The Influence of Core Competence on Organizational Performance of IT Small and Medium Enterprises : The Moderating Role of Entrepreneurship and Government Support (IT중소기업의 핵심역량이 기업성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 기업가 정신과 정부지원의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of core competences on organizational performance in small and medium sized IT enterprises. Especially, the moderating effects of entrepreneurship and government support variables between the core competences and organizational performance were examined. To empirically prove the hypothesis, the statistical analysis were conducted based on the response from the 502 Korean domestic IT SMEs, using AMOS 18.0 and SPSS 20.0. The results of this empirical study can be summarized as follows. First, core competences (marketing, networking, and technology competence) have positive influence on organizational performance. Second, entrepreneurship and government support have moderating effects in the relationship between core competence and organizational performance. Especially, network and marketing competence appeared to be affected by more entrepreneurship than technology competence. So this paper suggests that when the R&D of SMEs and government support are properly combined, it will directly give an effect on organizational performance. The results of this research can be used for building a better government support policies and strategic planning of small and medium sized domestic IT enterprises.

Effectiveness of web based learning program on self efficacy, knowledge, and competence in measurement of blood pressure (웹 기반 학습 프로그램이 혈압측정에 대한 자기효능감, 지식 및 수행능력에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the effectiveness of a web based learning program on self efficacy, knowledge, and competence in measurement of blood pressure in college nursing students. Method: This study was an experimental research study. Data were collected from April 20 to June 1. 2011. The participants were 68 first year nursing students (experimental group 37, control group 31). The collected data were analyzed with the PASW 18.0 program, using ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. Results: The mean score for self efficacy in blood pressure measurement in the experimental group was 61.9 and in the control group 60.7. This result was statistically significant (t=3.301, p=.002). The mean score for knowledge of blood pressure measurement in the experimental group was 11.5 and in the control group 10.8. This result was statistically significant (t=2.910, p=.005). But effectiveness of competence in blood pressure measurement was not significant. Conclusion: The study results show that the web based learning program was effective for self efficacy and knowledge in blood pressure measurement but not for competence indicating.-a need to develop strategies to improve competence in blood presessure measurement for these students.

A Study on the Mediating Effect of Teacher-Child Relationship between Teacher's Empathy Ability and Child's Peer Competence (교사의 공감능력과 유아의 또래 유능성간의 관계에서 교사-유아관계의 매개효과 연구)

  • Objective: This study examined the relationships among teachers' empathy ability, children's peer competence and teacher-child relationships. Methods: 180 teachers and 360 children from 3 to 5 years old were included in the study. The research variables were measured by teachers' self-report through questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, and three-step mediated regression analysis. Results: First, teachers' empathy ability and teacher-child relationship showed significant differences according to teacher variables (age, marital status, parental status). And children's peer competence was significantly different according to gender. Second, intimacy which was a subfactor of teacher-child relationships showed a perfect mediating role in the association between teachers' empathy ability and peer competence. Conclusion/Implications: These results suggest the importance of teacher-child's intimate relationships since it affects the child's peer competence significantly. In this study, it was found that, in order to help foster the teacher's empathic ability and teacher-child relationships which have positive effects on the child's desirable peer formation, continuous teacher education and diverse studies are needed.

Development of Nursing Competence Scale for Graduating Nursing Students (졸업을 앞둔 간호학생의 핵심간호역량 측정도구 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a nursing competence scale for soon to be graduate nursing students and to verify its validity and reliability. Methods: This study is a methodological study for development of a scale. Based on literature review and group discussion of 13 professional experts, 40 preliminary items were developed and the content validity was verified. Psychometric testing was performed and data were collected from 141 soon to be graduate nursing students of a university. Construct validity was verified by factor analysis and reliability was calculated. Results: The analyses resulted in a scale named the Nursing Competence Scale for Graduating Nursing Students (NCS-GNS), consisting of 30 items covering eight categories: nursing professionalism, integrated nursing through critical thinking, communication skills, nursing leadership, respect for life, stress management, nursing research, and core nursing skills. For the entire scale, the explained variance was 66.72% and Cronbach's alpha was 0.906. Conclusion: NCS-GNS was developed and its validity and reliability were verified. This scale can be used to evaluate nursing competence for graduating nursing students.

Discriminant Analysis of Popular and Rejected Children Based on Their Communicative Competence and Conflict-Resolving Strategies (의사소통능력과 갈등해결전략에 따른 인기아와 배척아 판별)

  • The purposes of this study were to test the differences in communicative competence and conflict-resolving strategies between both popular and rejected children, and to thereby verify the discriminance of communicative competence and conflict-resolving strategies for both types of children. 52 popular children and 41 rejected children from among a pool of 202 6th grade elementary students were selected, and the data were analyzed by means of independent sample t-test and discriminant analysis. The research findings are as follows : First, listen up (sub-factors of perceiving), self-presentation, planning, and coding revealed statistically significant differences between the popular and the rejected children. Second, only negotiation and cooperation strategies revealed any statistically significant differences between the popular and the rejected children, while other sub-factors of conflict-resolving strategies indicated broad indifference between them. Third, it was only the factor of planning among 5 factors of communicative competence and 4 factors within conflict-resolving strategies which indicated that it was the most discriminant predictor between the popular and the rejected children. These results suggest that a comprehensive program is needed to improve the communicative competence and conflict-resolving strategies of rejected children.

