  • Background and Objectives: Music listening has a concomitant effect on structural and functional organization of the brain. It helps in relaxation, mind training and neural strengthening. In relation to it, the present study was aimed to find the effect of Carnatic music listening training (MLT) on speech in noise performance in adults. Subjects and Methods: A total of 28 participants (40-70 years) were recruited in the study. Based on randomized control trial, they were divided into intervention and control group. Intervention group underwent a short-term MLT. Quick Speech-in-Noise in Kannada was used as an outcome measure. Results: Results were analysed using mixed method analysis of variance (ANOVA) and repeated measures ANOVA. There was a significant difference between intervention and control group post MLT. The results of the second continuum revealed no statistically significant difference between post training and follow-up scores in both the groups. Conclusions: In conclusion short-term MLT resulted in betterment of speech in noise performance. MLT can be hence used as a viable tool in formal auditory training for better prognosis.

  • Cases of applying game in the medical area are increasing thesedays. This game has been developed to prevent disease in self-nervous system through the control of respiration after monitoring the mental stress and physical stress from the heart rate variability (HRV) of the game user. The game is a kind of a stress relaxation program (SRP) designed not to avoid boring or rejecting mind of users by traditional simple training of continuous repetition, but to increase interaction which is a unique feature of games.

  • Background : Kigong(氣功) is to develope a nature-therapy by controling and recovering Jinki(眞氣) and it has common features in Yangsaengbeob(養生法), Doinbeob(導引法) and Jeongkisin(精氣神), but it is rarely researched and applied in clinic examine. Objectives : it is compared and contrasted among Kukseondo(國仙道) Yeonjeongwon(硏精院), Seokmunhoheub(石門呼吸). Result : Kukseondo, Yeonjeongwon, Seokmunhoheub have the same point that beginners breath slowly, deeply and naturally. The breathing in each group becomes deeper gradually by mental and physical relaxation although each group has a different breathing method, and it is similar to Jogigyeol(調氣訣) in Dongeuibogam. Ywasik(臥式) is distinguished by the presence of sensation. The breathing in Kukseondo is Yidanhoheub(二段呼吸), the breathing in Yeonjeongwon is Yugi(留氣) and the breathing in Seokmunhoheub is that the ratio of inhaling and blowing are 6 to 4. The breathing in each group is deep and small, Ki also accumulates in the Below-abdomen between blowing and inhaling. This is confirmed by Sinjunapgi(腎主納氣) theory in Oriental-medicine. There is the breath, which is through skin, in Kigonghoheub(氣孔呼吸) of Samhabdanbeop(三合丹法) and Jolidanbeop(造理丹法) in Kukseondo, it is also in Gwiilbeop(歸一法) of Seokmunhoheub. In Kukseondo's case, the breathing is through skin mainly instead of a respiratory organ. In Seokmunhoheub's case, the circulation of Ki is through skin during breathing. In Oriental-medicine, this is called as Pyejupimo(肺主皮毛) which is connected with lung and skin. The breathing coincide with tension and relaxation of body while the breathing through skin and the absorption of Ki spread sensation over the whole body, but the breathing through skin is just a specific ability from a training.

  • We propose a way to show the inherent learning complexity for the multilayer perceptron. We display the solution space and the error surfaces on the input space of a single neuron with two inputs. The evolution of its weights will follow one of the two error surfaces. We observe that when we use the back-propagation(BP) learning algorithm (1), the wight cam not jump to the lower error surface due to the implicit continuity constraint on the changes of weight. The self-relaxation approach is to explicity find out the best combination of all neurons' two error surfaces. The time complexity of training a multilayer perceptron by self-relaxationis exponential to the number of neurons.

  • Objectives : Riding stance has been basic traning of chinese martial arts and Gi-gong. The aim of this study is to observe history, methods, effect of riding stance. Methods : Compare riding stances of each family of martial arts and Gi-gong. Result : 1. Since Wang, the father of Daesung-Gwon had created Chamjang-gong, riding stance becomes a independent foam of Gi-gong 2. The essential method of riding stance is Relaxing the upper body, straightening the spine and putting stress on inner side of the legs. 3. Putting stress on inner legs help relaxing upper body. 4. Riding stance is very similar to horse-back riding. 5. Relaxation must be done for effective riding stance training. Conclusions : Riding stance is necessary for stressful modern people.

  • This study is about the development of ICT-based wearable devices for vision recovery that can cause functional myopia improvement through accommodation training. Vision Training Device(OTUS) is a head mount type wearable device, which naturally stimulates the contraction and relaxation of the ciliary muscles of eye. Users can conduct customized vision training based on personal vision information stored through the device. In the experiment, the effects of improvement of the symptoms by the accommodation training were compared and analysed for the two groups (16 comparative group and 16 accommodation training group) after causing functional myopia. The result showed the functional myopia improved average 0.44D±0.35 (p<0.05) at the accommodation training group compared to the comparative group. This study proved the effectiveness of vision training device(OTUS) on functional myopia, but further clinical trials are judged necessary to prove the possibility of long-term control of the functional myopia.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop psychological skill training program for actor with considering the ecological validity of social, cultural environment in Korean but also examine the effect of psychological skill training through psychological counseling and field study to decrease stage-anxiety. The experimental group were 2 actors, who were selected by purposive sampling. The psychological skill training program to decrease stage-anxiety for actor was composed of five stages, 12times and categorized as orientation, breathing regulation, progressive relaxation training, group counseling, heart rate bio-feedback training, self concentration, routine training, behavior therapy & self reinforcement, image training. The effects was examined on stage performance anxiety scale, psychological counseling and observation of experts. As the result of applying the psychological skill training to decrease stage-anxiety, cognitive state anxiety, somatic state anxiety were decreased. According to the result of counseling and observation, they were changed affirmative on self confrontation, harmony and rapport between actor and object. This result demonstrated the psychological skill training & counseling to decrease stage-anxiety for actor were effective.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate muscle function and symmetry index during whole body vibration exercise using lower extremity training posture for throwing athletes. For throwing athletes in their 20s(6 males, 4 females, age: 24.60±0.92years, height: 177.90±7.40cm, weight: 92.90±22.97kg), lower extremity training postures with squat, carphrase, and lunge movements. Whole body vibration exercise training was performed using. Tensiomyography(TMG) variables Time Delay(Td), Time Contraction(Tc), Time Sustain(Ts) Time Relaxation(Tr), and Displacement Maximumal(Dm) in the lower extremity joint muscles(biceps femoris(BF), gastrocnemius lateral(GL), gastrocnemius medial(GM), rectus femoris(RF), tibialis anterior(TA), lateral vastus(LV), medial latissimus(ML)), were measured to compare and analyze muscle activity, muscle fatigue, and left-right symmetry. The results of the study are left RF, VL, right VM (p<.05) in Td, VM (p<.05) in Tc, GM in Ts (p<.05), left RF in Tr, and right TA (p<. 05) showed a change. Therefore, it has been proven that various whole-body vibration training is an effective exercise with changes in muscle contraction, and stability of the core is secured by symmetry of the left and right muscles. For this reason, the whole body vibration exercise will have a positive effect on rehabilitation training, and it is believed that it will be able to improve performance.
