  • Have elderly parents parted with parental role after the children were grown up? If they still have, what kinds and degrees of parental responsibilities endured? Do they actively perform the role? Do they satisfy to engage in parenting? The main purpose of present study explored these questions conceming rural old-aged families using data of 143 elderly parents aged 60 years and above. The results indicate that elderly parents perceived parenting adult children to be very important, regarding themselves as househeads to teach family members how to integrate together. The results also demonstrate that elderly parents performed parental role actively in teaching family rituals and providing emotional support. The elderly parents also report that they were fairly satisfied with involvement in adult children's lives. Our findings suggest that further in-depth research is required in eliciting the role parameters of elderly parents based on our social and cultural changes. In addition, it is encouraged to examine the adult children's expectation of their elderly parents for renegotiating and restructuring parent-child relationships when both are adults.

  • I look at the respective responsibilities of different components of the language faculty in the description of two radically different kinds of linguistic phenomenon. The first is the production/perception mismatch in the child's acquisition of the phonology of its first language. There is strong evidence that the child's lexical representations are the same as the adult's, but I argue that the child's own pronunciations, have no linguistic status and are best treated as the product of a neural network. The second is the nature of compositionality, where I argue that compositionality in Natural Language is derivative from that in the Language of Thought. With this assumption and using evidence from quantification in ‘backward control’ structures, I argue that chain theory is intrinsically inimical to a simple view of the legibility relation between LF and LoT.

  • This research was designed to illuminate that work domains and family domains are not separated but interacting spheres and to suggest efficient coping strategies than alleviate work/family role conflicts. The subjects of this study were 395 employed professional wives living in Seoul. Korea. Survey methods were questionnaires. Data analysis strategies were percentile, frequency, one-way-anova and multiple classification analysis. The results were as follows; 1)Employed wives experienced time-based conflicts and strain-based role conflicts. This finding supports the scarcity approach that multiple roles inevitably create strain. 2) Individual, family and work-related variables were predictors of work/family role conflicts. This findings indicate that work domains and family domains cannot be regraded as separated spheres. 3) Employed wives tried to meet all the given roles demands not by reducing role responsibilities, but by increasing the efficiency of role performance. This finding reflects the characteristics of employed wives who try to perform successfully all the responsibilities. 4)The negative correlation of coping strategies and work/family role conflicts suggests that strategies can function effectively in alleviating the work/family role conflicts.

  • Apportioning responsibilities of concurrent delay to the owner and the contractor is a difficult task, due to the sophisticate nature both in the schedule and in the factors that cause the delay. This research attempts to develop a simplified yet systematic approach that can be used for a fair apportionment of concurrent delay. A concurrent delay is defined herein as when the contractor and the owner have both caused independent critical path delays during the same approximate time period. Incorporating the concepts of windows analysis and critical path method (CPM), the developed approach has three "windowing of delay" steps to quickly apportion the delay in each of these windows, and a fourth step to sum up those apportioned delays to obtain each party's final responsibilities. This developed approach is found to be simple and effective at this stage; it will be tested against real cases in the near future.

  • The 4th Industrial Revolution (FIR) has already begun. Corporations have to fulfill their social responsibilities to the FIR. This study explores the leadership and attitudes required in the FIR era for companies to fulfill their social responsibilities. In the FIR era, workers should have certain attitudes, such as self-efficacy, expectancy, and acceptance of change. If workers have these attitudes, they will be able to make a difference in the future. This study suggests the leadership styles that are needed to improve these attitudes. Participation, creativity, delegation of leadership, and inspirational motivation of leaders involves organizational change and improvement of organizational performance. This paper demonstrates the kind of leadership that is more important for each attitude through statistical analysis. Furthermore, when workers have these attitudes, not only the future, but also their current performance can be improved. To explain this relationship, the paper describes the effect of attitudes on job satisfaction. If workers have certain attitudes, their current and future performance will improve. As a result of the research, all four leadership styles had positive effects on attitudes toward FIR, and attitudes showed a mediating effect on the relationship between leadership styles and job satisfaction. In addition, it has been proven that the role of participative and delegating leadership, which is more member-oriented leadership, is more important. Leadership will enable workers to have a particular attitude through member-centered leadership, and workers will be able to increase current and future performance. Through these efforts, companies will be able to increase their performance in the current and FIR era, and fulfill their social responsibilities more faithfully. Therefore, in the FIR era, companies will play an important role in the development of society, and create new values.

