  • There is a growing interest in project management knowledge, project management information systems, and process improvement to systematically project execution in public sectors, achieve high performance and value, and increase the effectiveness of the overall industry. In particular, the software industry is a knowledge-intensive industry centered on professional manpower. This study examines the effect of the project managers' competences of regional SW promotion agencies on and project performance and the moderating effect of the level of project management maturity. We collected data using a questionnaire to the project managers of regional SW promotion agencies. In this study, a structural equation model was used to analyze the relationship between project managers' competences and performance. In addition, a multi-group structural equation model was used to analyze the moderating effect according to the high and low project maturity. As a result of the analysis, it was found that only contextual competence among the competences of the project manager had a positive effect on project performance. It was found that technical and behavioral competence did not have a positive effect on management and completion performance. It was found that the moderating effect according to the maturity of business management of local institutions was not significant.

  • Purpose: This study aims to set desirable directions for Korea's egg industry by comparing and analyzing the egg distribution structure and policies between Korea and other countries. Research design, data and methodology: We analyzed the current state of egg distribution in Korea, and based on this analysis, we derived problems. In addition, by comprehensively analyzing the egg distribution structure and policy issues in the US, EU, and Japan. Results: As a result of the analysis of the egg distribution status and policy in the country to be analyzed, it was found that for the development of the egg industry in Korea, it is necessary to unify the distribution system for transparent and stable management of the egg distribution process. It was found that detailed and clear information creation and management of egg production and distribution processes were required. Conclusions: We need to establish a regional egg distribution facility base and stipulate that eggs produced in Korea must be compulsorily traded through the regional facility base. Seemingly, scaling-up of the industry is the priority, but the government is promoting various policies to expand small and medium-sized egg joint markets, with limitations in improving the problems of the existing egg distribution structure.

Yeochon National Industrial Complex(YNIC) was dedicated as an industrial site in 1967 according to a part of the Korean government's plan of developing for heavey chemical industry. Yeochun city has been changed with location and establishment of YNIC since 1969. The establishment of YNIC have influence upon the increase of population and employment, urban development, and growth of regional economy within research areas including of Yeochun city, Yeochun county, and Yeosu city. In addition, with the establishment of YNIC, the regional economical structure was progressed from farm and fishery oriented sector to manufacturing oriented sector, thus the petrochemical business related companies hold a majority among regional manufacturing structure. We used the shift-share analysis and regional growth rate differential analysis in order to examine the characteristics revealed in the transformation of employment and industrial structure. The petrochemical related manufacturing and construction industries provided a great influence on the growth of regional employment.

In Korea, it has been more than 10 years since local governments launched, and they are strategically fostering their specialized regional industries. Both the central government and the regional governments prepare and execute policies to foster specialized regional industries. Though there are many kinds of methods to analyze the outcomes of science and technology of region, in this paper, we measure the outcomes of science and technology of region by applying an informetric analysis on the SCIE papers and USPA patents. To seek for the regional speciality, we analyze the total national outcomes and the regional outcomes of S&T activities in Korea.

  • There have been relatively lots of studies on the relationships beteen port and city. And, most of the recent studies on the subject shows that the relationship between the two parties is weakening. The contributions of a port to the city economy such as convenience of logistics service utilization, cost reduction, creation of job opportunities and value added production etc. are diminishing, whereas negative effects of port such as environmental effects, limitation of waterfront activities etc. have been increasing. On the other hand, port logistics service demand from city economy is decreasing. As for Busan city, the trend of major economic indicators and growth factor analysis results show that there is hardly any relationships between the development of transportation industry(including port logistics) and the regional economy. Especially, it is identified that most regional industry sectors excluding transportation industry failed to secure competitive advantage. Accordingly, it can be concluded that Busan city economy fails to take advantage of advanced transportation industry sector, which supports overall economic activities. On the other hand, it can be a problem for enhancement of port-city relationships that related and supporting industries of transportation industry such as information and communication industry, financial and insurance industry, and processing and assembling manufacture industry fail to secure competitive advantage in Busan city.

  • Increasing ozone concentrations are observed over Japan from year to year. One cause of high ozone concentration in the Kanto region, which includes areas inland from large coastal cities such as metropolitan Tokyo, is the transportation of precursors by sea breezes. However, high ozone concentrations are also observed in the morning, before sea breezes approach inland areas. In this point, there would be a possibility of residual ozone existing above the nocturnal boundary layer affects the ozone concentration in the following morning. In this study, we utilized the Weather Research and Forecasting model and the Community Multiscale Air Quality model to evaluate the effect of regional precursors and residual ozone on ozone concentrations over the inland Kanto region. The results show that precursors emitted from non-metropolitan areas affected inland ozone concentrations more than did precursors from metropolitan areas. Moreover, calculated results indicate downward transportation of residual ozone, resulting in increased concentration. The residual ozone was also affected by precursors emitted from non-metropolitan areas.

  • This study empahsized the nature of spatial patterns, characteristics and embeddeness of foreign business service firms in Korea utilizing questionnaire survey and interview data. Foreign business services firms are active in forming interfirm networks with clients and supply firms in Korea for widening the market share in Korea. But a low proportion of foreign firms is engaged in academies-industry linkages, government organizations, research institutes, and trade associations. Knowledge transfer and interaction also shows low level of network and the regional development of foreign firms is still in the process of developing, not quite embedded yet. Policy guidances and instituional supports are very essential to strenthen interfirm network and collective learning process of foreing firms in Korea lather than mechanical accumulation of investments. Thus, regional foreign direct investment policy should be targeted towards the incrementation of the potential of foreign firms as a knowledge-intensive industry.
