Ginseng is renowned for both its medicinal and herbal uses and successful cultivation of Panax ginseng in Asia and Panax Vtiinvtiefolilim in North America has until recently taken place in the native geographical ranges of the plants. As a consequence of the potential high capital return and anticipated increases in consumer consumption, commercial cultivation of American ginseng now occurs well outside the native range of the plant in North America. In fact, the region of greatest expansion of cultivation is in the semi-arid interior region of British Columbia, Canada. Linked with this expansion is the potential domination of the ginseng industry by agricultural corporations. In the interior of British Columbia, the native decidous forest environment of eastern North America is simulated with elevated polypropylene shade and a sllrface covering of straw mulch. The architecture of these environments is designed to permit maximillm machinery useage and to minimize labour requirements. Further, with only a four-year growth cycle, plant densities in the gardens are high. In this hot, semiarid environment, producers believe they have a competitive advantage over other regions in North America because of the low precipitation rates. This helps to minimize atmospheric humidity such that the conditions for fungal disease development are reduced. If soil moisture levels become limited, supplemental water can be provided by irrigation. The nature of the radiation and energy balance regimes of the shade and much environment promotes high soil moistilre levels. Also, the modified environment reduces soil heating. This can result in an aerial environment for the plant that is stressful and a rooting zone environment that is sub-optimal. The challenge of further refining the man modified environment for enhanced plant growth and health still remains.
In this paper, we have constructed phoneme discriminant filters [PDF] according to the linear discriminant function. These discriminant filters do not follow the heuristic rules by the experts but the mathematical methods in iterative learning. Proposed system. is based on the piecewise linear classifier and error correction learning method. The segmentation of speech and the classification of phoneme are carried out simutaneously by the PDF. Because each of them operates independently, some speech intervals may have multiple outputs. Therefore, we introduce the unified coefficients by the output unification process. But sometimes the output has a region which shows no response, or insensitive. So we propose time windows and median filters to remove such problems. We have trained this system with the 549 monosyllables uttered 3 times by 3 male speakers. After we detect the endpoint of speech signal using threshold value and zero crossing rate, the vowels and consonants are separated by the PDF, and then selected phoneme passes through the following PDF. Finally this system unifies the outputs for competitive region or insensitive area using time window and median filter.
Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is one of the worldwide public health problem affecting about 300 million people. The envelope protein of HBV consists of three components known as preS1, preS2, and S antigen. According to the recent study, anti-HBs Ab showed effective neutralization ability against HBV from chronic hepatitis B and liver transplant patients, suggesting the possible development of therapeutic antibody. Methods: Spleen cells immunized with S antigen of HBV were fused with myeloma cell line to obtain HBsAg specific monoclonal antibodies. High affinity antibodies against HBsAg (adr, ad and ay type) were selected by competitive ELISA method. Nucleotide sequence of the variable regions of monoclonal antibodies was analyzed by RT-PCR followed by conventional sequencing method. Results: We produced 14 murine monoclonal antibodies which recognize S antigen of HBV. Two of them, A9-11 and C6-9 showed the highest affinity. The sequence analysis of A9-11 revealed that variable regions of the heavy chain and light chains are members of mouse heavy chain I (B) and light chain lambda 1, respectively. Likewise, the sequence analysis of C6-9 revealed that variable regions of the heavy chain and light chains are members of mouse heavy chain II (B) and light chain kappa 1, respectively. Neutralization assay showed that A9-11 and C6-9 effectively neutralize the HBV infection. Conclusion: These results suggest that A9-11 and C6-9 mouse monoclonal antibodies can be used for the development of therapeutic antibody for HBV infection.
Asian container market, expecially in the NEA(Northeast Asia) region, has been growing continuously according to international specialization of manufacturers. The circumstances surrounding port industry has also been changing rapidly. Global liner and GTO( Global Terminal Operators} have strengthen there market share with M&A and increased entry to Asia market. The competition in NEA have deepen with change of circumstance and the growth of Chinese ports while Busan port decreasing its growth rate and market share. Therefore, this study analysed the change of the port concentration in NEA and the positioning of Busan port by year. In the result, the competitive position of Busan port weakening continuously and loss much volume to competition port, and it suggests that a globalization strategy is essential for making sure of competitiveness based on the result of this paper.

