The formation of mesoporous pores in the microporous mordenite crystals was performed by controlled silica extraction on alkaline treatment. Inner tunable mesopore size could be controlled by changing the concentration of alkaline solution. The pore structure of mordenite zeolite was studied by instrumental analysis after alkaline-treatment. To obtain the cage type mesopores, Ti-coating on the ourside mordenite crystals before alkaline treatment was investigated to be the most effective. Polymeric chiral salen Co (III) complexes were successfully encapsulated in mesoporous mordenite zeolite by "ship-in-a-bottle" method. The heterogeneous catalyst could be applied in asymmetric ring opening of epichlorohydrine by water. It showed very excellent enantioselectivity with a high yield in the catalysis.
We synthesized PEG-PLA (or PLGA) amphiphilic di-block copolymers, which consist of PEG as biocompatible and hydrophilic block and PLA (or PLGA) as biodegradable and hydrophobic block, by ring opening polymerization of LA in the presence of methoxy PEG as a macroinitiator. The compositions and the molecular weights of the copolymers were controlled by changing the feed ratio of LA (and GA) to PEG initiator. The di-block copolymers could self-assemble in aqueous media to form micellar structure. A hydrophobic model drug, pioglitazone, was loaded into the polymer micelle using solid dispersion and dialysis methods, and the drug-loaded micelles were characterized by AFM, DLS and HPLC measurements. The drug loading capacity and in vitro release studies were performed and evaluated under various conditions. These results indicated that the amphiphilic di-block copolymers of PEG-PLA (or PLGA) could solubilize pioglitazone by solid dispersion method and the drug release was modulated according to micellar chemical compositions.
Dual-responsive amphiphilic block copolymers were synthesized by combining enzymatic ring-opening polymerization (eROP) of ${\varepsilon}$-caprolactone (CL) and ATRP of N,N-dimethylamino-2-ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA). The obtained block copolymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), $^1H$ NMR and FTIR-IR. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of copolymer was determined by fluorescence spectra, it can be found that with hydrophilic block (PDMAEMA) increasing, CMC value of the polymer sample increased accordingly, and the CMC value was 0.012 mg/mL, 0.025 mg/mL and 0.037 mg/mL for $PCL_{50}$-b-$PDMAEMA_{68}$, $PCL_{50}$-b-$PDMAEMA_{89}$, $PCL_{50}$-b-$PDMAEMA_{112}$, $PCL_{50}$-b-$PDMAEMA_{89}$ was chosen as drug carrier to study in vitro release profile of anti-cancer drug (taxol). The temperature and pH dependence of the values of hydrodynamic diameter (Dh) of micelles, and self-assembly of the resulting block copolymers in water were evaluated by dynamic light scattering (DLS). The result showed that with the temperature increasing and pH decreasing, the Dh decreased. Drug-loaded nanoparticles were fabricated using paclitaxel as model. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) had been explored to study the morphology of the hollow micelles and the nanoparticles, revealing well-dispersed spheres with the average diameters both around 80 nm. In vitro release kinetics of paclitaxel from the nanoparticles was also investigated in different conditions (pH and temperature, etc.), revealing that the drug release was triggered by temperature changes upon the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) at pH 7.4, and at $37^{\circ}C$ by an increase of pH.

Polyimide/silica(PI/silica) hybrid materials having physical or chemical bonds between the PI and silica network were prepared using sol-gel process through hydrolysis and polycondensation of tetraethoxysilane with the polyamic Acid(PAA) or end-capped PAA solution. PAA solution was synthesized by ring opening reaction of pyromellitic dianhydride and oxydianiline monomers in dimethyl acetamide solution. End-capped PAA solution was synthesized by the addition of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane in PAA solution. PI/silica hybrid samples were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, differential thermogravimetry, X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, and tensile tester. It has been demonstrated that the properties of hybrid samples were affected by the silica content and the bond type between PI and silica.

