes were quite similar to those of real world other than some errors caused by the enforcement of the model's output. But it seems that this kind of errors can be overcome in the future if some other factors such as driver characteristics, traffic environment, and traffic control conditions have been considered. Futhermore, the application of site's specific time series data would produce better results.
In this study, interesting area of development is retro-reflective thin film and then slitting to form retro-reflective material to be conbined with other fibers to form having retro-reflective characteristics, which slitting yarn can then be to provide fabrics. Glass beads are microscopic spherical size with diameters ranging from several microns to several millimeters. Applying the effects of optical property, glass beads are consumed for road safety used to make traffic signs, safety clothing and others. Glass beads retro-reflective films can be turned into slit yarns through slitting yarn process. The slit yarns can be combined into textiles using diverse methods such as weaving to provide a fabric having retro-reflective characteristics. Lightness and Luminance was increased with decreasing of interval of slit yarn in the fabric. Also, the hue is shifted greenish and bluish with interval of slit yarn.
We can expect reduction of the sunlight absorption quantity to a structure and an earth surface, a decline of the surface temperature and a decline of the heat transport volume in what there is a method I give the sunlight reflectance in the aspect to the surface of the building by painting sunlight high reflectance paint, and to reduce the sunlight absorption quantity to a structure and an earth surface and does so, and, in addition, a method high water retentivity of tree planting and the road surface of the city space uses evaporation latent heat of the water by making it, and to restrain a rise in temperature is thought about. and It is thought that I reduce the sunlight absorption quantity to not only the structure but also other structures and attention gathers to the reflexive reflector reflecting in the direction again and it is wide as a marker of a board and the clothing of the traffic sign and is used the incidence energy from a source of light for this reflexive reflector now by there is it and devises surface structure again, and controlling reflection directivity for the sunlight for the purpose of raising night visibility.

In automobile highway tunnels, in order to maintain a suitable environment for drivers and traffic, visibility in the tunnel must be maintained, and the concentrations of poisonous substances including carbon monoxide must be kept at or below allowable levels. For this reason, in long tunnels and tunnels with heavy traffic, ventilation facilities are installed. When the ventilation facilities are run at full capacity, the environment in the tunnel is obviously adequately maintained, but this consumes a great deal of electric power. Consequently, a central problem in highway tunnel ventilation control systems is to keep the pollution concentration at or below the allowable level, and thus provide a safe environment for traffic, while consuming as little electricity as possible. This paper introduces an operation method of longitudinal flow ventilation systems with jet-fan, dust collector and vertical ducts.

The blind spot is an area where drivers visibility does not reach. When drivers change a lane to adjacent lane, they need to give an attention because of the blind spot. If drivers try to change lane without notice of vehicle approaching in the blind spot, it causes a reason to have a car accident. This paper proposes a night-time blind spot vehicle detection using cameras. At nighttime, head-lights are used as characteristics to detect vehicles. Candidates of headlight are selected by high luminance feature and then shape filter and kalman filter are employed to remove other noisy blobs having similar luminance to head-lights. In addition, vehicle position is estimated from detected head-light, using virtual center line represented by approximated the first order linear equation. Experiments show that proposed method has relatively high detection porformance in clear weather independent to the road types, but has not sufficient performance in rainy weather because of various ground reflectors.

A communications profile is a system that acquires information from communication links to an ambulance or other vehicle moving on a road and compiles a database based on this information. The equipment (six sets of HDTVs, fish-eye camera, satellite antenna with tracking system, and receiving power from the satellite beacon of the N-star) mounted on the roof of the vehicle, image data were obtained at Yokohama Japan. From these data, the polygon of the building was actually produced and has arranged on the map of the Geographical Survey Institute of a 50 m-mesh. The optical study (relationship between visibility rate and elevation angle) were performed on actual data taken by fish-eye lens, and simulated data by 3D-Map with polygons. There was no big difference. This 3D map system then predicts the communication links that will be available at a given location. For line-of-sight communication, optical analysis allows approximation if the frequency is sufficiently high. For non-line-of-sight communication, previously obtained electric power data can be used as reference information for approximation in certain cases when combined with predicted values calculated based on a 3D map. 3D maps are more effective than 2D maps for landing emergency medical helicopters on public roadways in the event of a disaster. Using advanced imaging technologies, we have produced a semi-automatic creation of a high-precision 3D map at Yokohama Yamashita Park and vicinity and assessed its effectiveness on telecommunications and ambulatory merits.

