EBM E-learning: Feasible and Effective for Occupational Physicians in Different Countries

  • Objectives: Although evidence-based medicine (EBM) is a useful method for integrating evidence into the decision-making process of occupational physicians, occupational physicians lack EBM knowledge and skills, and do not have the time to learn the EBM method. In order to enable them to educate themselves at the time and place they prefer, we designed an electronic EBM course. We studied the feasibility and utility of the course as well as its effectiveness in increasing EBM knowledge, skills, and behaviour. Methods: Occupational physicians from various countries were included in a within-subjects study. Measurements were conducted on participants' EBM knowledge, skills, behaviour, and determinants of behaviour at baseline, directly after finishing the course and 2 months later (n = 36). The feasibility and utility of the course were evaluated directly after the course (n = 42). Results: The course is applicable as an introductory course on EBM for occupational physicians in various countries. The course is effective in enhancing EBM knowledge and self-efficacy in practising EBM. No significant effect was found on EBM skills, behaviour, and determinants of behaviour. After the course, more occupational physicians use the international journals to solve a case. Conclusion: An electronic introductory EBM course is suitable for occupational physicians. Although it is an effective method for increasing EBM knowledge, it does not seem effective in improving skills and behaviour. We recommend integrating e-learning courses with blended learning, where it can be used side by side with other educational methods that are effective in changing behaviour.

과학고 토론수업을 위한 수업모형 개발과 적용과정에서 나타난 언어적 상호작용의 특징 (Development of the Instructional Model Emphasizing Discussion and the Characteristics of Verbal Interactions during its Implementation in a Science High School)

  • 이 연구에서는 과학 영재를 위한 토론수업을 위해 새로운 FPHER (problem finding, prediction & discussion, hands-on & experiment, explanation & arrangement, enrichment) 수업 모형을 개발하고, 이를 적용하는 과정에서 나타나는 언어적 상호작용의 특징을 분석하여, 수업 과정에서 나타난 언어적 상호작용의 전반적인 특징 및 수업단계별 특징을 알아보았다. 연구를 위해 과학고등학교 1학년 화학수업 시간을 이용하여 학생들에게 수업 처치를 하였으며, 각 모둠별로 학생들의 토론 내용을 녹음하고, 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 개발된 FPHER 수업 모형은 대부분 과제와 관련된 인지적 영역의 상호작용을 유도하였으나, 의견받기 보다는 의견제시가 우세하였다. F 단계에서 전반적으로 상호작용이 적었고, P 단계에서는 과제해결 관련 제안과 자신감 부족이 많았다. H 단계에서는 과제진행 관련제안이 많고 지시가 많았다. E 단계에서는 질문과 설명, 불만과 자신감 부족이 많았다. R 단계는 상위수준 상호작용을 유도하였으며, 주로 활동지와 상호작용을 하며 상당히 수준 높은 문제 해결력을 보였다. 앞으로 FPHER 수업 모형에 따른 학생-학생 간 상호작용과 교사가 학생의 설명에 반론을 제기하거나 정교화나 정당화를 요구함으로써 사고를 유도하는 형태의 수업에 익숙해 질 수 있도록 교사와 학생 간의 상호작용이 활발할 수 있는 수업전략의 심층적인 연구가 필요하다.

포스트코로나시대 융합인재양성을 위한 정책방향연구 (A Study on the Policy Directions for the Development of Skill Convergence in the Post-COVID19 Era)

  • 본 연구에서는 포스트코로나 시대를 주도할 교육과 인재양성을 위해 미래 사회를 대비할 수 있는 교육 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 빅데이터 분석을 통해 포스트코로나 인재상을 알아본 후 도출된 포스트코로나 인재상을 바탕으로 전문가 집단의 인터뷰와 델파이 조사를 통해 포스트코로나 시대 도래에 따른 이슈를 도출하고 이를 토대로 '포스트코로나시대 융합인재양성을 위한 정책방향'을 모색하고자 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 빅 데이터 분석과 온라인 인터뷰 분석을 통해 융합, ICT 활용 능력, 창의성, 자기주도학습 능력, 리더십을 COVID 19 이후 시대에 인재역량으로 보았다. 둘째, 디지털 교육 시스템의 혁신, 취약계층에 대한 지원, 학급당 학생 수 감소가 새로운 인재육성을 위한 교육 이슈로 보았으며 셋째, COVID 19 이후 시대의 인재 육성에 대한 교육 방향 중 가장 중요한 정책은 융합 인재 양성이었다. 융합은 서로 분리된 것들을 연결함으로써 새로운 가치를 창조하기 때문에 매우 중요한 이슈라고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 포스트코로나 시대를 대비한 인재양성 및 이를 위한 교육, 훈련에 필요한 기반을 마련하고 기초자료를 제시하는데 의의가 있다.

