A New Integrative Approach to Geography Education in the Social Studies Subject - with respect to Replacement of Geographical Contents in the Elementary-leveled Learning - (지리 교과의 통합교육적 접근방안 - 초등 사회과 학습 내용 조직을 중심으로 -)

  • The curriculum of integrated social studies is not conceptually established, but various forms pursuing so-called perfect integrated subject have appeared from elementary school to high school. But we cannot find out desirable integration in the elementary school though the apparent goal is to integrate all kinds of social concepts into one unit. The current method of integration has some problems over advantages people initially expected by integration. It is problematic in that students learn fragmental knowledges of geography without capturing the whole geographical concept structure or obtaining their own geographical viewpoint. Therefore, we purpose to reinterpret integration of social studies and reorganize the current textbook into the right direction under the assumption that simple mixture of knowledges is far from our goal of true integration. For this purpose, we suggest a new method for social studies as an integrated subject. Instead of providing knowledges unrelated to each other into one bundle, it helps students to see the real world in his own knowledge framework equipped with geographical viewpoint. The text we claim will show students that geography consists of three key concepts: physical environment, man and environment, and spatial structure. With this text, they will have an easy access to the relationships between key concepts and details, and between geographical concepts and similar concepts from other disciplines. The proposal contributes to both upcoming textbook development and classroom teaching by eliminating problems in the current social studies teaching.

  • Open banking, the global trend of the financial industry, is the driving force behind various innovations in the financial market in the future. The right policy direction and detailed tasks are important for triggering the differentiation and reunion of the financial industry. The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the background of open banking, domestic and international trends, and Korea's open banking policy. The policy directions and tasks for successful settlement and activation of open banking system are carefully suggested. Open banking is a policy to allow third party provider(TPP) access to bank accounts and open payment functions under the explicit consent of the customer. The opening of the open banking era is expected to begin competition and cooperation between banks and fintech companies in earnest, thus enhancing the competitiveness of the financial industry and contributing to the utility of financial consumers. To this end, policymakers should make every effort to advance open-ended financial settlement infrastructure, open banking legal grounds, and minimize side effects such as customer data leakage and poor financial system stability. Banks and fintech companies will need to focus on scattered customer financial information on a single platform and develop it into a convergence and discrimination of true financial services.

  • Totally implanted central venous access devices for chemotherapy (chemoport) are being used increasingly in lung cancer patients. Vascular catheters are associated with various complications including infection, thrombosis as well as spontaneous fractures and embolization of the catheter, which is known as 'pinch-off syndrome'. 'Pinch-off syndrome' refers to the compression of a subclavian central venous catheter between the clavicle and first rib resulting in an intermittent or permanent obstruction, which can lead to tears, transection, or embolization. We report two cases of fractured and embolized implanted subclavian venous catheters in which the fragments were removed percutaneously. A 62-year-old man presented with back pain with a duration of a few weeks. The chest radiograph revealed complete transsection and embolization of the catheter into the right atrium. In addition, a 47-year-old woman with a chemoport had a grade 3 pinch-off sign in a chest radiograph demonstrating complete transsection and embolization of the catheter into the pulmonary artery. Both cases were managed by retrieving the embolized distal fragment percutaneously and removing the proximal section of the catheter.

The Usability Study on Korea Express Bus with Wheelchair Access (한국형 휠체어 탑승 고속버스에 대한 사용성 연구)

  • This study examined the usability of express buses for wheelchair users to identify the effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction of wheelchair boarding systems. The usability of 11 manual wheelchair users and nine powered wheelchair users was evaluated using the following three scenarios: boarding the wheelchair accessible bus, moving inside, and alighting the bus. The results showed that 20 wheelchair users completed three scenarios, which was distributed between 0.33 and 1.36 in the difficulty rating scale of the efficiency. The task effort of the efficiency was measured from 8.36 to 11.78. The acceptability of the satisfaction was distributed between 1.00 and 2.00, and the system usability scale was measured in an acceptable boundary of the C grade at 70.7 points with manual wheelchair users and a B grade at 73.1 points with powered wheelchair users. This study has academic significance because it provides basic evidence for accessibility, securing the right to movement and research methods of public transportation for people with disabilities. To improve the quality level of usability in the future, more study with a larger number of research participants and various wheelchair types should be studied.

  • In South Korea, systems related to the provision of public data were recently implemented. As a result, policy changes have been made that are headed in the direction of actively providing open access to data held by public institutions, such as government agencies and local municipalities. The purpose of the open I will be divided into two broad. To ensure the transparency of government operations, and is intended to satisfy the right to know the people. The other one is to create national interest by utilizing the public data as one country endowment assets. In this study, we analyze the open situation of public data, were presented the improvement measures. Range of research, the public data that local government owns, to determine to have a central information and other limitations and characteristics, Seoul the beginning to the seventeen regional support municipality 228 that you have held for city districts were census. According to the research results, local governments, themselves produced, is a relatively reluctant to disclosure and understanding of the list of public data that are holdings.   • At present, Seoul City is putting the bus exclusive lane system into practice according to mass transit revitalization policy. Starting with the installation of roadside bus exclusive lane in the past, at present, even the road sections for central- lane bus exclusive lane system are on the increase. The purpose of this research is to analyze the factors giving impacts on bus accident on central bus exclusive lane and roadside bus exclusive lane. In case of the central bus exclusive lane, the 6 variables, such as the number of bus routes, number of access & entrance to central lanes patterns, whether the stop line of central lanes retreats or not, separated distance between the stop line of central lanes and crosswalks, traffic volume, and number of bus routes stopping at bus stops on reversible lanes, were found to have a significant influence on bus accidents. In case of roadside bus exclusive lane sections, the four variables such as the number of right-turn bus routes, whether to be chronic illegal parking & stopping, time for the walk signal, and forms of land use, etc. were found to have a significant influence on bus accident.

