LED램프와 메탈램프가 도로조명환경에 미치는 특성 비교평가 (Effects of LED Lamps for Replacement of Metal Halide Lamp in Roadway Lighting Environment)

  • The problems of light pollution first became an issue in the 1970s when astronomers identified the degradation of the night sky due to the increase in lighting associated with development and growth. As more impacts to the environment by lighting have been identified, many attempts have been made for reducing light pollutions. To prevent light pollution and increase energy efficiency, Seoul Metropolitan Government(SMG) replaced metal halide road lighting to LED luminaire in four arterial highway in Seoul. The present study compared the lighting characteristics of metal halide and LED luminaire in terms of Korea Standard for road lighting(KS A 3701) and BUG rating from Illuminating Engineering Society of North America(IESNA). The results showed that LED luminaire increased road surface luminance up to 2 times in average compared to the metal halide environment. Also, LED luminaire reduced the glare value by 2 times and luminous flux over 50% than the metal halide luminaire. In comparison with the BUG ratings, LED luminaire rated 1 degree lower for the backlight ratings and 3-4 degrees lower for the uplight ratings. The measured values testified that the LED luminaire is effective for roadway lighting and light pollution reduction.

낮은 도로 조명을 위한 Reflector 설계 방법 연구 (A Study of Reflector Design Method for Low Road Illumination)

  • 본 논문에서는 낮은 도로 조명을 위한 freeform reflector를 설계하였다. 높이에 비해 넓은 차선까지 배광을 보내야 하는 낮은 도로 조명의 경우, 기존의 등주식 도로 조명에 비해 균제도를 맞추기 힘들다는 단점이 있다. 조명 등급 M3를 만족시키기 위해 reflector를 part 9개로 나누어 part 별 반사면의 기울기를 변화시켜 원하는 배광을 갖도록 하였고, 각 점을 기준으로 fitted curve를 그려 이에 따른 수식을 도출하였다. LightTools의 street light simulation을 통해 M3 조명 등급에 만족하는 것을 확인하였고 직접 제작하여 실제 도로상에서 조명 등급을 만족시키며 설계 결과에 대한 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • The aim of this research is designing road lighting installations(arrangement, mounting height spacing and overhang) which produce a certain level and distribution of luminance together with minimal glare. These can be varied over a limited range for a given luminance and road surface to achieve the required installation performance. In Korea there are no code of practice which lays down recommended performance criteria (Lavg, Uo, Ul, G, TI) with practical design guidance on how to achieve them. In case study design rules and current installation of road lighting in daegu city are analysed. The core of research are suggesting a new performance criteria and providing a set of table giving the maximum lognitudinal spacing between successive luminaires. The result of this research prescribes the combination of height and spacing for various road widths and arrangements which will achieve a specified minimum performance on straigt roads for particular luminaire and a particular road surf-ace.

LED 가로등 및 경관조명의 직류 누전 특성 분석 (DC Leakage Current Properties Analysis of the LED Lamps of Road and Landscape Lighting)

  • In this paper, we studied dc leakage current properties analysis of LED lamps of road and landscape lighting when leakage current appeared in dc power line. Generally, converter of LED lighting is divides to insulated type and non-insulated type according to components. When electric leakage happened in AC power line, earth leakage breaker(ELB) senses leakage current and interrupts electric circuit. In dc power source, We need experimental verification about dc electric leakage for electricity safety. In normal wiring conditions and in the water, in case of using insulated type of converter, dc leakage current did not occur. However, in case of using non-insulated type of converter, dc leakage current occurred and passed through into the ground. We found that there is a hazard of electric shock by dc leakage current. We expect that the results of these studies would be helpful for electrical safety of LED lamps for road and landscape lighting.

  • 본 논문에서는 도로 조명용 광원으로 쓰이는 메탈핼라이드램프, 고압나트륨램프, PLS의 세 가지 광원에 대해 안개 발생시 시인성을 평가하기 위해 특정한 인공 안개 조건하에서 각 광원들에 대한 피시험자들의 평가를 분석하여 명소시에는 고압나트륨램프가 시인성이 좋고 암소시에는 PLS가 시인성이 좋다는 결과를 얻었으며 이 결과는 앞으로의 도로 조명용 광원의 선택에 있어서 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • The outdoor lighting is provided for a variety of purposes, for work or recreation, for safety or security, for amenity and for advertising or display. But the effects of lighting on the natural environment can be difficult to quantify. At present, in many countries, various policies to manage the light trespass from outdoor light have been planned. For example, Model Lighting Ordinance(MLO) will allow communities to drastically reduce light pollution and glare and lower excessive light levels. The recommended practices of the IES can be met using readily available, reasonably priced lighting equipment. So, it this paper, we analyze the effect of road lighting on light trespass using by RELUX program. And then we consider the possibility of practical application of BUG rating in Korea.

  • 본 논문에서는 2분할 수광 방식의 측정시스템을 이용하여 수도권 일대의 도로의 조도와 휘도분포를 측정하여 국내 도로조명 실태를 파악함으로써 조명시설들의 특징에 대하여 분석했다. 측정결과 대다수의 도로가 도로의 형태, 조명기구의 점등방식, 도로주변의 가로수 혹은 장애물 등의 영향으로 도로조명 허용기준을 만족시키지 못하고 있었다.

250 W급 LED가로등의 배광 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Lighting Distribution Optimal Design of 250 W LED Streetlight)

  • Road lighting has emerged in importance as an essential system to secure safety and visibility for drivers and pedestrians. According to the Road Lighting Standards (KS A 3701), the luminance uniformity (U0) should be 0.4, the luminance uniformity for lanes (UI) should be 0.5, and a threshold increment (TI) of 10% should be satisfied. In this study, we conducted simulations using the Relux program in which the secondary optical lens was applied to a 21 W engine. Ten LED engines were installed on a two-way four-lane road, and the simulation result satisfied the requirements with U0 0.47, UI 0.63 and TI 8%. The U0, UI, and TI were compared with the angle of the LED streetlight varied in the range of $9^{\circ}{\sim}15^{\circ}$ with $0.5^{\circ}$ intervals. The range was selected as ${\pm}25%$ of the standard inclination angle of $12^{\circ}$ according to the Road Lighting Standard. The U0 was high and the UI and TI were low when the tilting angle was in the range of $9.5^{\circ}{\sim}10.5^{\circ}$. Consequently, an optimum-design of lighting distribution was obtained for the concrete two-way four-lane road when the inclination angle was $9^{\circ}$.

철도차량 조명 환경 연구 (A Study on Railroad Vehicle Lighting Environment)

  • This paper investigates the lighting environment of railway system which are mainly used in KTX, Saemaul and Mugunghwa. When lighting used in KTX such as fluorescent lamp and incandescence is being replaced with LED lamp, illumination load of each railroad vehicle has been compared. The comparison result shows that the reduction of power consumption is 43.34% before and after the change. Also it has been performed the economic evaluation.

  • Energy saving is as important as developments of green energy and alternative energy. The need for development of high-efficiency lighting apparatus further increased. This paper compared with the size of electrical equipment and analyzed the size of electrical capacity for the railway station building. Also discussed energy saving measures that can be achieved by using high-efficacy lighting fixtures, and the percentage of the lighting load capacity of the entire building.