간호사 핵심역량 개발 및 타당도와 중요도 대비 수행도 분석 (The development of nurses' core competencies and the analysis of validity and importance-performance)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop nurses' core competencies and sub-competencies and to verify the validity and importance-performance of core competencies. Methods: The core competencies of nurses were derived through an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, as well as a literature analysis of domestic and foreign accreditation institutions. Validity and importance-performance analyses were conducted on the core competencies derived from nursing colleges nationwide. Results: Six core competencies of nurses were revealed: integration of knowledge and nursing skills, critical thinking, communication, leadership, safety management, and global competency. Further, eighteen sub-competencies were derived. The content validity ratio values for the core competencies were higher than 0.74. Communication skills among multidisciplinary teams and communication skills among nursing teams were shown to be the most important competencies to be improved. Conclusion: The results of this study are meaningful in terms of how the core competencies of nurses were derived and evaluated for the fourth cycle of nursing education accreditation according to the changes of time and culture.

일부 간호학생의 여성성과 간호상과의 상관관계 (A Study for Relationship Between the Femininity and the Nursing Image of Nursing Students)

  • The present research set out to further validate the results that Stromborg (1976) obtained in which a correlation (r= .22, p < .001) was found between the femininity of woman nursing students and their image of nursing. In addition the experimenter set out to elucidate any possible differences in the image of nursing according to (a) religion, (b) the motivation for choosing nursing as well as, (c) the particular area in which the students hoped to work after graduating. The research was conducted by presenting questionnaire type scales including a femininity scale and a nursing image scale, to 301 graduating students attending 4 Three-year nursing schools located within Seoul from November 21st, 1978 to November 30th. The results: 1. There was clearly no relation between femininity and the image of nursing as such (r= .01, p > .43). But upon analyzing the results along five subdimensions of the nursing image variable it was discovered that : (a) if femininity is low, the nursing student tend to view the educational preparation for becoming a nurse in a more positive light (r= -.10, p < .05), and (b) if femininity is high, the students tend to perceive their social role with a positive frame of mind (r= .15, p < .005). 2. There was a significant difference found in the image of nursing as related to the religion of the nursing students, The means ranked as follows (high scores indicate a positive image of the nursing profession). Catholic > Protestant > no religion > Buddhist 3, The difference in the nursing image according to motivation for sellecting the profession emerged as quite significant (F=6.92, p < .001). The rank of the means when the subject group is divided along the dimension of motive is as follows (ranking begins with the most positive nursing image): (a) The profession itself seemed good; (b) after marriage one can do a social type of activity; (c) significant others’advice: (d) the profession matches their high school grade record; (e) it matches the economic situation of the student; (f)no particular reason for their choice: (g) it's easy to get a nursing job after graduation. 4. The particular area of nursing one intended to go into after graduation varied significantly in terms of the image of nursing (F=3.03, p < .005). The means when ranked starting with those having the most positive image of the profession: (a) nurses helping deliveries; (b) hospital nurses: (c) nursing education; (d) school nurses: (e) government nurse supervisors: (f)public health nurses: (g) (students not going into any profession); (h) (students not going into the nursing profession but into some other area).

  • 본 논문은 사회과학자들의 학술정보원 이용행태를 분석하고 이에 따른 효과적인 학술정보원의 이용방법을 제시하였다. 이를 위하여 현재 한 대도시의 대학에 재직중인 사회과학관련 전공의 교수들을 대상으로 응답자의 연구환경에 대한 만족도, 특성 및 연구자료의 이용행태 등을 설문조사하여 응답자의 주 연구분야, 직위, 대학재직기간, 연구기간에 따른 자료수집기간과 방법, 자료수집의 난이도 및 검색방법의 선호도, 자료수집 소요기간, 최신자료의 이용률 등을 분석하였다. 사화과학도들이 학술정보원을 이용할 때, 이를 위한 미래 연구과제 및 제언도 서술하였다.

