  • This study was attempted to contribute to enhancing the quality of practical education by using Q-methodology to find out how nursing students cope with a mistake during clinical practice. From October 3rd to 26th, 2016, 30 Q-statements were selected through in-depth interviews and prior papers to identify response patterns for mistakes in the 3rd to 4th grade of the Department of Nursing at K University. The analysis using the QUANL program has four types. the first type was named the frankness type, the second type was named the forwardness type, the third type was named the evasion type, the fourth type was named the anxiousness type. In this paper we proposed that the practical guidance instructor and the field instructor need to understand the individual recognition style of each student and to develop coping strategies considering the individuality and to cooperate with education and guidance. In addition, in order to establish a positive cognitive formation and coping method in case of a mistake, it is necessary to educate management about mistakes in systematic nursing student clinical practice.

  • This study aimed to develop appropriate temperature management practices and provide scientific evidence to support the development of sell-by-date guidance for eggs. Washed and unwashed eggs were subjected to storage under six different scenarios, and both types of eggs were stored at temperatures up to 35℃ to evaluate the sell-by-date. Despite temperature fluctuations or continuous storage at 30℃ for 5 days, subsequent storage at 10℃ resulted in significantly higher Haugh unit and yolk index on day 15. These results indicate that refrigerating eggs from retail sales until consumption is effective for egg quality management, despite the exposure of up to 35℃ during distribution. In terms of sell-by-date evaluation, washed eggs retained class B quality for an additional 37 days beyond the recommended sell-by-date at 15℃, which is above the regulated storage temperature. However, unwashed eggs maintained class B quality for approximately 20 days at 30℃-35℃, emphasizing the need for sell-by-date guidelines for unwashed eggs. This study is the first to provide appropriate egg-handling practices based on the actual distribution environment in Korea.

  • In order to investigate the application of 3D base-seismic isolation system in nuclear power plants (NPPs), comprehensive analysis of constitution and design theory for 3-dimensional combined isolation bearing (3D-CIB) was presented and derived. Four different vertical stiffness of 3D-CIB was designed to isolate the nuclear island (NI) building. This paper aimed at investigating the isolation effectiveness of 3D-CIB through modal analysis and dynamic time-history analysis. Numerical results in terms of dynamic response of 3D-CIB, relative displacement response, acceleration and floor response spectra (FRS) of the superstructure were compared to validate the reliability of 3D-CIB in mitigating seismic response. The results showed that 3D-CIB can significantly attenuate the horizontal acceleration response, and a fair amount of the vertical acceleration response reduction of the upper structure was still observed. 3D-CIB plays a significant role in reducing the horizontal and vertical FRS, the vertical FRS basically do not vary with the floor height. The smaller the vertical stiffness of 3D-CIB is, the better the vertical isolation effectiveness is, whereas, it will increase the displacement and the rocking effect of superstructure. Although the advantage of 3D-CIB is that the vertical stiffness can be flexibly adjusted, it should be designed by properly accounting for the balance between the isolation effectiveness and displacement control including rocking effect. The results of this study can provide the technical basis and guidance for the application of 3D-CIB to engineering structure.

  • In this study, a sensitivity formulation was applied to analyze the dynamic response due to the effect of the excitation force for the undamped vibration of the cantilever beam. The theoretically fundamental formulations were derived considering an eigenvalue problem and its modal analysis to govern the second order algebraic differential equation in terms of the change in the modal coordinate with respect to the design parameters. A representative physical quantity pertaining to the dynamic response, that is, the rate of change in the dynamic displacement, was observed by changing the design variables, such as the cross-sectional area of the beam. The numerical results were obtained at various locations, considering the application of the external forces and observation of the dynamic displacement. When the detection position was closer to the free end of the cantilever beam, the sensitivity of the dynamic displacement was higher, as predicted through the oscillating motion of the beam. The presented findings can provide guidance to compute the dynamic sensitivity for a flexibly connected structure under dynamic excitations.