Effects of Direct Practice of Newborn Health Assessment on Students' Nursing Clinical Competence and Self-Efficacy (신생아 건강사정 직접실습이 간호학생의 간호수행능력과 자기효능감에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the effect of direct practice of newborn health assessment on nursing student's clinical competence and self-efficacy and to propose effective strategies for clinical education on newborn care. Methods: Design was a nonequivalent control group quasi-experimental study. The direct practice program was composed of a lecture, demonstration, drill and feedback using a manikin, and repeated direct practice regarding newborn health assessment. Participants were 65 student nurses taking the pediatric nursing practicum in the nursery room at M hospital. The experimental group (n=33) participated in the direct practice program for newborn health assessment and the control group (n=32) received the traditional practice method. Nursing clinical competence was assessed by two nurse investigators and structured questionnaires were used to measure self-efficacy. Results: The experimental group's clinical competence was significantly higher than that of the control group (t=-4.82, p=.000). However no significant difference was found between the two groups for self-efficacy (t=1.264, p=.211). Conclusion: These findings indicate that the direct practice program is effective in improving nursing student's clinical competence, but it was not effective in increasing self-efficacy. Direct practice in various clinical education settings is recommended and longitudinal effects be evaluated.

  • IS audit has been regarded as contributing to the improvement of the quality of information Systems, recently, it has been argued that it is not possible to expect a effectiveness, because it can offset the schedule burden due to the preparation of additional documents for Audit and it affect to the project schedule. The effectiveness and quality criteria of IS audit are different between groups, because IS audit is responsible for checking the results and process of the developer company. In this study, we modeled between IS effectiveness and auditor competence, audit firm competence, IS audit standards. As a result, it was concluded that auditor competence, audit firm competence, IS audit standards have a positive effect on IS audit effectiveness. However, according to the result of comparing between interest groups, audit firm competence and audit standards were significant in auditor group, but audit standard was significant in requesting organization and developing company thought that auditor was a important factor to audit effectiveness.

Concept Development of Political Competence for Nurses (간호사의 정치적 역량 개념 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to define and clarify the concept of political competence for nurses. Methods: A hybrid model method was used to investigate the dimensions, attributes, and definitions of the concept. In the theoretical stage of the study, literature on nursing, politics, and other discipline were reviewed. In the fieldwork stage, individual in-depth interviews and focus groups interviews were conducted with politically seasoned experts or activists who had an understanding of the concept of political competence for extensive descriptions in nursing and field of health care. Results: The concept of political competence was represented in four dimensions as political knowledge, political efficacy, political interaction, and political activity. In the political knowledge dimension, there were three attributes, namely, political knowledge, political information and systematic analysis ability. The political efficacy dimension had three attributes of internal political efficacy, external political efficacy, and self-pride of nursing profession. The political interaction dimension had three attributes of organizations and community service, networking, and persuasive power. The political activity dimension had six attributes of political leadership, political expression, assertive behavior, political advocacy, political participation, and policy intervention. Conclusion: This concept development might provide a basic understanding of developing a measurement tool and for constructing a theory promoting nurses' political competence.

A Study on the Effect of Social Welfare Practice in Multicultural Society (다문화사회의 사회복지실천의 영향연구)

  • This study focuses on the understanding of social workers' needs for cultural competence and understanding its meaning. And furthermore, this study describes Korean cultural competence and how it is viewed in Korean reality where social workers are. Therefore, this study suggests this research idea based on previous researches data and discussed issues. Particularly considering the unique nature of Korean social welfare site involving multicultural, the role of advocacy is considered essential to Korea. Also, it is necessary and unavoidable part of the perspective of a social justice. Currently, with increasing international marriage, Korean society is rapidly moving toward a multicultural society. This means that we need to promote the ongoing multicultural understanding education to improve and enhance multicultural education system. But, the real effect of the multicultural understanding education in reality of the situation represent just other culture introduction, thus, most of the ongoing multicultural understanding education systems are insufficient to improve the multicultural competence. Korea still has a long way to go before becoming a full-fledged multicultural society. A multicultural society can bring diversity and rich life. Therefore, social workers with deep Korean multicultural competence should be increased in Korean changing multicultural society.

Mediating and Moderating Effects of Multicultural Efficacy in the Relationship between Cultural Empathy and Cultural Competence in Child Care Teachers (보육교사의 문화적 공감과 문화적 역량에 대한 다문화 효능감의 매개효과와 조절효과)

  • Purpose: This study examined the mediating and moderating effects of multicultural efficacy in the relationship between cultural empathy and cultural competence in child care teachers. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive survey design was used. The participants were 277 child care teachers at private and public daycare centers in G and S districts of Seoul. The survey instruments included a cultural empathy questionnaire, a multicultural efficacy scale, and a cultural competence scale. Data were analyzed using the SPSS and AMOS programs. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation, and mediating and moderating effect analyses were performed. Bootstrapping was implemented to verify the mediating effect of the model developed herein. Results: Positive correlations among cultural empathy, multicultural efficacy, and cultural competence were noted. Multicultural efficacy showed a significant mediating effect on the relationships between cultural empathy and cultural competence. However, there was no moderating effect. Conclusion: In order to enhance the cultural competence of child care teachers, it is necessary to develop a strategy that can promote their cultural empathy and multicultural efficacy. Furthermore, these results will ultimately enhance the role of child care teachers, thus contributing to the normal growth and development of multicultural children.
