A numerical comparison or predictions by limit equilibrium analysis and 3n analysis is presented for slope/pile system. Special attention is given to the coupled analysis based on the explicit-finite-difference code, FLAC. To this end, an internal routine (FISH) was developed to calculate a factor of safety for a pile-reinforced slope according to shear strength reduction technique. The case of coupled analyses was performed for stabilizing piles in slope in which the pile response and slope stability are considered simultaneously and subsequently the factors of safety are compared to uncoupled analysis (limit equilibrium analysis) solution for a homogeneous slope. Based on a limited parametric study, it is shown that in the free-head condition the factor of safety in slope is more conservative for a coupled analysis than for an uncoupled analysis and a definitely larger value represents when piles are installed in the middle of the slopes and are restrained in the pile head.
Due to many advantage of advanced composite materials, researches on the composite marine pile is initiated. In this paper, structural characteristics of concrete filled glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) composite pile model are studied. Through 4-point flexural test with various level of axial force, the performance of composite pile model was analyzed. Also numerical method to find P-M interaction diagram of composite pile was developed. It is showed that result of numerical method agrees well with experimental results, thus it is anticipated that numerical procedure can be utilized for design purpose.
Landing pier is connect from onshore to offshore with bridge type that a coast structure. The sub-structure is consisted of vertical or batter pile and combined reinforced concrete slab. These days useful design method of quay wall of landing pier type for pile foundation analysis abide by approximate depth of pile supported method, "Harbor and port design criterion, 2005 The ministry of land transport and maritime affairs". The approximate depth of pile supported is calculated two kind of method that one is assume to below depth of 1/$\beta$ from assumed submarine surface and other is 1st fixpoint depth by Chang(1937)'s theory. By this paper, FEM dynamic analysis of 3-dimensions was achieved that it has compared pile fixed end modeling with elastic spring modeling base on winkler theory.
Among soft ground treatment methods with granular soil used in domestic, the sand compaction pile method has been utilized greatly, but, as a result of exhaustion of sand and increase of unit cost, a necessity of an alternative method is suggested. In this study, the static load tests for group crushed-stone compaction piles which were constructed at in-situ site were performed. Pile diameter was 700mm and area of loading plates were changed. The static load tests of single and group piles were performed for area replacement ratio of 20, 30 and 40%. Based on test results, bearing capacity of group crushed-stone compaction pile were estimated. The more both single pile and group pile increase, the more yield bearing capacity tended to increase. Also, the yield bearing capacity of a group pile is about 50% less than the yield bearing capacity of a single pile. If the ground reinforced with the crushed-stone compaction pile is replacement ratio of $20{\sim}40%$, RIYB of both single pile and group pile increases qualitative tendency of linear more than original ground

Feasibility studies of a reinforced concrete (RC) deep pile foundation system with the compressed air energy storage (CAES) technology were conducted in previous studies. However, those studies showed some technical limitations in its serviceability and durability performances. To overcome such drawbacks of the conventional RC energy pile system, various steel-concrete composite pile foundations are addressed in this study to be utilized as a dual functional system for an energy storage medium and load-resistant foundation. This study conducts finite element analyses to examine the applicability of various composite energy pile foundation systems considering the combined effects of structural loading, soil boundary forces, and internal air pressures induced by the thermos-dynamic cycle of compressed air. On this basis, it was clearly confirmed that the role of inner and outer tubes is essential in terms of reliable storage tank and better constructability of pile, respectively, and the steel tubes in the composite pile foundation can also ensure improved serviceability and durability performances compared to the conventional RC pile system.

Stepped earth slopes incorporated with anti-slide piles are widely utilized in landslide disaster preventions. Explicit consideration of the three-dimensional (3D) effect in the slope design warrants producing more realistic solutions. A 3D limit analysis of the stability of pile stabilized stepped slopes is performed in light of the kinematic limit analysis theorem. The influences of seismic excitation and surcharge load are both considered from a kinematic perspective. The upper bound solution to the factor of safety is optimized and compared with published solutions, demonstrating the capability and applicability of the proposed method. Comparative studies are performed with respect to the roles of 3D effect, pile location, pile spacing, seismic and surcharge loads in the safety assessments of stepped slopes. The results demonstrate that the stability of pile reinforced stepped slopes differ with that of single stage slopes dramatically. The optimum pile location lies in the upper portion of the slope around Lx/L = 0.9, but may also lies in the shoulder of the bench. The pile reinforcement reaches 10% universally for a looser pile spacing Dc/dp = 5.0, and approaches 70% when the pile spacing reaches Dc/dp = 2.0.
Sand compaction pile (SCP) method is composed of compacted sand pile inserted into the soft clay deposit by displacement method. SCP-reinforced ground is composite soil which consists of the SCP and the surrounding soft soil. When a surcharge load is applied on composite ground, time-dependent behavior occurs in the soft soil due to consolidation according to radial flow toward SCP and stress transfer also takes place between the SCP and the soft soil. This paper presents the numerical results of cylindrical composite ground that was conducted to investigate consolidation characteristics and the stress transfer mechanism of SCP-reinforced composite ground. The results show that the consolidation of soft clay has a significant effect on the stress transfer mechanism and stress concentration ratio of composite ground
