Narrative Inquiry on the Actual Experience of a Supervisory Relationship in Korea (수퍼비젼 관계형성 실행경험에 대한 내러티브 탐구)

  • This research presents the relationship building between the supervisor and supervisee through the supervision process in a narrative inquiry. The supervisory relationships of the supervisor A and supervisee B, and the effects they have on the relationship between the two are described in as factual terms as possible. The results imply that genuineness and openness are the core components of relationship. Especially, in the case of a highly hierarchical relationship, where it is often easy for the supervisor to employ hidden tactics, efforts on the part of the supervisor's endeavor to develop unconditional acceptance can be helpful in establishing a more open-minded attitude. As a result, the common view in the literature that attributes relationship hierarchy to cultural factors may need to be reexamined. This research provides evidence that in the case of supervision and training in counseling, establishing an environment of acceptance, trust and rapport can help advance the supervisory relationship to a less hierarchical form.

  • The purpose of the study is to find out the influences of various efforts on service recovery after the failure of the service for the customer satisfaction and a loyalty. The present study finds out the factors directly affecting service recovery and demonstrates the relationship of those factors with customer satisfaction and loyalty.   • Theoretical efforts were taken to investigate an optimum heat treatment process in martensitic stainlesssteel. The approach is based on the combination of the interpolation and extrapolation method of a standard heat treatment technology with the principle of quenching and tempering temperature difference. The relationship of macroscopic structure and fracture toughness and ductility as well as the Hardness and strength has been focused to induce a simple rule to apply with feasibility. As a result it was found that the grain size influences to the fracture toughness and ductility significantly.

  • The Internet has generated a number of online review sites where dissatisfied consumers can easily articulate their opinions and comments on products or services. Little attention, however, has been directed to investigating the relationship between negative electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) and its critical determinants that affect consumers' purchasing behaviors. This study attempts to explore the influence of the key determinants of consumers' negative eWOM behaviors, including their social relationships online. The results show that tie strength is positively associated with the proposed determinants, such as information credibility, external search efforts, and product involvement. Further, we find that perceived risk plays a mediating role in the relationship between consumers' intention to spread eWOM and its key determinants.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the educational experiences of competent engineering students and finding the reason why they invest their time and efforts engaging in school activities. Five students with high GPA, high K-CESA scores and successful employment or entrance test scores, participated in the survey and the interview. In checking their responses, their activities' records were gathered from school DB. According to the modified framework based on the personal investment theory, the interviews, survey and DB records were analyzed on the sense of self, the social cultural environment, and pattern of behaviors in schools. The competent engineering students are able to manage themselves, in maintaining a good relationship with the collegiate, and in having high self-efficiency. They also tend to put effort into their studies and participate in inbound and outbound school activities. At the last part, freshmen foundation, relationship within college, students' activity related future career, economic stability during studies are suggested for supporting students in universities.

  • This paper is purposed to investigate the relationship among web characteristics, service quality and customer satisfaction. After analyzing the data collected from 137 customers, it was proved that web service did not affect on the customer satisfaction directly, but affected indirectly through service quality. Therefore we conclude that customer satisfaction efforts through web site are important as a competitive weapon in an airline industry.

Firm Size and Innovation : A Probit Analysis (제조업 기업의 기술혁신 형태와 결정요인 : 기업규모와 기술혁신)

  • This study empirically investigates innovative behaviors of the firm. In so doing, a Probit was employed and estimated. We used the raw data of the "corporate innovation survey"(CIS), which, in consent with OECD efforts, is regularly undertaken by the Science and Technology Policy Institute(SIEPI). The data set includes more than 3400 firms in the manufacturing sector. Three types of innovation, i.e., new product, product improvement and process innovation, are studied, assuming that determinants of innovation are firm′s age. number of employees as the size of firm, ratio of foreign ownership and innovation costs. To investigate the relationship between firm′s innovation behavior and the size, we estimate the Probit including the quadratic term of the firm size. Empirical findings showed that the sign of the quadratic term of the firm size turned out to be negative. It means that the probability of firm's making innovation shows the inversed-U relationship with the firm size. Such an empirical result may have a significant implication for the industrial policy.

  • Recent studies indicate potential links between various psychosocial factors and work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). In this research, the effects of job stressors on the WMSDs symptoms were investigated using questionnaire in the largest automotive company in Korea. It was found that perception of workload, over time and shift work, and working using powered hand tools were significant factors for the symptoms of WMSDs, along with smoking habit, periodic exercise, and interpersonal relationship. Practical applications of this research include practitioners taking into account psychosocial work factors and job stress in their efforts to reduce and control WMSDs.

Relationship between Eating Disorders, Physical Symptoms, Depression and Health Locus of Control among Elementary School Girls in South Korea (초등학교 여학생의 섭식장애, 신체증상, 우울 및 건강통제위에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between eating disorders, physical symptoms, depression and health locus of control. Method: The research design was a descriptive study done by using a constructive self-report questionnaire. A total of 464 elementary school girls were measured. The instrument was a constructive questionnaire that consisted 136 items. The subjects were divided into 4 groups according to the Body Mass Index (BMI). Data analysis was done by SPSS/WIN Programs using frequency, percentage, mean, SD, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The score of eating disorders differed significantly by BMI : the score was highest in the group of obese students(F=4.208, P=.015). Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of eating disorders was BMI. Conclusion: These results indicate that Korean elementary school girls need more education and counseling on diet. Also, we should take systematic efforts to reestablish the social standard of beauty to promote normal growth development.

The Relationship between Future Orientation, Regulatory Focus, and Need for Cognition and Healthy Menu Choices

  • The effect of nutritional information on healthier menu choices have been reflected in previous research and nutrition policy efforts. This study further examines the relationship between healthy menu choices and three consumer characteristics - Future Orientation, Regulatory Focus, and Need for Cognition. A $3{\times}3$ experimental design was used with varying food types (burger sandwiches, sub sandwiches, and salad dressing) and the degree of nutritional information (no information, total calories only, and full nutrition information). It was found that having more nutritional information, and individuals with Future Orientation and Promotion Focus were associated with the choice of healthier menus. More specifically, those with high Consideration of Future Consequences and with Promotion Orientation switched their choices to the healthier ones with the provision of nutritional information.
