The Roadlighting Simulation Using the Lightscape (Lightscape를 사용한 도로조명 시뮬레이션)

  • This report investigates the road lighting systems by using the road lighting simulation system which is the 'Lightscape', and compares the result of the simulation with criterion of the road lighting system. The solution of that is almost equal to the criterion of the road lighting system. With this simulation, we hope to accurately investigate the criterion of the road lighting systems and design the road lighting systems effectively.

An Assessment of the Disability Glare by the Road Lighting System Installed on Guardrails

  • To find an appropriate illuminance range for the disability glare caused by the road lighting system installed on guardrails, the influence of the disability glare was evaluated in comparison with the road lighting system of a streetlight. To test the disability glare, an indoor laboratory was constructed and a variation of luminance contrast threshold was evaluated. As a result, when the retinal illuminance was increased and glare sources existed within the narrow visual field, the luminance contrast threshold was increased. Although the road lighting luminaire was installed as low as the height of the guardrail on the road, when out of sight, the influence of the disability glare was small in comparison with the conventional road lighting system such as a streetlight.

  • Low road lighting is a lighting device that complements the shortcomings of existing pillar-type street lights. It is a lighting device that emits light from the side of the road surface and adjusts the luminance of the road surface like a light carpet. In this paper, to achieve full commercialization, we analyzed the luminance of the installed road surface and studied whether lighting could replace existing road lighting. In this study, the LMK (Luminance Measurement Camera) LABSOFT program was used to measure and analyze the surface luminance of road lighting, and the RELUX program was used to evaluate and analyze the simulation performance to determine light-based lighting conditions. A study was conducted to determine whether replacing pillar-type road lighting with low-level road lighting in a real environment would ensure comfortable and safe night vision for drivers at night.

  • In this paper we proposed the design of the hybrid road lighting control system using solar-light generation. The proposed hybrid road lighting control system be power offer through hybrid controller using Solar-Light Generation, and it is designed so that it can control lighting up. To control supply of continuous power when during power shortages. And the gateway be transmit control command using zigbee to road lighting to ensure that automatic lighting control on human sensing. In this case, the gateway is apply the lighting control algorithm that decisions to the status of the system by a pre-set time schedule and be able to operate. In this paper, the proposed efficiency analysis results of a hybrid road lighting control system was consumed power of 129.6W per day, 3.8KW per month, 47.3KW per annual. As a result, it were able to increase the energy efficiency than existing lighting control system by reduce power consumption of 76.2% and the electricity prices of 76.8%.

  • We studied drivers sight and physical status change by setup type of road lighting system. Influences on drivers emotional and motional change of lighting condition was investigated and function of road lighting setup position at night was analysed. Specially we analyzed influences of line type low hight lighting have influence on driver sight.

  • In this paper, It evaluated visibility about Metal Halide Lamp(MHL), High Pressure Sodium Lamp(HPS) and PLS(Plasma Lighting System) as Road lighting source in fog conditions. To evaluate visibility, it analyzed valuation of subjects about each light sources in special fog conditions. In result, it obtained that High Pressure Sodium Lamp has best visibility in photopic vision and PLS has best visibility in scotopic vision. This result is expected to help about select of Road lighting source.

  • In this paper, we used "Double Photometric System for Road Lighting" and measured roadway lighting of the metropolitan area by a measurement of illuminance and luminance. As a result, so many roads were dissatisfied with the permitted range of roadway lighting because of the road shape, lighting method, trees lining a street and obstacles.

  • Lighting system of road is an essential structure used for the safety of pedestrians and vehicles. Most of the lighting pole is made with steel which is vulnerable under corrosive environment. To overcome such corrosion problems, stainless steel and iron steel are used, but they are usually manufactured by hand which is not efficient. Due to their high strength and stiffness, when there is car collision with the lighting pole structure the safety of driver may not be ensured. Hence, the development of new-type lighting pole system which is easy to adjust the right on the road, lengthen the service life, and reduce the maintenance, is necessary. Lighting pole made with aluminum alloy is high in strength per unit weight, is strong against corrosive environment, and is easy to construct due to flexibility and right weight. But, because the strength and stiffness of the material is lower than that of steel, the structural safety and serviceability of the system can be a problem. To mitigate the structural problem associated with conventional lighting pole system, experimental investigation is conducted on the conventional lighting pole and rib reinforced aluminum alloy lighting pole, respectively. By comparison of results, it was found that the rib reinforced Mg-Si aluminum alloy lighting pole is efficiently applicable to the lighting pole system of road.

  • This paper investigates the lighting environment of railway system which are mainly used in KTX, Saemaul and Mugunghwa. When lighting used in KTX such as fluorescent lamp and incandescence is being replaced with LED lamp, illumination load of each railroad vehicle has been compared. The comparison result shows that the reduction of power consumption is 43.34% before and after the change. Also it has been performed the economic evaluation.

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this system (Rear Lighting System) is to provide illumination for the driver to operate the commercial vehicle safely after dark in highway, to increase the conspicuity of the vehicle, and especially be suggesting the finest observable improvement method, depending on color and pattern of rear lighting system of truck for midnight highway traffic. METHODS : Rear lightning system as an improving way for forward commercial vehicles lighting the securing sight from human factors and the surrounding environment in midnight driving. For this one, basic materials were collected from the data analysis about many types of problems, and filed investigation for establishing Driving Simulator. also taking statistic test to human volunteers after finding recognizable distance of them. RESULTS : As a result, color with the highest visuality is amber followed by green-red-blue as in order for all road types. Especially almost no difference is found between red and green, also when the light is turn off, recognizable distances is wide difference compared to turn on the light. One more thing about study per pattern, upper and entire lighting have similar recognizable distances, but under lighting shows short distance with difficulty securing sight from medians. And straight section shows similar recognizable distances. By finding visuality improvement method depending on color and pattern of supplement taillight, it is expected to suggest quantitative judgement standard for introducing regulation and improvement of supplement taillight. CONCLUSIONS : Night time vehicle conspicuity to the rear is provided by rear position lamps. this study is showed that the color of light ramp is not important to be safe driving, most important is to turn on the light, recognizable distances is big different compared to turn off the rear light, so when the drivng dark in highway, have to turn on the light for reducing risk.
