Durational aspects of Korean nasal geminates

  • The current study focused on the production of geminate nasal consonants across different word boundary types in Korean as a function of speech style to investigate whether temporal properties are preserved across varying speaking rates. Assimilated geminates in Korean, known as true geminates, are produced with distinctively longer consonant duration compared to singletons. Despite a large body of literature for geminates across different languages, geminates in Korean have been relatively less investigated with respect to the durational patterns in relative terms and temporal variabilities. In this study, singletons, word-internal geminates and word-boundary (fake) geminates produced by ten native Seoul Korean speakers were compared in terms of absolute consonant closure duration, preceding vowel duration, the relative ratios (consonant-to-preceding vowel duration) as well as the temporal variabilities in speech production. The results showed that word-internal geminates were produced with longer consonant duration and greater temporal variabilities than singletons and word-boundary geminates in absolute duration, indicating relatively greater flexibility in timing. However, only word-internal geminates were produced with distinctively longer consonant duration with significantly lower variability in relative duration regardless of speech styles. The results provide some insight into the representation of temporal information in the production of Korean geminate consonants.

게임 공간의 분류와 시나리오의 시간 및 공간 동기화 표현법 (The Classification of Game Spaces and the Notations for Spatio-Temporal Synchronization on a Scenario)

  • Most of the previous game development has proceeded in the approaches of the temporal-oriented synchronization because of producing game objects by using general authoring tools, and ad hoc or trial and error methods has been devised for representation of spatial concept. This paper is a study on the unification notation for spatio-temporal synchronization to conquest this fault. First of all, we classify game space as temporal object, spatial object, absolute/relative spatio-temporal space. The spatio-temporal relationships are divided into temporal extent, temporal location, spatial extent, and spatial location. In the paper the temporal and spatial relationships of game scene are defined to represent the synchronization, and we propose new unification notation by temporal and spatial concept to represent two concepts putting emphasis on space. Their relationships are presented on 3D by creating time axis related with time in scene unit of the two dimensional plane in the pivot on space. The usability of this representation method are shown by applying examples of game scenario.

Local-Based Iterative Histogram Matching for Relative Radiometric Normalization

  • Radiometric normalization with multi-temporal satellite images is essential for time series analysis and change detection. Generally, relative radiometric normalization, which is an image-based method, is performed, and histogram matching is a representative method for normalizing the non-linear properties. However, since it utilizes global statistical information only, local information is not considered at all. Thus, this paper proposes a histogram matching method considering local information. The proposed method divides histograms based on density, mean, and standard deviation of image intensities, and performs histogram matching locally on the sub-histogram. The matched histogram is then further partitioned and this process is performed again, iteratively, controlled with the wasserstein distance. Finally, the proposed method is compared to global histogram matching. The experimental results show that the proposed method is visually and quantitatively superior to the conventional method, which indicates the applicability of the proposed method to the radiometric normalization of multi-temporal images with non-linear properties.

  • 문서에는 상대적인 시간표현이 포함되어있으며, 이를 다루기 위한 시간표현 체계를 구축하고 상대시간정보를 추출하는 모델을 개발하는 것은 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 timex3 태그에서 상대적인 시간표현의 정규값을 담을 수 있도록 하기 위해 연, 월, 일, 주, 시, 분, 초 단위에 대하여 총 7가지의 새로운 속성을 새롭게 제시하였으며, 이전, 이후, 번째 등에 대한 정규값의 기술방법도 함께 제시하였다. 또한, 새롭게 추가된 속성들의 정규값을 추출하는 규칙 모음을 설계하였다. 추가된 속성들을 바탕으로 구축한 데이터셋은 일상대화, 뉴스, 역사와 관련된 총 1,041개의 문서를 포함하고 있으며, 본 연구에서 설계한 규칙 모음을 전체 데이터셋에 대하여 적용하여 전반적으로 70% 이상의 정확도를 보이는 것을 확인하였다. 특히, 데이터셋에 자주 등장한 상대시간표현인 year, day, week 속성에 대한 성능이 비교적 높은 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과물인 추가적인 timex3 속성과 규칙기반 모델은 질의응답시스템, 챗봇 등의 서비스 개발에 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Digital Video Steganalysis Based on a Spatial Temporal Detector

  • This paper presents a novel digital video steganalysis scheme against the spatial domain video steganography technology based on a spatial temporal detector (ST_D) that considers both spatial and temporal redundancies of the video sequences simultaneously. Three descriptors are constructed on XY, XT and YT planes respectively to depict the spatial and temporal relationship between the current pixel and its adjacent pixels. Considering the impact of local motion intensity and texture complexity on the histogram distribution of three descriptors, each frame is segmented into non-overlapped blocks that are $8{\times}8$ in size for motion and texture analysis. Subsequently, texture and motion factors are introduced to provide reasonable weights for histograms of the three descriptors of each block. After further weighted modulation, the statistics of the histograms of the three descriptors are concatenated into a single value to build the global description of ST_D. The experimental results demonstrate the great advantage of our features relative to those of the rich model (RM), the subtractive pixel adjacency model (SPAM) and subtractive prediction error adjacency matrix (SPEAM), especially for compressed videos, which constitute most Internet videos.

