An attempt has been made in this study to evaluate an applicability of Relative Effective Porosity Model (REPM) as a method for estimating saturated hydraulic conductivity (K$_{s}$) for homogeneous coarse, medium, and fine sands. The saturated hydraulic conductivities obtained from REPM are converted into average linear velocities using Darcy's Law and compared with the results from experimental tracer tests for homogeneous coarse, medium, and fine sand layer. Two types of tracer tests analyses, analytical solution using CXTFIT and moment methods, are performed to obtain reasonable linear velocity range for each layer. For the coarse and medium sands, the converted average linear velocity from REPM is in the velocity range obtained from tracer tests. However, small difference between the results from REPM and tracer tests is found for the fine sands. These results show that REPM gives reasonable estimates of saturated hydraulic conductivity.y.

In this paper, we investigate a collision avoidance algorithm for unmanned aerial vehicles using potential field based on the relative velocity of obstacles. The potential field consists of the attraction force and the repulsive force that are generated for the target and the obstacles. And the field can be classified into the attractive potential field generated by the target and the repulsive potential field generated by the obstacle, respectively. In this study, we construct an attractive potential field as a function of the distance between the UAV and the target position. On the other hand, a repulsive potential field is created by a function of distance and the relative velocity of the obstacle with respect to the UAV. The proposed potential field based collision avoidance algorithm is evaluate through simulations.

An inverse dynamic procedure for spatial multibody systems containing flexible bodies is developed in the relative joint coordinate space. Constraint acceleration equations are derived in terms of relative coordinates using the velocity transformation technique. An inverse velocity transformation operator, which transforms the Cartesian velocities to the relative velocities, is derived systematically corresponding to the types of kinematic joints connecting the bodies and the system reference matrix. Using the resulting matrix, the joint reaction forces and moments are analyzed in the Cartesian coordinate space. The formulation is illustrated by means of two numerical examples.

This study was conducted to select the sensors for measuring temperature, relative humidity, and air velocity among the major environmental factors affecting the pig productivity as a part of the study for the optimum production system model development of pig-housing. The study results are summarized as the follows : Two sensors , HMP233L and HANI, were tested for measuring temperature and relative humidity , Test results were analyzed by the statistical methods. And the sensor, HMP233L was selected as a proper sensor for temperature sand relative humidity measurement . An air velocity sensor was tested. Test results showed that its accuracy was low and incongruent for the air velocity measurement when it was lower than 4m/s.
A barrel cam is used as a very important part of an index drive unit. The index drive unit must have an intermittent-rotational motion. The barrel typed cam and roller gear mechanism has the advantages of high reliability to perform a prescribed motion of a follower. This paper proposes a new method for the shape design of the barrel cam and also a CAD program is developed by using the proposed method. As defined in this paper, the relative velocity method for the shape design calculates the relative velocity of the follower versus cam at a center of roller, and then detemines a contact point by using the geometric relationships and the kinematic constraints, where the direction of the relative velocity must be parallel to a common tangential line at the contact point of two independent bodies, i.e. the cam and the follower. Then, the shape of the cam is defined by the coordinate transformation of the trace of the contact points. This paper presents shape design of the barrel cam in order to prove the accuracy of the proposed methods
On a rotating contact surface of arbitrary shape, the relative velocity of the contact point sliding between the surfaces is computed with the basic geometries of the rotating surfaces, and the acceleration of the contact point between the contact surfaces is computed by using the relative velocity of the contact point. Thus the equation for the acceleration constraint between the contact surfaces in muitibody dynamics is not coupled with the parameters such as the relative velocity of the contact point. In case of the kinematic analysis, the acceleration of the contact point on any specific instant may also be efficiently computed by the present technique because the whole displacement of a full cycle need not be interpolated. Employing a cam-follower mechanism as a verification model, the acceleration of the contact point computed by the present technique is compared with that computed by differentiating the displacement interpolated with a large number of nodal points.
This paper addressed a relative navigation method for autonomous rendezvous and docking of cube-satellites using single frequency Differential GPS (DGPS) under the intermittent communication between satellites. Since the ionospheric error of GPS measurement is variable depending on the visible satellites, a few meters error of relative navigation is occurred in the Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) environment. Therefore, it is essential to remove the ionospheric error to perform relative navigation. Besides, an intermittent communication period for receiving GPS measurements of the target satellite is limited for getting information every sampling time. To solve this problem, a method combining range domain DGPS and orbit propagation is proposed in this paper. The proposed method improves the performance of DGPS by using Hatch filter and solves an intermittent communication problem by estimating the relative position and velocity using Hill-Clohessy-Wiltshire Equation. Through the simulation, it is verified that the suggested algorithm provides the relative position error within RMS 0.5 m and the relative velocity error within RMS 3 cm/s. Furthermore, it has the advantage that it is suitable for real-time implementation using single-frequency GPS measurements and is computationally efficient.

