Protection and control systems play a prominent part in avoiding power delivery interruptions and help to get a fast and secure restoration when a failure occurs. In order to meet the higher functional requirements on modern power system, protection speed, selectivity, sensitivity, dependability, and security are essential to ensure reliability. These functions on be satisfied by taking advantage of microprocessor and communication technologies, and digital protection relays (systems) have been developed and applied to real power system enhancing reliability and saving money. It is necessary to have a tool to analyze the functions and algorithms of digital relays for installing them to power system. The purpose of this study is to develop a digital relay simulation program to estimate digital relay performances during system faults. Components of digital protective relay including analog filter, sampling unit, digital filter, and relay logic are modeled in this program.
We developed the protection program for the generator fault protection system and each module of the digital protective relay H/W for loading the protection program. The protective algorithm for the generator is 51, 51G/N, 46P/N, 47P/N, 50G/N, and 32, and we developed each fault protection program. And we must design high efficiency microprocessor, CT, and PT for realtime measuring, relaying and high accuracy of measurement, also. From now on digital protective relay must be operated with integrated management systems. For this point, we must load various industrial protocol on the digital protective relay. In this research, we developed each protective relay H/W module according to above conditions. And we designed real-time operating system in order that each protective algorithm is operated with realtime processing on the H/W system.

In the point of view protective relay, the selectivity and sensitivity is very important in its performance. The correct setting of the relay parameter is required. The verification of accurate setting for the protective relay is very difficult before a actual fault occurs. In this paper, we proposed the diagnosis expert system as a method to verify the correctness of the relay setting. The developed system proved effectiveness through the tests on the real systems.
A decode-and-forward system with an energy-harvesting relay is analyzed for the case when an arbitrary number of independent interference signals affect the communication at both the relay and the destination nodes. The scenario in which the relay harvests energy from both the source and interference signals using a time switching scheme is analyzed. The analysis is performed for the interference-limited Nakagami-m fading environment, assuming a realistic nonlinearity for the electronic devices. The closed-form outage probability expression for the system with a nonlinear energy harvester is derived. An asymptotic expression valid for the case of a simpler linear harvesting model is also provided. The derived analytical results are corroborated by an independent simulation model. The impacts of the saturation threshold power, the energy-harvesting ratio, and the number and power of the interference signals on the system performance are analyzed.

In this paper, the protective relay setting rules of Korean electric power system are studied by analysis of errors to be considered. An accurate operation of protective relays with accurate settings are important in power system reliability. The setting rules are used from the first establishment in 1982 and revision in 1990 Therefore, it needs revise and analysis of the setting rules because of environmental changes such as voltage raise or applied new technology of power system. Two major setting rules are studied. One is the rule for Zones of distance relay for transmission lines. The other is the one of differential current in a differential relay for power transformers. The range of errors in the setting rules accepted in the field experience is studied in simulation of case study. Also some guide lines for the range of errors in the setting rules are presented from the case study using Matlab simulation.
At present. distance relay and ${\Delta}I$ current increment relay are used as primary and secondary protection in the AC feeder system. However. electric railway vehicles according to power electronic's development had developed resistance control, thyristor phase control and PWM control system. and operation of train is increasing in a feeder section. Therefore this paper analyzes the load characteristics and situation of relay's maloperation caused by load current increase, harmonics, regenerative braking current and operation of the different vehicles in same feeder section. Based on this analysis. this paper proposes consideration items for relay correction and advanced adaptive relay that can change operation area according to load current.

We consider a specific interference-limited wireless relay system that comprises several cooperation units (CUs) which are defined as a source and destination node pair with an associated relay node. In the wireless relay system, all source nodes simultaneously transmit their own signals and the relay node in each CU then forwards the received signal to the destination node, causing co-channel interference at both the relay node and the destination node in each CU. The co-channel interference at the relay node is closely related to that at the destination node in each CU. We first derive the end-to-end outage probability in a CU over Rayleigh slow-fading channels with interference for the decode-and-forward (DF) relaying strategy. Then, on the assumption that each CU is allocated with equal power we design an optimal power allocation between the source node and the relay node in each CU to minimize the outage probability of the investigated CU. At last, in the case that each CU is not allocated with equal power and the sum of their power is constrained, we present an optimal power allocation between CUs to minimize the sum of the outage probability of all CUs. The analytical results are verified by simulations.

In this paper, we consider a 2-hop relay system where both the relay and destination nodes suffer from the arbitrary number of co-channel interferers. More specifically, assuming that the relay and access channels as well as interference channels are all subject to Rayleigh fading, we derive an exact closed-form expression for outage probability of the amplify-and-forward (AF) relay system, and furthermore compute its upper and lower bounds. Based on these bounds, we derive the upper and lower bounds on the average bit error rate (BER) of the AF relay system. We also confirm the accuracy of our derivation by investigating the performance gap between the performance bounds under consideration and simulation results.

This paper presents a new adaptive relay selection scheme for a regenerative orthogonal frequency division multiplexing access(OFDMA) relay network with fairness constrains. In the Proposed scheme, we select the best M relays out of a set of K potential relays to maximize system capacity. Among these selected relays, subcarriers are reallocated to satisfy fairness constraints as well as to minimize the degradation of the system performance. Afterwards, power allocation is performed for each subcarrier based on the water-filling method to enhance the performance improvement. By using the trade-off relationship between the system capacity and the fairness, the modified version of proposed scheme is also investigated.

Relay has been applied various communication environments due to its advantages of performance enhancement in communication systems. In this paper, we analyze the performance of a dual-hop communication system which uses one relay by considering asymmetric communication scenarios. The performance is based on bit error rate. Firstly, we compare the overall performance of dual-hop communication system under symmetric and asymmetric, and then analyze the performance depending on the resource allocation. Energy allocation and relay location are considered in the resource allocation. The performance of overall system for each energy allocation and relay location is analyzed. In addition, we analyze the performance of communication system when both energy and relay location are considered simultaneously. Based on the analyzed performance, we discuss the effect of resource allocation for symmetric and asymmetric environments.
