Reinforced concrete (RC) bridge columns are typically designated as the primary source of energy dissipation for a bridge structure during an earthquake. Therefore, seismic repair of RC bridge columns has been studied extensively during the past several decades. On the other hand, few studies have been conducted to evaluate how repaired column members influence the system-level response of an RC bridge structure in subsequent earthquakes. In this study, a numerical model was established to simulate the response of two large-scale RC columns, repaired using different techniques, reported in the literature. The columns were implemented into a prototype bridge model that was subjected to earthquake loading. Incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) and fragility analysis were conducted on numerical bridge models to evaluate the efficacy of the repairs and the post-repair seismic performance of the prototype bridge that included one or more repaired columns in various locations. For the prototype bridge herein modeled, the results showed that a confinement-enhanced oriented repair would not affect the seismic behavior of the prototype bridge. Increasing the strength of the longitudinal reinforcement could effectively reduce the drift of the prototype bridge in subsequent earthquakes. A full repair configuration for the columns was the most effective method for enhancing the seismic performance of the prototype bridge. To obtain a positive effect on seismic performance, a minimum of two repaired columns was required.

This paper proposes a built-in-self-repair (BISR) structure using 2-dimensional spare memory to effectively self-repair faults of an embedded memory. In case of multiple faults in the same row (column) of an embedded memory, the previous method using 1-D spare column (row) memory needs the same number of spare memory columns (rows) as the number of faults to self-repair them. while the new method using 2-D spare memory needs only one spare row (column) to self-repair them. Also, the virtual divided memory is adopted to be able to self-repair using not a full spare column memory but the only partial spare column memory corresponding to the faults. A self-repair circuit with $64\times1-bit$ core memory and $2\times8$ 2-D spare memory is designed. And the circuit includes a built-in-self-test block using the 13N March algorithm. The circuit has been implemented using the $0.25{\mu}m$ MagnaChip CMOS process and has $1.1\times0.7mm^2$ chip area with 10,658 transistors.
Purpose: Despite the great advances in laparoscopic techniques, most active general surgeons do not apply laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of duodenal ulcer perforation when facing a real-life emergency. Therefore, our study was designed to evaluate the feasibility of laparoscopic surgery in duodenal ulcer perforation, and provide a step-by-step protocol with tips and recommendations for less experienced surgeons. Materials and Methods: Between March, 2011 and May, 2012, 21 patients presenting with duodenal ulcer perforation underwent laparoscopic primary repair with omentopexy. There were no contraindications to perform laparoscopic surgery, and the choice of primary repair was decided according to the size of the perforation. The procedure for laparoscopic primary repair with omentopexy consisted of peritoneal lavage, primary suture, and omentopexy using a knot pusher. Results: During the operation, no conversion to open surgery or intra-operative events occurred. The median operation time was 45.0 minutes (20~80 minutes). Median day of commencement of a soft diet was day 6 (4~17 days). After surgery, the median hospital stay was 8.0 days (5~27 days). Postoperative complications occurred in one patient, which included a minor leakage. This complication was resolved by conservative management. Conclusions: Although our study was carried out on a small number of patients at a single institution, we conclude that laparoscopic primary repair can be an effective surgical method in the treatment of duodenal ulcer perforation. We believe that the detailed explanation of our procedure will help beginners to perform laparoscopic primary repair more easily.

Carbonation is a representative deterioration for underground structure, which causes additional repair for service life. This study proposes a simplified equation for optimum repair timing without complicated probability calculation, considering initial and repair conditions For the work, initial service life, extended service life through repair, and their COVs(Coefficient of Variation) are considered, and the periods which can reduce number of repair are evaluated. Assuming the two service lives to be independent, the repair timings are derived from 10 to 50 years based on the probabilistic method, and the regression analysis technique for optimum repairing timing is proposed. Decreasing COV has insignificant effect on reducing repairing number but shows a governing effect on changes in probability near the critical repairing stage. The extension of service life through repairing is evaluated to be a critical parameter for reducing repairing number. The proposed technique can be efficiently used for maintenance strategy with actual COV of initial and additional service life due to repairing.