  • This paper presents to study the sensor fusion of positioning sensors using UKF(unscented Kalman filter) for positioning accuracy improvement of AGV(automatic guided vehicle). The major guidance systems for AGV are wired guidance and magnetic guidance system. Because they have high accuracy and fast response time, they are used in most of the FMS(flexible manufacturing system). However, they had weaknesses that are high maintenance cost and difficult of existing path modification. they are being changed to the laser navigation in recent years because of those problems. The laser navigation is global positioning sensor using reflecters on the wall, and it have high accuracy and easy to modify the path. However, its response time is slow and it is influenced easily by disturbance. In this paper, we propose the sensor fusion method of the laser navigation and local sensors using UKF. The proposed method is improvement method of accuracy through error analysis of sensors. For experiments, we used the axle-driven forklift AGV and compared the positioning results of the proposed method with positioning results of the laser navigation. In experimental result, we verified that the proposed method can improve positioning accuracy about 16%.

  • Many researches have been conducting on extracting geometry data and hydrologic parameters by using GIS technique. However, there is no clear standard on those methods yet. This study examines the changing pattern of runoff responses characteristics with applying lumped model on divided watershed. WMS is used in order to divide watershed and calculate hydrologic geometry data and parameters by GIS technique. HEC-1 is adopted as a hydrologic model to establish runoff responses. The basin is divided into small watersheds, which are approximately same size. This research conducted runoff response simulation of Pyoungchang River and Wichon River Basin. Especially, research was focused on what is the most appropriate level as a divined sub-basin, and tested the effect of size of sub-basin for the runoff response simulation. The results showed the size of sub-basin was not an important factor for the simulation results after a certain size. The results of this study can be applied as an appropriate guidance to select optimal simulation size of watershed for the lumped model in a specific watershed.

  • Patients with Type I diabetes mellitus have been treated with porcine insulin for several decades and pigs have recently been deemed an ideal source of microencapsulated islet cells for clinical xenotransplantation. In this study, neonatal pigs were anesthetized and sacrificed prior to a pancreatectomy. Islet cells were isolated from pancreas via collagenase digestion. Islet cells were separated and collected by hand under microscopic guidance. These cells were suspended in 1.4% sodium alginate solution and encapsulated by dropping them into 1.1% calcium chloride solution and in which the round gel in size was 250-400 ${\mu}m$ in diameter. Viability of the microencapsulated islet cells cultured in medium at $37^{\circ}C$ was assessed by MTT assay. Furthermore, insulin released in response to glucose challenge was investigated using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Secretion of insulin was low in response to the basal glucose solution (4.4 mM) in medium and was significantly higher in response to the high glucose solution (16.7 mM). The viability of microencapsulated islet cells did not differ significantly over a period of 7 days; that is, the increasing pattern of insulin concentration in the culture medium after glucose stimulation interval day was similar throughout the 7 days cultivation. In summary, experimental evidences indicated that the effects of alginate-microencapsulation prolonged survival of the neonatal porcine islets in vitro cultures and the insulin response to glucose of the islets was maintained.

  • In the companion paper, a simple but effective analysis procedure termed an Improved Modal Pushover Analysis (IMPA) is proposed to estimate the seismic capacities of multi-span continuous bridge structures on the basis of the modal pushover analysis, which considers all the dynamic modes of a structure. In contrast to previous studies, the IMPA maintains the simplicity of the capacity-demand curve method and gives a better estimation of the maximum dynamic response in a bridge structure. Nevertheless, to verify its applicability, additional parametric studies for multi-span continuous bridges with large differences in the length of adjacent piers are required. This paper, accordingly, concentrates on a parametric study to review the efficiency and limitation in the application of IMPA to bridge structures through a correlation study between various analytical models including the equivalent single-degree-of-freedom method (ESDOF) and modal pushover analysis (MPA) that are usually used in the seismic design of bridge structures. Based on the obtained numerical results, this paper offers practical guidance and/or limitations when using IMPA to predict the seismic response of a bridge effectively.