AR/VR 기술을 활용한 한-중 어학교육 서비스 플랫폼 구축방안 연구 (A study on the establishment of Korean-Chinese language education service platform using AR/VR technology)

  • AR/VR 기술을 활용한 어학교육을 위한 콘텐츠 개발은 5G 상용화에 맞추어 필연적으로 추진해야할 과제이며, 이를 체계적으로 관리하고 서비스를 위한 서비스 플랫폼에 대한 연구는 현재 글로벌 기업들이 경쟁적으로 참여하고 있으나, 아시아 문화권의 독특한 영역에 대한 독창적인 언어교육 서비스 모델은 한국과 중국이 공동협력으로 연구개발을 추진해야할 당위성을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기 개발된 "이러닝 기반의 중국인을 위한 한국어교육 서비스 플랫폼"을 AR/VR 콘텐츠의 수용이 가능하도록 개선하여 적용하고, 동영상 기반의 어학교육 콘텐츠를 AR/VR 기술을 적용하여 상호작용이 가능하도록 콘텐츠를 구성하여 어학교육의 새로운 패러다임을 제시하고자 한다. 콘텐츠의 개발은 AR 기반의 단어학습이 가능한 서비스를 완성하고, VR기반의 단계별 상황에 맞는 체험학습 콘텐츠를 개발하여 초급/중급/고급에 이르는 어학교육 서비스가 가능하도록 단계적으로 콘텐츠를 개발한다. 서비스 플랫폼은 학습관리와 학습 콘텐츠에 대한 관리가 가능하도록 하며, 메타데이터 속성을 보완하여 대용량 AR/VR 콘텐츠의 수용이 가능한 플랫폼을 완성하도록 한다. 향후 혼합현실 기술이 적용된 다양한 콘텐츠 개발을 통하여 교육서비스 포탈로서 발전이 가능하도록 체계적인 연구를 수행하도록 한다.

Factor Structure, Validity and Reliability of The Teacher Satisfaction Scale (TSS) In Distance-Learning During Covid-19 Crisis: Invariance Across Some Teachers' Characteristics

  • This study aimed to examine the Factor Structure of the teacher satisfaction scale (TSS) with distance education during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as affirming the (Factorial Invariance) according to gender variable. It also aimed at identifying the degree of satisfaction according to some demographic variables of the sample. The study population consisted of all teachers in public education and faculty members in higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The (TSS) was applied to a random sample representing the study population consisting of (2399) respondents. The results of the study showed that the scale consists of five main factors, with a reliability value of (0.94). The scale also showed a high degree of construct validity through fit indices of the confirmatory factor analysis. The results have shown a gradual consistency of the measure's invariance that reaches the third level (Scalar-invariance) of the Measurement Invariance across the gender variable. The results also showed that the average response of the study sample on the scale reached (3.74) with a degree of satisfaction, as there are no statistically significant differences between the averages of the study sample responses with respect to the gender variable. While there were statistically significant differences in the averages with respect to the variable of the educational level in favor of the middle school and statistically significant differences in the averages attributed to the years of experience variable in favor of those whose experience is less than (5) years.

  • Piezoelectric materials are essential parts of the electronics and electrical equipment used for consumer and industrial applications, such as ultrasonic piezoelectric transducers, sensors, actuators, transformers, and resonators. In this review, the development of piezoelectric materials and the figures of merit for various electromechanical applications are surveyed, focusing on piezoelectric crystals, i.e., the high-performance relaxor-$PbTiO_3$-based perovskite ferroelectric crystals and nonferroelectric high-temperature piezoelectric crystals. The uniqueness of these crystals is discussed with respect to different usages. Finally, the existing challenges and perspective for the piezoelectric crystals are discussed, with an emphasis on the temperature-dependent properties, from cryogenic temperatures up to the ultrahigh-temperature usage range.

ETRI AI 실행전략 5: AI 전문인력 양성 (ETRI AI Strategy #5: Nurturing AI Professionals)

  • As artificial intelligence (AI) technology becomes more important, the demand for AI talent is increasing. However, there is a shortage of AI talent around the world, and it is difficult to secure. Therefore, it has become more important to nurture the AI workforce. The private sector and government in Korea and other countries are making an effort to cultivate AI talent, and ETRI has proposed "Nurturing AI Professionals" as ETRI AI Strategy #5 to meet both internal and national demands for AI talent. ETRI has suggested three key tasks to implement AI Strategy #5. The first one is to create a "top-notch AI talent training project: the ETRI AI Academy" to strengthen AI research capabilities. The second one is "nurturing AI engineers specialized in local-based industries: the ETRI AI Business School" to help supply the necessary AI workforce in the industry. The third one is the "contribution to AI education service for people: ETRI AI Literacy" to raise the public's understanding and utilization of AI.
