This study focuses on simulation technology in the injection molding process for plastic optic lenses. The CAE program 3D TIMON was used to predict retardation, flow patterns and warpage deformation. The results were compared to the results of optic lenses as measured using the WPA-100 retardation measurement device with injection molding CAE for retardation predictions. According to the analysis and measured results, the distributions of retardation between the CAE results and the measurement results were similar. It was also confirmed that varying the injection speed had an effect on the injection pressure, warpage deformation and retardation distribution. As the injection speed increases, the injection pressure also increases and warpage deformation decreases. However, as the injection speed increases, the retardation distribution deteriorates.
In this paper, we propose an in-plane switching (IPS) mode for liquid crystal displays (LCDs) that, in principle, is free of retardation of the LC cell. Basically, the optical configuration of the LC cell consists of an A-plate and an LC layer for switching between the dark and bright states. We could achieve a fast response time compared with the conventional in-plane LC cell because the free retardation condition of the proposed LC cell enables us to reduce the cell gap even by quarter-wave retardation without any change of the optimized LC material in the transmissive mode. Experiments for verification of the proposed in-plane switching LC cells have shown a significant reduction of the rising time and falling time simultaneously due to the small cell gap. Furthermore, we also proposed an optical configuration for wide viewing property of the retardation free IPS LCD by applying the optical films. We proved the wide-view property of the retardation free IPS LCD by comparing its optical luminance with the calculated optical property of the conventional IPS LCD.

The load interaction effect can be best illustrated by the phenomenon of overload retardation. Some prediction methods for retardation are reviewed and the problems discussed in the present paper. The so-called under-load effect much of the retardation disappears if a very low level minimum stress follows the overload, is also of importance for a prediction model to work properly under random load spectrum. The concept of Interactive Zone (IZ) fully considering reversed plasticity during unloading was discussed. This IZ concept can be combined with existing models to derive some improved models that can naturally take account of the under-load effect. Some simulations by IZ improved models for test under complex load sequences including multiple overloads and both over/under loads are compared with test results. It is seen that the improvement by IZ concept greatly enhanced the ability of existing models to accommodate complex load interaction effects.

In this study, retardation behavior of fatigue crack under single overloading of the mixed mode state was experimentally investigated. To produce single overload in the mixed mode I+II state, the compact tension shear (CTS) specimen and loading device were used. The propagation tests for fatigue crack were performed under mode I and mixed-mode loading overloading afterwards. We examined the observed deformation aspects, the variation of fatigue life and crack propagation rate, and the aspects of retardation behavior from tests. The retardation effect of mixed-mode single overload on fatigue crack propagation behavior was smaller than that of mode I single overload. Also the loading modes of variable and constant amplitude loads have influence on the retardation behavior of fatigue cracks.
Background and Objectives There was no clinical data except literary study on mutual correlation with autistic disorder in Western medical diagnosis and five kinds of flaccidity in infants(五軟), five kinds of retardation(五遲) in Oriental medical diagnosis. This study was performed to investigate the correlation of five kinds of flaccidity in infants(五軟), five kinds of retardation(五遲) to the children with autistic disorder and to set the time table for clinical diagnosis of developmental retardation by making a comparative study of normal developmental children so we can treat the children with autistic disorder in good time. Method We made the comparative study of interview sheets recorded by parents of total 163 children who were diagnosed as autistic disorder who visited HaeMa Oriental Medical Clinic with interview sheets recorded by parents of generally accepted normal developmental children(263) and then we took statistics. Results : 1. There was significant correlation with speech and walking among five kinds of flaccidity in infants(五軟), five kinds of retardation(五遲) in autistic disorder statistically and clinically in comparison with normal children. 2. There wasn't significant correlation with growth time of tooth among five kinds of flaccidity in infants(五軟), five kinds of retardation(五遲) on diagnosis of autistic disorder in comparison with normal children. 3. There was significant correlation with retardation of times going to toilet by oneself (it does not consist in five kinds of flaccidity in infants(五軟), five kinds of retardation(五遲).) in both of autistic disorder. Conclusion Autistic disorder was significantly correlated with the faculty of speech(語遲), retardation in walking out(行遲) of five kinds of flaccidity in infants(五軟), five kinds of retardation(五遲). We need to concrete the index of diagnosis, because it is so difficult to measure times and register retardation in tooth eruption(齒遲), retardation in hair-growing(髮遲), debility of neck and nape(頭項軟), flaccidity of extremities(手軟) and flaccidity of muscle(肌肉軟). And we can also use times going to toilet by oneself as one of diagnostic criteria because of its significant correlation. It is required to make early diagnosis of five kinds of flaccidity in infants(五軟), five kinds of retardation(五遲) using these criteria, and to treat them early by oriental medicine.