Travel distance is a parameter mainly used in the objective function of Construction Site Layout Planning (CSLP) automation models. To obtain travel distance, common approaches, such as linear distance, shortest-distance algorithm, visibility graph, and access road path, concentrate only on identifying the shortest path. However, humans do not necessarily follow one shortest path but can choose a safer and more comfortable path according to their situation within a reasonable range. Thus, paths generated by these approaches may be different from the actual paths of the workers, which may cause a decrease in the reliability of the optimized construction site layout. To solve this problem, this paper adopts reinforcement learning (RL) inspired by various concepts of cognitive science and behavioral psychology to generate a realistic path that mimics the decision-making and behavioral processes of wayfinding of workers on the construction site. To do so, in this paper, the collection of human wayfinding tendencies and the characteristics of the walking environment of construction sites are investigated and the importance of taking these into account in simulating the actual path of workers is emphasized. Furthermore, a simulation developed by mapping the identified tendencies to the reward design shows that the RL agent behaves like a real construction worker. Based on the research findings, some opportunities and challenges were proposed. This study contributes to simulating the potential path of workers based on deep RL, which can be utilized to calculate the travel distance of CSLP automation models, contributing to providing more reliable solutions.
Urban space structure tends to have a significant change in accordance with maintenance of urban infrastructure such as a traffic route. For this reason, quantitative analysis has been needed to establish spatial distribution and location patterns by considering change of both road accessibility and urban infrastructure level, which can have the most pervasive influence in urban development process. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze spatio-temporal urban morphology through considering distribution patterns of road among transportation infrastructures, population, and spatial structure of metropolitan areas, focusing on Seoul where population growth and the size of urban area have been dramatically increased. For this, we firstly developed and constructed time-series GIS database by using satellite images and topographic maps of the last 70 years to analyze variables which affect urban growth and transportation. In particular, we analyzed the transform of the system of the street by Space Syntax which is able to grasp hierarchical spatial structure through visibility of space and spatial cognition in terms of accessibility. What's more, we analyzed and visualized the relationship urban morphology and road according the regions of Seoul through IPA(Importance Performance Analysis). In terms of the integration land-use and transportation, Space Syntax approach is expected to contribute to efficient urban planning through understanding the influence which various transportation phenomena has an effect on urban development patterns.

This study analyzed the characteristics of traffic accidents among elderly drivers according to area type in Gyeonggido(urban areas, urban-rural complex areas, and rural areas). Traffic accidents caused by unsafe driving are common in all three types of areas. In urban areas and urban-rural complex areas, traffic accidents were more frequent due to traffic violations and intersection accidents, while rural areas were more affected by central lines. Urban areas and urban-rural complex areas require simpler signal exposures, such as a simple straight line, left turn, or straight line and left turn signal rather than complex signal operations, such as overlaps in a signal operation. Improvement of non-signal intersections and unprotected traffic signal processing is also needed. In order to prevent the intrusion of the central line in rural areas, the center line guard rail should be prevented from penetrating the center line, and the influence of the vehicle headlamp should be reduced in the opposite direction. It is necessary to improve the visibility by using fluorescent letters to enlarge the font size of traffic signs and road signs, particularly to increase visibility at night and prevent traffic accidents at sunset. Minimal, simplified should be provided rather than complex phrases and information.
