  • This study aims to find out the geographical distribution, the physical structure and characteristic of Gudle-jang Paddy-field in Cheongsando. On the basis of this study, the potential value and the assignment for the preservation of Gudle-jang Paddy-field were suggested. Gudle-jang Paddy-field is centrally distributed to Cheongsando and has various features as follows. First, it has the Ondol structure which is used Gudle-jang. Second, it has an irrigation canal which has functions of the tank and the prevention of cold-weather damage as well as the irrigation and drainage canal. The values of Gudle-jang Paddy-field are as follows; 1) It is the peculiar and inherent agricultural structure which is only found in Cheongsando. 2) It is the structure that the agricultural civil engineering and the agricultural water management technique of traditional methode are applied. 3) It has the worths of the traditional culture of Korea. 4) It is the important resource creating superb rural landscape of the region. In spite of these values of Gudle-jang Paddy-field, there were little efforts to preserve it. • This essay examines the relationship between counterterrorism within the Lake Chad Basin Commission hereinafter referred to as LCBC and its effects on leaders' tenure in office. The countries of the LCBC, an intergovernmental institution promoting regional integration in the sub-region, established the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) primarily to maintain peace and security. In April 2012 the mandate of this structure was reinvigorated and broadened to manage the ongoing menace perpetrated by the Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram in the sub-region. The political consequences, however, has not been identical for leaders of the member states of the LCBC participating in this counterterrorism operation. This essay primarily relies on secondary data derived from available public data sets in explaining this phenomenon. The phenomenon of leaders in Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad between 2010 and 2018 is used to examine the relationship between counterterrorism in the Lake Chad Basin Commission and its effects on political survival. Results suggest that leaders of highly democratic countries are more likely to lose office and held accountable for either perceived inaction or failure in the counterterrorism operation than their counterparts in autocratic states.

  • The occurrence of geothermal water has high correlates highly with fossil geothermal system. A fuzzy logic based data integration is applied for geothermal potential mapping in the Southern Gyeongsang Basin which is distributed in the regional fossil geothermal system. Several data sets are related with the origin and distribution of fossil geothermal system, such as the geological map, the density of lineaments, the aerial survey map of magnetic intensity, the map of hydrothermal alteration, the distribution density of hydrothermal mines, which were collected as thematic maps for the integration. Fuzzy membership functions for all thematic maps were compared to the locations of the spa hot springs, which were used as ground-truth control points. After integrating all thematic maps, the results of gamma operator (${\gamma}=0.1$) was showed the highest success rate, and new geothermal potential zone is prospected in some area.

  • The German spatial planning has undergone significant changes. The purpose of this study is to describe and to show how the development of spatial planning programs has developed in the Federal Republic of Germany in the last 50 years. However, the aim of this paper is not just to trace certain trends in planning practices, but to investigate their origin including the visions, directions, and purposes according to the each period. The national-level spatial planning could be divided into three phases since the enactment of the first Federal Regional Planning Act (ROG): The heyday of regional planning (1965-1975), the skepticism and crisis (1975-1990), new challenges by German unification and European integration since 1990. After 1965 the federal government has set up a number of frame-setting programs at the federal level to cope with the changing conditions and new challenges.

  • This paper explores changing concept of city in the context of globalization with innovation city and examines the characteristics of innovation city along with regional and national competitiveness. It is agreed that construction of innovation city by relocation of public institutions for balanced development of the country has valid logic. However, there are weak possibilities of innovation within the innovation city. Further more it is not a proper solution for the level up of national and regional competitiveness through this policy. The main logic is that physical relocation of institutions do not guarantee innovation of region through integration into globalization network resulting from the scale difference between nation and globe. Rather this paper suggests that regional innovation policy should performed in accordance with regional conditions and for the better competitiveness of nation and region, decentralization of power is needed. Then a region could have connection with global pipeline based on endogenous development power.

  • The aim of this paper is to explore the trend and structural features of unemployment in Germany and to review the local and regional labour market policy against the unemployment. Unemployment has been one of the major issues in Germany since the oil shocks oi 1973-74 and 1978-80. The unemployment rate in western Germany was low at the time of reunification in 1990 and the next consecutive two years. Since then, the unemployment rate has sharply risen due to the restructuring of industries. In an effort to reduce the unemployment and to search (or new employment policies, the specific roles and advantages of communal units have been appreciated. The local and/or regional labour market policies are characterized as fellows: the corporative networking of all the agents including local administration, education institutes, regional labour bureau, firms and interest groups; the systematic integration of the various instruments which have been separately installed by different sectors; and the target-oriented adjustment of labour market approaches in the local circumstances.

  • This study found that was done to find the commercial and physical distribution system of the agricultural physical distribution center of the agricultural co-operation and considers the receipt region of agricultural, livestock and marine products of the agricultural physical distribution center established for the efficiency and integration of physical distribution by season. And this study clarified the relationship between regional characteristics and regional types of distribution in accordance with the sales of each product. According to the research, the agricultural physical distribution center of Cheongju agricultural co-operation receives agricultural, livestock and marine products from all over the country as the core region in Chungcheongbuk-do and deliveries mainly to some regions in Chungcheongbuk-do, Chungcheongnam-do and Daejeon city. That's e agricultural, livestock and marine products that the agricultural physical distribution center of the agricultural co-operation deals with the required freshness. Therefore, the physical distribution center forms the regional physical distribution system to mainly receive products from the regions where are relatively near the center and to delivery to the nearby region. This delivery of agricultural, livestock and marine product significantly influences the sales strategy as well as the economic principles of demand and supply.

  • This paper examines the life-cycle and birth cohort effect on East Asian supranational identity. This paper also explores how national identity is related with supranational identity among Koreans. Using the 2008 CCGA-EAI survey, we analyze the determinants of supranational East Asian identity. The results suggest several interesting findings. Age and national identity have positive effects on East Asian identity. Among generational cohorts, the democratization cohort were less likely than other cohorts to have East Asian identity. These findings suggest several implications. First, in Korea, unlike other countries in the Western world, the older tend to have stronger regional identity than the younger do. Second, unlike the existing literature, this paper finds that strong national identity (pride) is complementary, rather than substitutive, to supranational regional identity. This warrants further systematic research on the microfoundation on the relationship between regional integration and nationalism in Northeast Asia.

  • This study analyzes the awareness of citizens towards the autonomous integration process between Goesan-gun and Jeungpyoung-gun. According to the survey, the citizens of Goesan-gun agreed on the integration, but the citizens of Jeungpyoung-gun disagreed on the plan. This result is different from the findings of the opinion surveys which were conducted in 2009 and 2012. The reason why some citizens agreed on the integration is that the integration will help more with the systematic administration service and the convenience of administrative process. Also the citizens are expecting the expansion of the convenient facilities and the economic growth through the local festivals. In the political view, it will cut the operating cost of the two provinces. However, there are some reasons for the disagreement of the integration. The first reason is that the independent development will be more beneficial for each province. And it will be more effective if each province separately promotes the local festivals to be more productive. Nevertheless, the citizens in both areas admit the necessity of the population influx and elevating the local economy for both provinces. These two areas are expecting to have the autonomous local economy and the complementary and competitive relationship with the nearby metropolitan councils while building the Jungwon cultural zone which is supported by the regional association.
