  • When a structure is constructed at the site composed of soil, the behavior of a structure is much affected by the characteristics of soil. Therefore, the effect of soil-structure interaction is an important consideration in the design of a structure at the site composed of soil. Precise analysis of soil-structure interaction requires a proper description of soil profile. However, most of approaches are nearly unpractical for soil exhibiting material discontinuity and complex geometry since those cannot consider precisely complicated soil profiles. To overcome these difficulties, an improved integration method is adopted and enables to integrate easily over an element with material discontinuity. As a result the mesh can be generated rapidly and highly structured, leading to regular and precise stiffness matrix. The influence of soil profile on the response is examined by the presented method. It is seen that the presented method can be easily used on soil-structure interaction problems with complicated soil profile and produce reliable results regardless of material discontinuities.

  • We consider the problem of optimal adaptive estiamtion of the euclidean parameter vector $\theta$ of the univariate non-linerar autogressive time series model ${X_t}$ which is defined by the following system of stochastic difference equations ; $X_t = \sum^p_{i=1} \theta_i \cdot T_i(X_{t-1})+e_t, t=1, \cdots, n$, where $\theta$ is the unknown parameter vector which descrives the deterministic dynamics of the stochastic process ${X_t}$ and ${e_t}$ is the sequence of white noises with unknown density $f(\cdot)$. Under some general growth conditions on $T_i(\cdot)$ which guarantee ergodicity of the process, we construct a sequence of adaptive estimatros which is locally asymptotic minimax (LAM) efficient and also attains the least possible covariance matrix among all regular estimators for arbitrary symmetric density.

  • In this paper, we deal with the problem of delay-dependent robust and non-fragile stabilization for descriptor systems with parameter uncertainties and time-varying delays on the basis of strict LMI(linear matrix inequality) technique. Also, the considering controller is composed of multiplicative uncertainty. The delay-dependent robust and non-fragile stability criterion without semi-definite condition and decomposition of system matrices is obtained. Based on the criterion, the problem is solved via state feedback controller, which guarantees that the resultant closed-loop system is regular, impulse free and stable in spite of all admissible parameter uncertainties, time-varying delays, and controller fragility. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper introduces two three-dimensional eight-node hexagonal elements obtained by using multivariable variational mehtod. Both of them are based on the modified hellinger-reissner principle to employ incompatible displacements and assumed stresses of assumed strains. The internal functions of element are introduced to as element formulation through two different methods : the first one uses the functions determined directly from the element boundary condition of the incompatible displacements ; while the second, being a kind of B-bar mehtod, employs the modification technique of strain-displacement matrix to pass the patch test. The elements are evaluated on the selective problems of bending and material incompressibility with regular and distorted meshes. The results show that the new elements perform with good accuracy in both of deformation and stress calculation and they are insensitive to distorted geometry of element.

  • Zeolite is a porous highly interactive matrix. Zeolitic cations help to generate triplets from molecules that possess poor intersystem crossing efficiency. Certain zeolites act as electron acceptors and thus can spontaneously generate radical cations. Zeolites also act as proton donors and thus yield carbocations without any additional reagents. These reactive species, radical cations and carbocations, have long lifetime within a zeolite and thus lend themselves to be handled as ‘regular’ chemicals. Internal structure of zeolites is studded with cations, the counter-ions of the anionic framework. The internal constrained structure and the cations serve as handles for chemists to control the behavior of guest molecules included within zeolites.

  • We continue the study of McCoy condition to analyze zero-dividing polynomials for the constant annihilators in the ideals generated by the coefficients. In the process we introduce the concept of ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy rings, extending known results related to McCoy condition. It is shown that the class of ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy rings contains both strongly McCoy rings whose non-regular polynomials are nilpotent and 2-primal rings. We also investigate relations between the ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy property and other standard ring theoretic properties. Moreover we extend the class of ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy rings by examining various sorts of ordinary ring extensions.

  • This paper proposes testable design of sequential NMOS PLAs. The extra bit lines and devices are added to the conventional PLAs. The time is taken to assigning devices in the extra bit lines, which is excessive in the conventional method, is reduced by using the symmetrical distance matrix of the PLA and the regular assigning method. As a result, the test patterns can be easily generated. Also, the silicon area overhead of extra hardware is low.

  • A two dimensional constant geometry FFT algorithms and architectures with shuffled inputs and normally ordered outputs are presented. It is suitable for VLSI implementation because all buterfly stages have identical, regular structure. Also a methodology using shuffled FFT inputs and outputs to halve the number of butterfly stages connected by a global interconnection which requires much area is presented. These algorithms can be obtained by shuffling the row and column of a decomposed FFT matrix which corresponds to one butterfly stage. Using non-recursive and recursive pipeline, the degree of serialism and parallelism in FFT computation can be adjusted. To implement high performance high radix FFT easily and reduce the amount of interconnections between stages, the method to build a high radix PE with lower radix PE 's is discussed. Finally the performances of the present architectures are evaluated and compared.

  • We consider the following type of general semi-parametric non-linear regression model : $y_i = f_i(\theta) + \epsilon_i, i=1, \cdots, n$ where ${f_i(\cdot)}$ represents the set of non-linear functions of the unknown parameter vector $\theta' = (\theta_1, \cdots, \theta_p)$ and ${\epsilon_i}$ represents the set of measurement errors with unknown distribution. Under suitable finite-sample, small-dispersion asymptotic framework, we derive a general lower bound for the asymptotic mean squared error (AMSE) matrix of the Gauss-consistent estimator of $\theta$. We then prove the fundamental result that the general non-linear least squares estimator (NLSE) is an optimal estimator within the class of all regular Gauss-consistent estimators irrespective of the type of the distribution of the measurement errors.
