  • The objectives of the study were to determine 1) energy uses for residential requirements, 2) if energy consumption and adoption of energy conservation attitudes and practices vary with independent variables family size, stage of family life cycle, homemaker's level of education, income, heating system, and number of electrical household items, and 3) if there is a correlation between energy conservation attitudes and practices. Questionnaires were given to the randomly selected homemakers I Seoul in the summer (September, 1979) and the winter (February, 1980). Analysis of variance and correlation were used to analyzed the data which consisted of 537 usable responses of 895 returned in the summer and 554 responses of 794 returned in the winter. The results are as follows: 1) The order of consumption rate of the direct energy uses for residential requirements was found to be heating and air conditioning, cooking, refrigeration, T.V., lighting, and miscellaneous. 2) Energy consumption and adoption of energy conservation attitudes and practices were significantly related to family size, homemaker's level of education, and the stage of family life cycle. (1) Families of five members revealed higher scores in attitudes and practices than families less than five or more than six. (2) The higher the homemaker's level of education, the more energy consumption and the higher scores I attitudes and practices were found. (3) Families in the middle stage of family life cycle tend to use more energy than younger or older families, but their scores in attitudes and practices were high. 3) There was a significant correlation between energy conservation attitudes and practices. However, the scores of the conservation practices were not as good as the attitudes. It may be attributed to either a lack of knowledge and/or financial difficulties, or a dissonance between the concept and implementation of energy conservation. 4) Recommendations for the energy-saving and energy-related public policies are: (1) to use such human resources as attitudes, values, feelings of agreement, and cooperation, as well as nonhuman resources for the energy conservation, (2) to develop a educational program and a creative system I order to implement energy conservation programs, and (3) to consider direct as well as indirect energy uses I selecting goods and services.

  • Mobile agent is a software program that provides autonomy and mobility for the users in the networked computers by deciding its own movement place. Since mobile agent does not keep up the network connection and migrate its executable code under its own control, it can be often used in the unstable network conditions such as the wireless network and the heavy traffic network. In this paper, we show that the electronic commerce system can be developed efficiently to retrieve and trade the goods in the mobile computing environment by using the mobile agent paradigm. Multiple mobile agents migrate into the market directly, then negotiate and trade autonomously relevant goods and services. The execution result and executable code of the mobile agent are returned to the home place and reported to the users. We show that the mobile agent paradigm is suitable to build the mobile electronic commerce system by designing and prototyping the mobile market system.

  • The current study categorizes factors of smartphone into three, using KANO model: attractive factors which cause only product satisfaction, must-be factors for dissatisfaction, and one-dimensional factors for both. Based on it, it presents a new model for the effects that smartphone factors have on satisfaction or dissatisfaction. The purpose is to theoretically explain that smartphone factors on which companies and users place a high value can actually affect satisfaction or dissatisfaction. After choosing 15 factors out of 25 which had been selected through literature study, these were divided into attractive, must-be, and one-dimensional ones. 93 out of 109 questionnaires returned were used for analysis. After frequency analysis using SPSS were conducted on the surveys, the factors were grouped, based on KANO table. The grouping results are as follows. Attractive factors include 'expansion slots for external memory, battery desorption, brand awareness, mobile banking and internet telephony'. Must-be ones include 'multi-touch, information security, entertainment, information retrieval, location based service and SNS. Finally, 'screen visibility, size of internal memory, the amount of internal memory, battery life, and response to after-sales service' are classified as one-dimensional factors. A critical finding of this paper is that since the results are different depending on the operating system of smartphones, it must be taken into consideration in studies on smartphones. The wide and rapid spread of smartphones has changed people's lifestyle as well as business environment, which forces companies to compete with each other to adapt to the changed circumstances. In this competitive system, studies on smartphone factors of satisfaction and dissatisfaction are essential for firms to establish a new strategy. From this point of view, the present paper is expected to be a basic material for enterprises not only to develop goods and services that maximize customer satisfaction and minimize dissatisfaction, but also to establish the future business strategy.

  • Fair trade implies honest wages and eco-friendly products in keeping with the demands of ethical consumerism. Although consumers are presently more interested in fair trade products, it is hard to find aggressive marketing strategies for fair trade fashion products. Therefore, the purpose of this study investigates the effect of consumption propensity on fast and slow fashion goods consumption attitudes and purchase intention on fair trade fashion products. For method of this study, 229 questionnaires were distributed to consumers residing in Seoul, South Korea. The data from the 219 returned usable questionnaires was analyzed by Cronbach's alpha, factor analysis, regression analysis using SPSS 22.0. The results of this study were as follows: First, consumption propensities of spontaneity, histrionics, and imitative nature in descending order positively affect consumption attitude for fast fashion products. And green consumerism negatively affects consumption attitude for fast fashion products. Second, consumption propensity such as donation & sharing consumerism, ethical consumerism, green consumerism, histrionics, and imitative nature in descending order positively affect consumption attitude for slow fashion products. Third, slow and fast fashion products consumption attitude in descending order positively affect purchase intention on fair trade fashion products. Fourth, consumption propensities such as ethical consumerism, green consumerism, and donation & sharing consumerism in descending order positively affect purchase intention on fair trade fashion products. • This study aims to establish the relationship between the Green Marketing Orientation (GMO) variables and the performance of Green Small and Medium Enterprises (GSMEs) across the building and energy sectors in Malaysia, using customer satisfaction as a means of performance measurement. The GMO variables examined include Greening the Process (GTP), Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM), Green Strategic Policy Initiatives (GSPI), Proactive Energy Conservation (PEC) and Green Promotion (GP). The items used to measure these variables were extracted from literature and adapted to the context of the variables based on feedback from Focus Group Discussions and Expert Opinion sessions. This study employs a survey sample of 300 respondents but only 238 completed questionnaires were returned. The results reveal that GTP, GSCM and PEC have a positive impact on Customer Satisfaction but not GSPI and GP. The findings suggest that owners or managers of GSMEs should focus on maintaining and improving GTP, GSCM and PEC in order to create greater satisfaction among their customers. The significance of this study is that it enables the creation of a framework that enables GSMEs to design a pathway towards achieving a cleaner production of goods and services in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