Rosiglitazone metabolites in rat plasma were analyzed after intraperitoneal and oral administration to rats. Seven metabolites (M1-M7) were detected in rat plasma (IP and PO), and the structures were confirmed using liquid chromatography-triple time of flight (TOF) mass spectrometry; as a result, the most abundant metabolite was M5, a de-methylated rosiglitazone. Other minor in vivo metabolites were driven from monooxygenation and demethylation (M2), thiazolidinedione ring-opening (M1, M3), mono-oxygenation (M4, M7), and mono-oxygenation followed by sulfation (M6). Among them, M1 was found to be a 3-{p-[2-(N-methyl-N-2-pyridylamino)ethoxy]phenyl}-2-(methylsulfinyl)propionamide, which is a novel metabolite of rosiglitazone. There was no significant difference in the metabolic profiles resulting from the two administrations. The findings of this study provide the first comparison of circulating metabolite profiles of rosiglitazone in rat after IP and PO administration and a novel metabolite of rosiglitazone in rat plasma.
Four kinds of new aliphatic diols were synthesized by the ring opening reaction of glycolide with 1,4-butanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, 1,4-cyclohexanediol, or 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, a difunctional initiator, in the presence of stannous octoate catalyst. The resulting diols were melt-polymerized with succinic acid, adipic acid, or suberic acid at 170, 190, or $220^{circ}C$ to produce new sequentially ordered aliphatic polyesters and their corresponding polyesters with random structure. Their glass transition temperatures ($T_g$) ranged from -40 to $30^{circ}C$, The sequentially ordered polyesters prepared at $170^{cir}C$ had higher $T_g$ of 5 to $10^{circ}$ than the polyesters with rand()m structure produced at higher temperature. From in-vitro degradation test the sequentially ordered polyesters was shower in the rate of hydrolysis in a buffer solution than the polymers with random molecular structure.
Mono-dispersed polyamide 6(Nylon 6) micro-particles sized in $4{\sim}5\;{\mu}m$ diameter were prepared by dispersion polymerization of ${\varepsilon}-caprolactam$ in liquid paraffin as a dispersion medium. Potassium metal(K) as a catalyst was separately added twice over the anionic ring-opening polymerization of ${\varepsilon}-caprolactam$. The size, shape, and size-distribution of prepared particles were varied with the concentration of anti-coagulant as well as the amount of initiator and catalyst. As the initiator concentration was in the range of $0.97{\sim}1.17\;wt%$ in monomer, about 90.6% of yield was accomplished. In addition, the highest yield of well-spherically shaped micro-particles was achieved by adding about $1.3{\sim}1.4\;wt%$ of catalyst.
We first synthesized N-phenylcyclotrisiloxazane ($D_3^{NPh}$) through a cyclization of $\alpha$,$\omega$- dichlorohexamethyltrisiloxane with aniline and prepared poly(dimethylsiloxane-co-N-phenylsiloxazane) copolymer (PDMS-NPSOX) by a ring opening copolymerization of them with hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane $D_3$. An acrylate monomer modified with PDMS-NPSOX was synthesized by using chloroethyl methacrylate and copolymerized with methylmethacrylate (MMA) and n-butylacrylate. The composition of the copolymer was chosen to control their glass transition temperature ($T_g$) to 25 $^{\circ}C$. By changing the comonomer from PDMS to PDMS-NPSOX, $T_g$ and adhesive strength of the copolymer were increased from 20 to 25 $^{\circ}C$ and from 1.76 to 2.23 N/cm, respectively.

The thesis covers the trend of research on bio-based polyurethane which is made from polyols derived mainly from plant oils and isocyanates. Castor oil is a triglyceride of ricinoleic acid containing hydroxyl group. Hydroxylation is done on the unsaturated bonds of the oils by the reactions of epoxidation/ring opening, hydroformylation/hydrogenation, ozonolysis/hydrogenation, and thiol-ene reaction. Polyols from hyperbranch, primary alcohol, polysaccharide have been studied to control the reactivity of the polyol and morphology of the microdomains. Besides, researches cover biodegradable polylactic acid polyol for medical use, fatty acid dimer polyol for the prevention of hydrolysis, and polyol with ionic group for water-borne polyurethane. Bio-based polyurethanes are being used in flexible and rigid foams, coatings, sealants, and elastomers.
Poly (L- lactic acid-co-glycine-L-lactic acid) and Poly (L-lactic acid-co-glycine-L- methyl lactic acid ) have been prepared by ring opening polymerization. The monomer 6, 6-dimethyl morpho-line-2, 5-dione was synthesized by the bromoisobutylation of 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide with glycin e. L-lactide, 6-methyl morpholine-2, 5-diode. and 6, 6-dimethyl morpholine-2, 5-diode have been used as starting materials for polydepsipeptides. The synthesized monomers and copolymers have been identified by NMR and FT-lR spa- ctrophotometer. The thermal propert ies and glass transition temperature(Tg) of the copolymers have been measured by differential scanning calorimetry. The Tg values of poly(L-lactic acid co-glycine-L-lactic acid) system are increased from $53^{\circ}C\; to\; 107^{\circ}C$ with increasing the mole fraction of 6-methyl morpholine-2, 5-diode. And the Tg values of poly(L-lactic acid co-glycine-L-methyl lactic acid) system are increased from $53^{\circ}C\;to\;138^{\circ}C$ with increasing the mole fraction of 6. 6-dimethyl morpholine-2, 5-diode The thermal stability of poly (L-lactic acid-co-glycine-L-methyl lactic acid) is slightly greta text than that of poly(L-lactic acid-co-glycine-L-lactic acid) due to the methyl group.
