Interfacial Properties of Electrodeposited Carbon Fibers Reinforced Epoxy Composites Using Fragmentation Technique and Acoustic Emission

  • Carbon fiber/epoxy composites using electrodeposited monomeric and polymeric coupling agents were compared with the dipping and the untreated cases. Treating conditions such as time, concentration and temperature were optimized. Four-fibers embedded micro-composites were prepared for fragmentation test. Interfacial properties of four-fiber composites with different surface treatments were investigated with simultaneous acoustic emission (AE) monitoring. The microfailure mechanisms occurring from fiber break, matrix and interlayer crackings were examined by AE parameters and an optical microscope. It was found that interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of electrodeposited carbon fibers was much higher than the other cases under dry and wet conditions. Well separated and different-shaped AE groups occurs for the untreated and ED treated case, respectively.

Validation of a smart structural concept for wing-flap camber morphing

  • The study is aimed at investigating the feasibility of a high TRL solution for a wing flap segment characterized by morphable camber airfoil and properly tailored to be implemented on a real-scale regional transportation aircraft. On the base of specific aerodynamic requirements in terms of target airfoil shapes and related external loads, the structural layout of the device was preliminarily defined. Advanced FE analyses were then carried out in order to properly size the load-carrying structure and the embedded actuation system. A full scale limited span prototype was finally manufactured and tested to: ${\bullet}$ demonstrate the morphing capability of the conceived structural layout; ${\bullet}$ demonstrate the capability of the morphing structure to withstand static loads representative of the limit aerodynamic pressures expected in service; ${\bullet}$ characterize the dynamic behavior of the morphing structure through the identification of the most significant normal modes. Obtained results showed high correlation levels with respect to numerical expectations thus proving the compliance of the device with the design requirements as well as the goodness of modeling approaches implemented during the design phase.

  • 세계 항공기 산업은 2001년 이후 전반적인 세계경기 회복기조 속에서 꾸준히 성장하고 있다. 9.11사태 이후 시 장 위축과 회복 그리고 유가급등과 환경에 대한 요구 증가 등 근래에 들어 과거와 다른 항공기 산업의 시장환경이 조성되었으며, 이에 따라 항공기 산업 내부에서도 완만한 변화가 이루어져 왔다. 지역 간 직접노선 수요와 비정기 항공에 대한 수요 증가는 200인승 급 대형항공기의 수요증가, 주력 중형항공기의 대형화 및 비즈니스제트기와 VLJ 수요를 촉발하였으며, 항공사간의 경쟁 심화와 유가상승 등은 더욱 효율적인 기체에 대한 요구를 증대시켰다. 군수분야에서는5세대 전투기의 개발 및 채용 확산과 함께 그 이전단계에서 기존의4세대 전투기의 수요 역시 꾸준히 이어지고 있으며, 비정규전 과정을 거치면서 무인 정찰기에 대한 수요 및 접근성이 높은 이동수단에 대한 수요가 증대하였다.

고속 터보프롭 항공기용 고효율 경량화 복합재 프로펠러 블레이드 설계 연구 (Design on High Efficiency and Light Composite Propeller Blade of High Speed Turboprop Aircraft)

  • 본 연구에서는 한국의 차세대 중형항공기에 사용될 고속형 터보프롭 항공기용 고효율 복합재 프로펠러 블레이드의 설계를 수행하였다. 와류 이론과 블레이드 깃 요소 이론을 활용하여 기본 공력설계 및 성능 해석을 수행하였고 공력설계 결과는 상업용 전산유체해석 프로그램인 ANSYS를 이용한 해석을 통해 확인 되었다. 프로펠러 구조 설계 시 카본/에폭시 복합재료가 적용되었으며, 경량화와 구조 안정성 개선을 위하여 스킨-스파-폼 샌드위치 구조 형식를 채택하였다. 제안된 프로펠러 블레이드는 공력 및 구조 해석과 시제품 프로펠러 블레이드의 구조 시험을 통하여 높은 효율과 안전한 구조임이 검토되었다.

  • Today distant oceans around the world are regarded as a major 'global commons' for international trade and transportation. Korea is not an exception, because Korea hugely depends on sea lines of communication (SLOC) for supplying vital commodities such as food and energy resource. As a result, assuring a free and safe use of distant ocean beyond territory is also an important agenda for Korea's maritime security. However there are a number of challenges for Korea to enjoy a free and safe use of distant ocean; dangers of regional maritime conflict in East Asia, naval arms race of China and Japan, and concerns on possible decline of U.S naval presence and power projection capabilities. These factors provide a reasonable basis for Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) to pursue capabilities for major naval operations at distant ocean in a long-term perspective toward the year 2030. The introduction of aircraft carrier and nuclear-powered submarine is a key requirement for achieving this goal. ROKN needs to acquire a 'multi-role strategic landing platform' type of light aircraft carrier, which takes a role to escort naval task force by providing air superiority at distant ocean. Additionally nuclear-powered submarine will offer ROKN a formidable power to carry out offensive missions effectively at distant ocean.