Objectives Taking detailed patient history helps earlier diagnosis and treatment of developmental disability. In this study we analyzed the clinical questionnaire to find out the clinical characteristics of those with five-retardation, five-limpness, or five-stiffness. Methods The data was collected from 484 children under the age of six who have visited H oriental medicine clinic for developmental delay. The clinical questionnaire was filled out by their parents and the data was analyzed statistically. Results 436 children showed symptoms of five-retardation, 90 children suffered from five-stiffness, 54 children showed five-limpness and 7 children suffered from five-stiffness and five-limpness complex. Generally, boys had higher chance to show disease symptoms than the girls (2.32:1) and 40 children (8.26%) reported family history of developmental disability. Cerebral palsy ranks the most common familial disease, followed by developmental delay, mental retardation, autistic disorder and language disorder. Among the children we have studied, 285 children (63.19%) showed delayed unassisted walk while 192 children (42.57%) had language disorder. Also, 138 children (28.51%) had both walk and language disorders. The children in this study also showed delayed toilet training and half of them had little stranger anxiety when they were infants. It was also found that 120 children (24.79%) experienced epilepsy. This study reaffirmed that low birth weight, premature birth, and suffocation are major risks causing neurological damage. Conclusions They had history which including family history, problems at birth, epilepsy, face recognition, muscle tone disorder, delayed walking without assistance, language ability, and toilet training.

We have studied color tracking of a fringe-field driven homogenously aligned nematic liquid crystal (LC) cell with negative dielectric anisotropy and compared it with other devices such as the twisted nematic(TN) and in-plane switching(IPS) modes. According to studies, the TN device shows bluish color at grey scale and even at a low retardation cell it cannot avoid color tracking. The authentic IPS device having cell retardation value of 0.23 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ also shows bluish white color. However, the FFS device shows excellent color tracking characteristics even at high retardation value of the cell while keeping high transmittance and greenish white.
We have studied the static electricity and optical retardation generated by rubbing the surfaces of polyimide (PI) and polyamide (PA) films. The static electricity increases with the rubbing strength (RS) and varies with the different PI films. We also investigated how the differences in the rubbing fabric affects the magnitude of the induced static electricity; the order of this effect is nylon > rayon > cotton. The induced static electricity is not only directly related to the values of the specific resistivity of the rubbed PI films, but also the RS and the ability of the rubbing fabric to generate and add a static electric charge. The order of the optical retardation produced by the rubbing fabraic on rubbed PI films is nylon > rayon > cotton, coinciding with the order of the generated static electricity.
The purpose of this study was to develop creative drama group program for children with mental retardation. To develop this program, the study begins with and in depth examination of the prior creative drama models, techniques and constructivism theory. The style of this creative drama program for children with mental retardation is a 24 session structured program, a small group program. The techniques of this creative drama program are a orientation, warming-up, main performance, feedback and sharing. Major findings were as follows. 4 mentally with mental retardation in creative drama group program showed a significant increased social competence. Also, children with mental retardation children showed the positive social skill change through the creative drama group program. Based on these findings, implications for creative drama group program for children with mental retardation were suggested.
There is growing recognition that individuals with mental retardation are particularly vulnerable to sexual abuse due to multiple factors including life-long dependence on adults for care, trained compliance, social isolation, lack of education about sexuality and sexual abuse, and a societal view that devalues people with disabilities. Teaching about sexual abuse only may raise an individual's anxiety without promoting a healthy sexual identity. For many individuals with mental retardation, the provision of formal sexual health education and sexual abuse prevention training has been shown to be protective against exploitation as well as increase appropriate sexual behavior. To maximize the reach of formal sexual health education and abuse prevention promotion effort, this article suggest exploiting the internet and digital contents as delivery vehicles that have uniquely suitable communication characteristics and outstanding ability to reach large numbers of persons with mental retardation. We review the sexual health education programs, utilizing the internet and digital contents, for individuals with mental retardation. We also suggest the revised version of the Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills (IMB) model of health behaviour change (Fisher & Fisher, 1992), and give a brief discussion of how useful this model is for constructing a life-long sex education program for persons with mental retardation.