Reduction of Temporal Image Sticking in AC Plasma Display Panels through the Use of High He Contents

  • The temporal dark- and bright-image sticking phenomena were examined relative to the He contents under 11% Xe content in the 50-in HD and FHD AC-PDPs with a ternary gas mixture (Xe-He-Ne). To compare the temporal dark- and bright-image sticking phenomena under various He contents, the differences in the disappearing time, display luminance, perceived luminance, infrared emission, color coordinate, color temperature, and discharge current before and after discharge were measured under 0, 35, 50, and 70% He contents. It was found that temporal dark- and bright-image sticking were reduced in proportion to the increase in He %. Thus, a high He content contributes to the reduction of temporal dark- and bright-image sticking.

원형어레이를 이용한 시.공간 스펙트럼 동시추정 (Simultaneous estimation of the temporal and spatial spectrum using circular array)

  • In this paper, we present the circular array structure for estimating the temporal and spatial specturm of multiple narrowband incoherent signals which have different frequencies. The conventional linear array is computationally demanding for simultaneously estimating the spatial and temporal spectrum since it requires the tapped delay line filer. The statistical performance of the circular array is never deteriorated eve though it requires much less computational load than the uniform linear array. Especially, it is shown that the circular array resolves the direction-of-arrivals of the multiple signals without the spatial and temporal aliasing the fundamental nonuniform-sampling property prossessed by it. Computer simulation results are shown to demonstrate the better performance achieved with the circular array geometry relative to that obtained with a uniform linear array with taps.

  • 본 논문은 인과성 모델에 기반 한 멀티미디어 동적 저작시스템을 구현하였다. 사용자가 원하는 시나리오를 직관적이고 자연스럽게 프로그램 하도록 2가지 명세를 정의하였다. 인과성을 바탕으로 한 시간 명세는 프리젠테이션에 참여하는 미디어 객체간의 시간관계를 정의한 것이며, 두 번째 명세는 스크린상에 실행되는 미디어들의 상대적인 위치 관계를 토대로 정의한 공간 명세이다. 이 두 가지 사양을 토대로 프리젠테이션 시스템을 구성하였다. 본 시스템의 구성은 멀티미디어 전자문서 생성 과정을 반영한 것이며 그 단계로는 1차원 스트링 리스트 생성 단계, 시간 및 공간 트리 생성 단계, 복합 트리 생성 단계로 구성 처리하였다.

변화지역 탐지를 위한 시계열 KOMPSAT-2 다중분광 영상의 MAD 기반 상대복사 보정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Object Based Image Analysis Methods for Land Use and Land Cover Classification in Agricultural Areas)

  • 원격탐사 방법을 활용한 변화지역 탐지, 재난재해 지도 작성, 작황 모니터링 등 다중시기의 위성영상을 활용한 결과를 도출하기 위해서는 시계열 영상 정보를 서로 비교할 수 있는 공통의 스케일로 정규화 하는 것이 필요하다. 다중시기 영상에 대한 정규화 방법은 절대복사보정과 상대복사 보정으로 나눌 수 있으며, 본 연구에서는 상대복사 보정을 통한 시계열 위성영상처리 기법을 다루고자 한다. 2011년 3월 해일 피해가 발생했던 일본 센다이 지역을 연구대상지로 선정하였고, KOMPSAT-2 다중분광영상을 이용한 사고 전, 후의 피해지역 탐지에 있어 상대복사 보정의 실효성을 분석하였다. 다양한 상대복사 보정 기법 중에서 정준상관분석을 통해 PIFs(Pseudo Invariant Features) 지역을 자동으로 추출하는 MAD(Multivariate Alteration Detection) 기법을 적용하였다. 본 사례연구 분석결과 MAD 방식에 의한 자동 PIFs 지역의 추출은 비교적 높은 정확도 수준에서 이루어짐을 확인할 수 있었으며, 상대복사 보정된 시계열 위성영상을 사용함으로써 변화지역 자동탐지의 신뢰수준을 높일 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Individual Differences in Regional Gray Matter Volumes According to the Cognitive Style of Young Adults

  • Extant research has proposed that the Object-Spatial-Verbal cognitive style can elucidate individual differences in the preference for modality-specific information. However, no studies have yet ascertained whether this type of information processing evinces structural correlations in the brain. Therefore, the current study used voxel-based morphometry (VBM) analyses to investigate individual differences in gray matter volumes based on the Object-Spatial-Verbal cognitive style. For this purpose, ninety healthy young adults were recruited to participate in the study. They were administered the Korean version of the Object-Spatial-Verbal cognitive style questionnaire, and their anatomical brain images were scanned. The VBM results demonstrated that the participants' verbal scores were positively correlated with regional gray matter volumes (rGMVs) in the right superior temporal sulcus/superior temporal gyrus, the bilateral parahippocampal gyrus/fusiform gyrus, and the left inferior temporal gyrus. In addition, the rGMVs in these regions were negatively correlated with the relative spatial preference scores obtained by individual participants. The findings of the investigation provide anatomical evidence that the verbal cognitive style could be decidedly relevant to higher-level language processing, but not to basic language processing.