The purpose of this study was to reveal the effect of COP variable of support feet on relative reach distance and composite score of active feet during YBT. 29 adults in their 20s(age: 24.4±3.0 yrs, height: 171.0±10.5 cm, weight: 72.1±12.1 kg, leg length: 88.2±5.8 cm) participated in the study. Using YBT, relative reach distance and composite score of active feet were calculated, and COP variables of support feet were measured on left and right support feet. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the effect of COP variables of support feet during YBT on relative reach distance and composite score. As a result of the study, during YBT, when supporting right feet, the influence of AP COP velocity, ML COP velocity and COP velocity in posterolateral direction was significant, and when supporting left feet, the influence of AP COP velocity, ML COP velocity in posteromedial direction improved relative reach distance and composite score.
Thermal comfort aspect of a locally-cooled target space in warm and humid environments(typically in the rainy summer season) was studied in view of PPD index. First. theoretical analyses were conducted to examine the effect of the governing parameters(such as air temperature, relative humidity and air velocity, etc.) using a computer model. Secondly, experimental investigations were also performed in a climatic room designed to simulate corresponding thermal conditions of outdoor environments. During the tests, temporal variation of PPD was recorded as functions of climatic variables(outdoor and indoor temperatures, relative humidity and air velocity) for the given human factors(metabolic heat generation and clothing). From both theoretical and experimental investigations, air temperature and air velocity were found to be the most dominant parameters affecting PPD of the target space. Results were summarized as: 1. Relative humidity of the locally-cooled target space tends to approach that of outdoor's as the space is subjected to an ON-OFF mode of cooling, since moisture potential of the two rooms reaches an equalized state as a result of moisture diffusion. 2. It was recognized that changes in relative humidity did not show any significance in view of thermal comfort as was reported in the previous studies, while variations of both temperature and air velocity caused relatively large changes in the degree of thermal comfort. 3. In-door environment should be evaluated in terms of PPD instead of relative humidity commonly recognized as an important climatic variable particularly in warm and humid environments.
This paper presents a quantitative evaluation method and result of moving vehicle perception using automotive radar. It is also important to analyze the accuracy of the perception algorithm quantitatively as well as to accurately percept nearby moving vehicles for safe and efficient autonomous driving. In this study, accuracy of the automotive radar-based perception algorithm which is developed based on interacting multiple model (IMM) has been verified via vehicle tests on real roads. In order to obtain experimental data for quantitative evaluation, Long Range Radar (LRR) has been mounted on the front of the ego vehicle and Short Range Radar (SRR) has been mounted on the rear side of both sides. RT-range has been installed on the ego vehicle and the target vehicle to simultaneously collect reference data on the states of the two vehicles. The experimental data is acquired in various relative positions and velocity, and the accuracy of the algorithm has been analyzed according to relative position and velocity. Quantitative analysis is conducted on relative position, relative heading angle, absolute velocity, and yaw rate of each vehicle.