The rehabilitation methods used in existing concrete box structures rely on the method of attaching the repair material to the section of the structure with a spray equipment. In the case of ceiling or wall parts, the adhesion force to the repair material may be reduced by the gravity and dead load after construction. In subway structures, vibration causes a problem that reduces the initial adhesion. Supplementary measures are needed as the quality of repair varies depending on the worker's proficiency and construction environment. In this study, mechanical pressurization equipment was developed that can apply a certain pressure after construction of a repairwork to solve problems such as reduction of adhesion of repair materials by gravity and variation of repair quality by labor work. To find out the effect of the pressurized equipment, a chamber similar to the field conditions was constructed to measure the attachment strength different from the pressurized condition, the section, and the environmental conditions. The pressurization differed from the other parts, but the adhesion strength of up to 70% was increased.

The present work is for an evaluation of resistance to corrosion in steel coated with cementitious repair material, so that 3 cases of steel plate(Normal, Welding, Welding & coating case) are subjected to ICM(Impressed Current Method) for acceleration of corrosion for 7days. Tested and estimated corrosion ratio through Faraday's Law are compared, and the related flexural strength are evaluated. In Normal and Welding cases, similar level of corrosion ratio(70%) is evaluated, however only 17% level of corrosion ratio is evaluated in the Welding & coating case, which indicates that cementitious repair material is effective to anti-corrosion due to a block of chloride penetration. The flexural test results are consistent with those in accelerated corrosion test, which shows a significant flexural strength in Welding & coating case by 3.4times greater than the others. The cementitious material repair coating is evaluated to be effective to anti-corrosion in welding of steel plate.

Tissue adhesives have gained popularity for quicker and painless closure of lacerations. The use of tissue glue is currently popular for the closure of superficial lacerations, especially in children. Histoacryl $Blue^{(R)}$(2-N-butylcyanoacrylate) is a topical wound closure that precludes the need for foreign bodies to close wounds. The purpose of this study was to compare the applications of Histoacryl $Blue^{(R)}$(HAB) and conventional suture, regarding cosmetic outcome. To compare the short term and long term results of various repair methods, we designed the prospective, randomized, blind study. Patients with laceration undergoing repair were randomly allocated to conventional suture, subcutaneous suture plus HAB, and HAB only groups. The exclusion criterions were large wound that require large tension for repair or avulsion wound. An independent, blinded observer assessed cosmetic result at 7-10 days after repair and 3-9 months postoperatively. Physician's satisfaction with wound appearance was recorded on 100 mm Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)(0=worst, 100=best). The difference in VAS score between conventional suture method and subcutaneous suture plus HAB methods were not significant. Tissue glue being easy to use with no complications and still resulting in equivalent cosmetic outcomes has several benefits. Especially in the case of children, the wound closure with Histoacryl $Blue^{(R)}$ could be a good alternative for repair of laceration in emergency room.

Carbonation of concrete is being occurred due to interaction of atmospheric carbon dioxide with hydroxides. Reinforce concrete (RC) structure is getting collapse or accident due to corrosion of embedded steel rebar. The maintenance of reinforced concrete structure recently has the attention of researchers regarding durability of structure and its importance day by day is increasing. In order to study the carbonation progress of pre-repaired concrete, present study was carried out to measure the carbonation velocity for different repair materials up to 100% of carbonation. The obtained results have predicted the carbonation progress of repair materials in service condition. These results have been verified by FEM and FDM analysis. As a result, the carbonation depth can be predicted by using the carbonation prediction formula after the repair, and the analytical and the experimental values are almost similar when the initial $Ca(OH)_2$ concentration is assumed to be 40%.
Microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) has recently become an intelligent and environmentally friendly method for repairing cracks in concrete. To improve on this ability of microbial materials concrete repair, we applied random mutagenesis and optimization of mineralization conditions to improve the quantity and crystal form of microbially precipitated calcium carbonate. Sporosarcina pasteurii ATCC 11859 was used as the starting strain to obtain the mutant with high urease activity by atmospheric and room temperature plasma (ARTP) mutagenesis. Next, we investigated the optimal biomineralization conditions and precipitation crystal form using Plackett-Burman experimental design and response surface methodology (RSM). Biomineralization with 0.73 mol/l calcium chloride, 45 g/l urea, reaction temperature of 45℃, and reaction time of 22 h, significantly increased the amount of precipitated calcium carbonate, which was deposited in the form of calcite crystals. Finally, the repair of concrete using the optimized biomineralization process was evaluated. A comparison of water absorption and adhesion of concrete specimens before and after repairs showed that concrete cracks and surface defects could be efficiently repaired. This study provides a new method to engineer biocementing material for concrete repair.