중국 항공산업현황 및 전망에 관한 연구 (Study on the Current status and prospects of China aviation industry)

  • According to the prediction of Aviation Industry Corporation of China, in the next 20 years, China will have an increase of 4,583 civilian airliners, including 3,682 jumbo jets and 901 regional aircrafts. Chinese commercial aviation aircraft market will undoubtedly grow rapidly. until the year 2030, China's share of the global aircraft fleet will increase from 9% to 15%. In addition, the business jet market has a huge growing room in the global industry, the deliveries will reach 10,000 units in the next 10 years, and the Chinese market deliveries will reach 23,600 in the next 20 years. China's aviation market, is and will be enormous in the future. It is one of the main engines of economic growth in the field. China's civil aviation transportation is based on dazzling economic development. Air transport is the fastest growing power for the time being. China's aviation sector will have an average annual gross of about 10%, and more likely to continued growing and it is expected to be world's major aviation market around the world. As the result, since one of future the important industries will be emerged, Air policy enforcement and considering the reality of our future prospects for the airline industry presented.

  • 1993년도에 일본 통상산업성이 주최한 해외무역회의가 스페인의 마드리드에서 열렸으며 스페인, 영국, 프랑스, 독일, 이탈리아, 스웨덴 등지의 각국에서 많은 관계자들이 참석하였다. 이 회의에서는 항공기를 대상으로 각국 항공기산업의 현황과 장래에 대하여 토론이 있었으며 특히 각국의 소형민간항공기개발에 대한 발표가 있었다. 일본에서는 75석의 Regional Aircraft로서 YSX에 대해서 일본항공기 개발협회의 사까끼 다쓰로오 상무이사가 발표하였다. 이날 일본의 차세대 민간 항공기의 개발에 대한 발표 내용을 요약, 정리한 것으로 관계업계의 일독을 권한다.

GNSS를 이용한 전리층 기울기 추정 방법 비교 (Comparison of Ionospheric Spatial Gradient Estimation Methods using GNSS)

  • The high ionospheric spatial gradient during ionospheric storm is the most concern when applying GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) augmentation systems for aircraft precision approach. Since the ionospheric gradient level depends on geographical location as well as the storm, understanding the ionospheric gradient statistics over a specific regional area is necessary for operating the augmentation systems. This paper compares three ionosphere gradient computation methods, direct differentiation between two receivers' ionospheric delay signal for a common satellite, derivation from a grid ionosphere map, and derivation from a plate ionosphere map. The plate map method provides a good indication on the gradient variation behavior over a regional area with limited number of GNSS receivers. The residual analysis for the ionosphere storm detection is discussed as well.

  • Responding to rapid changes of global supply chain and fast increasing air cargo volume and demand for e-commerce market, this paper researched the development plans for regional airport specially focused on air cargo logostics through policy research. According to this research, political implications and development plans for Cheong Ju airport (CJJ) to become a part of global supply chain, a regional air cargo hub. Firstly, it is necessary to increase the length of the existing runway from 2,744m to 3,200m or to develop 3rd runway only for a civil aircraft use. Secondly, it is inevitable to develop new air cargo terminal to handle and export such high value-added products as semi-conductor or rechargeable battery through airport. In addition, facing re-shoring trends among global supply chain, CJJ can increase its air cargo volume and also provide feeder service to Incheon airport, inducing global distribution center near airport site.

The Influence of Aerosol Source Region on Size-resolved Hygroscopicity During the Asian Pacific Regional Aerosol Characterization Experiment (ACE-Asia) Campaign

  • Aerosol hygroscopic properties were measured by a tandem differential mobility analyzer (TDMA) system during the Aerosol Characterization Experiment (ACE)-Asia campaign from 31 March to 1 May 2001. Two high flow differential mobility analyzers (DMAs) were used to maximize the count rate on board the Center for Interdisciplinary Remotely Piloted Aircraft (CIRPAS) Twin Otter aircraft. Hygroscopic growth factor distributions of particles having initial dry nanoparticle diameters of 0.040, 0.059, 0.086, 0.126, 0.186, 0.273, 0.400, and $0.586{\mu}m$ were measured during 19 research flights. Data collected during 12 of those flights were used to investigate aerosol mixing state and the influence of aerosol source region on size-resolved hygroscopicity. The uniformity in size-resolved hygroscopicity was quantified to facilitate comparison between measurements made in different air masses. Hygroscopic growth factors are strongly dependent on source region and sizes. Mean hygroscopic growth factors were observed to be greatest when the air mass origin was from the south. The mean growth factors for continental sources decreased with initial size from 1.47 to 1.27 for $0.040{\mu}m\;and\;0.586{\mu}m$, but increased with initial size from 1.44 to 1.8 for $0.040{\mu}m\;and\;0.400{\mu}m$ dry diameters for marine sources.