A Plan for Opening the University Libraries as the Central Axis of Learning Function (학습기능의 중심축으로서 대학도서관 개방 방안)

  • The expectation and the role for the university are rising due to the national competitiveness and change of environment in higher education in the knowledge based society, and the role to realize the effective lifelong study is also underlined in lifelong study society. And the social awareness is also diffused that the university should share the specialized substantial information resource with the community, and ensure the access right to knowledge and information to local inhabitant. Like this, the roll as an information center that the university can develop the local society as the component of the community according to the diffusion of lifelong study and the change of civic awareness. To check the open state of university libraries to community, this study surveyed and analyzed the open state of 4-year-course university libraries in Seoul and Gyoenggi region. On this base, this study emphasized that the university should open its libraries and positively offer the abundant specialized data of university libraries to the local residents. And this study suggested the way that the university libraries can cooperate connecting with the local public libraries and the school libraries as a positive service way of university libraries. Also this study accentuated that the university libraries should establish an open-door policy of its libraries and enlarge the service for the local residents by using the university conditions to maximum with the positive support of the university libraries of government and the university's bureaucracy.

A Fog-based IoT Service Interoperability System using Blockchain in Cloud Environment (클라우드 환경에서 블록체인을 이용한 포그 기반 IoT 서비스 상호운용 시스템)

  • Cloud of Things (CoT) can provide IoT applications with unlimited storage functions and processing power supported by cloud services. However, in a centralized cloud of things, it can create a single point of failure that can lead to bottleneck problems, outages of the CoT network. In this paper, to solve the problem of centralized cloud of things and interoperate between different service domains, we propose an IoT service interoperability system using distributed fog computing and blockchain technology. Distributed fog is used to provide real-time data processing and services in fog systems located at a geographically close distance to IoT devices, and to enable service interoperability between each fog using smart contracts and distributed ledgers of the blockchain. The proposed system provides services within a region close to the distributed fog entrusted with the service from the cloud, and it is possible to access the services of other fogs without going through the cloud even between fogs. In addition, by sharing a service right token issuance information between the cloud and fog nodes using a blockchain network, the integrity of the token can be guaranteed and reliable service interoperability between fog nodes can be performed.

  • Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the world is facing the most serious crisis since the Great Depression, and is facing a new paradigm of the Untact era. Korea has also announced various policies and legal systems, including the 'Korean version of the New Deal', but it is conflicting between the use of information and the protection of information. In this paper, we derive thresholds by analyzing policies, statutes and technologies in the public cloud. Based on this, we propose to introduce the "Building a Nationwide Public Virtual Machine" as a key task to secure the next-generation national growth engine so that all citizens can use digital services in a secure and reliable environment with equal access to information. Through this, all citizens can use various digital new technology services only with low-priced and low-specification terminals, and by establishing a dedicated center for information protection, we want to respond to rapidly increasing security threats. It also points out that the domestic cloud-related legal system only emphasizes the use of information while overlooking the importance of security, and suggests the right direction for the legal system to move forward.

The consideration of facilities plan and train operating plan for Incheon airport railroad revitalization (인천공항철도 활성화를 위한 시설 및 열차운영방안 고찰)

  • With the hubbing strategy, construction of "Incheon Airport Railroad(AREX)" was proceeded to expand the accessibility at the level of airports in rivalry like Kansai and Chek Lap Kok. At the present 1st phase which routes from Incheon Airport to Kimpo Airport is opened March 2007. 2nd phase which is planned from Kimpo Airport to Seoul station will be opened at the end of October 2010. But the accessibilty to AREX is delinquent because it is connected only in Seoul station and the maximum operation speed is 110km/h which downgrade the time competitiveness with airport limousine. In addition, transfering of user is necessary to access to AREX from Kyungbu KTX. With these reasons, travel demand in 1st phase section is low(7%). According to reestimation of travel demand, demand analysis result compared with convention condition is insufficient, so required annual average government grant-in-aid amounts to 200 billions won, and it is right time to develop the method for revitalization of Incheon airport railroad. In this paper, facilities plan and operating plan to make new travel demand by speed-up which is able through substitution train now running with high speed train(EMU, 180km/h) and direct connection of KTX, will be suggested. This will contribute to offering high speed railroad service to customers and the reduction of government grant-in-aid by way of demand expansion.