  • The restructuring of Korean railway industry, separation of between train operators and an infrastructure manager, had been conducted in 2004 to increase the productivities of railway operations. However, the maintenance-staffs are still employed by Korail (train operator), not by the infrastructure manager, which led the maintenance of railway infrastructure to be conducted by the train operator. The infrastructure manager is now only taking care of financial transferring issues once the train operator requests expenses spent for facility maintenance. Such incomplete restructure may result in a lack of safety performance on railway operations as the roles and responsibilities are less likely to be assigned under the multiple train operators. Thus, this study proposes the way of structuring maintenance divisions and their roles and responsibilities to assure the safe work execution under the circumstance of multiple train operators on the same rail network.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of consumers' right and responsibilities consciousness, and to analyze the difference of decision - making behaviors according to type of consumers' rights and responsibility consciousness level. The data collection subjects were those who had made the decision to purchase insurance directly within the last three years. A total of 1,225 data were used for the final analysis in this study. As a result, the consumer's sense of responsibility was lower than that of the rights consciousness, and the consumer group with the responsibility consciousness corresponding to the right consciousness was making more rational and subjective decisions. Based on these results, it is confirmed that consumer education that emphasizes responsibility consciousness corresponding to right consciousness is necessary for desirable and subjective decision making of insurance consumers. This study is meaningful in that it provides basic data for contents development to raise the awareness of rights and responsibilities of insurance consumers who can solve consumer problems.

  • This study reported present state of clothing technical designers' work duties and working conditions, so as to suggest effective ways to develop professional training methods for them. Technical designers working for vendors and agents were surveyed as they represent the majority of technical designers in Korean clothing industries. Survey participants were 62 technical designers working for 6 clothing vendors and 2 clothing agents, and the survey closely inspected their work qualifications, duties and responsibilities, working conditions and training conditions. Survey was conducted from June $27^{th}$ to July $17^{th}$, 2012. The questionnaire examined frequency analysis and multiple response analysis using SPSS 19.0 Windows after investigating documents and work fields through personal experiences and interviews from technical designers for data collection and analysis. A chi-square test analyzed the preferred type of fitting for technical designers of vendors and agents. The results showed that 32.3% of those surveyed have more than 7 years of work experience and the highest level of education is predominantly a bachelor's degree (57 people, 91.9%). Among the work responsibilities, respondents did sample measuring more than four times a day. Also, the results showed that technical designers needed to qualify: first 'Fitting Technic', second 'Pattern Correction Capability', and third 'English Skills to Communicate with Buyers'; subsequently, education on several technics (such as measuring, grading, and fitting) were required for the job. Current technical designers answered that they need more various work-related education. However, the analyzed results showed that pre work-related training was insufficient. The data shows that technical designers require re-education in 'Pattern Correction Method' (61.3%) and 'Sewing Education' (64.5%).

  • When the construction management method was introduced, there were arguments regarding the contractual responsibility of the construction manager. Accordingly, the provisions on damage compensation in the Construction Technology Management Act were revised in 2002, and the obligatory duty of care of a good manager is now required by the Framework Act on the Construction Industry. Even though the construction manager has a responsibility of a consultant in the CM-for-fee contract, however, the Korean construction environment does not clearly specify the consultant's scope of responsibility. In this study, the theory about the duty of care, which is a consultant's responsibility among the expert's responsibilities, was arranged. Based on the responsibilities of experts such as lawyers, the duties of care of a good manager of the construction manager were presented to provide the foundation for establishing the construction manager's responsibilities. To verify the resulting items, interviews with experts were performed to assess their importance levels.