In the heart, excitation-contraction (E-C) coupling is mediated by $Ca^{2+}$ release from sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) through the interactions of proteins forming the $Ca^{2+}$ release unit (CRU). Among them, calsequestrin (CSQ) and histidine-rich $Ca^{2+}$ binding protein (HRC) are known to bind the charged luminal region of triadin (TRN) and thus directly or indirectly regulate ryanodine receptor 2 (RyR2) activity. However, the mechanisms of CSQ and HRC mediated regulation of RyR2 activity through TRN have remained unclear. We first examined the minimal KEKE motif of TRN involved in the interactions with CSQ2, HRC and RyR2 using TRN deletion mutants and in vitro binding assays. The results showed that CSQ2, HRC and RyR2 share the same KEKE motif region on the distal part of TRN (aa 202-231). Second, in vitro binding assays were conducted to examine the $Ca^{2+}$ dependence of protein-protein interactions (PPI). The results showed that TRN-HRC interaction had a bell-shaped $Ca^{2+}$ dependence, which peaked at pCa4, whereas TRN-CSQ2 or TRN-RyR2 interaction did not show such $Ca^{2+}$ dependence pattern. Third, competitive binding was conducted to examine whether CSQ2, HRC, or RyR2 affects the TRN-HRC or TRN-CSQ2 binding at pCa4. Among them, only CSQ2 or RyR2 competitively inhibited TRN-HRC binding, suggesting that HRC can confer functional refractoriness to CRU, which could be beneficial for reloading of $Ca^{2+}$ into SR at intermediate $Ca^{2+}$ concentrations.
International trade environment is rapidly changing. Developing all economic activities included in the value chain of economy out of a particular country or region in the trends where globalization is spreading all over the world, 'a borderless world' has been created and become common throughout the world. Especially, in case of East Asian region, becoming the factory of the world, China has become a center of the world's economic activities in recent years; and the increase of regional investment among East Asian countries and trade expansion focused on China has been the factor of promoting the formulation of a regional trade network. SCM is an efficient way of adaptation to the complexity or uncertainty on the scene through the achievement of a sustainable competitive advantage by integrating the activities of improving the relationships in the supply chain. In this study, Sumitronics, a Japanese company, was studied as a case of the company who had implemented SCM effectively and efficiently utilizing the East Asian trade network. Not being engaged in the manufacturing processes in the headquarter, Sumitronics has implemented SCM which is capable of maximizing the responsiveness upon the requirements of customers by effective information sharing. In particular, the profits of the company have been maximized through SCM by its headquarter in Japan, which is capable of managing each base in East Asia as China and Southeast Asia, etc. Korean companies may also be able to create a new source of profit by dint of establishing SCM as such. The results of this case study has revealed that the implementation of an effective business model is the key of the successful implementation of SCM.

In the knowledge-based economy the innovation through continuous research and development(R&D) is crucial for the economic development and competitiveness of the region or country. The role of university as an institution which creates and diffuses new knowledge and technology should be highly emphasized these days in that context. This study explores the university-industry collaboration. More specifically, technology transfer and knowledge exchange between a university and external industrial partners are examined and the influences of such activities are, then, evaluated in the aspects of innovation and competitive advantages of the industrial partners. The case study on the Chonnam National University indicates that the considerable amount of knowledge and technology developed within the university tended to transferred to local areas, namely Gwangju and Jeonnam region. It can be claimed that the university, at least Chonnam National University, has positive impacts on the regional economy through technology transfer and knowledge share.
Regional information infrastructure(RII) plays an increasingly important role in determining the competitiveness of companies operating within the region. The purposes of this research are (1) to identify the types of RII demanded by the companies operating within Pusan and KyungNam areas in Republic of Korea, (2) to explain the levels of RII demand using variables including organizational environment, organizational strategy, and the importance of information systems for the organization, and (3) to examine whether the types of RII demand are different depending on the competition strategies that companies are pursuing. The most important type of RII that region companies demand is information systems personnel having knowledge in systems control, systems planning, communication network, database administration, and system construction. In addition, demanded are TSDN, satellite communication network, and shareable software and hardware. The levels of RII demand are different depending on the importance of information systems(IS) roles for the businesses. The more important IS role is for a company, the more sharable computing equipments and facilities are demanded. The importance of IS role is affected by the organizational environment and organizational strategy. The levels of RII demand are different also depending on the competitive advantages that companies are pursuing. Companies focusing on achieving short-term and direct benefits using information technology tend to have higher demands on sharable computing equipments and facilities as well as on information communication services. This research is explorative in nature One major limitation of this research, therefore, is that the plausibility of the postulated hypotheses was not examined simultaneously. This research is meaningful in that it first attempted to measure the demands of regional companies for RII.
Surgical treatment of the degenerative disc disease has evolved from traditional open spine surgery to minimally invasive spine surgery including endoscopic spine surgery. Constant improvement in the imaging modality especially with introduction of the magnetic resonance imaging, it is possible to identify culprit degenerated disc segment and again with the discography it is possible to diagnose the pain generator and pathological degenerated disc very precisely and its treatment with minimally invasive approach. With improvements in the optics, high resolution camera, light source, high speed burr, irrigation pump etc, minimally invasive spine surgeries can be performed with various endoscopic techniques for lumbar, cervical and thoracic regions. Advantages of endoscopic spine surgeries are less tissue dissection and muscle trauma, reduced blood loss, less damage to the epidural blood supply and consequent epidural fibrosis and scarring, reduced hospital stay, early functional recovery and improvement in the quality of life & better cosmesis. With precise indication, proper diagnosis and good training, the endoscopic spine surgery can give equally good result as open spine surgery. Initially, endoscopic technique was restricted to the lumbar region but now it also can be used for cervical and thoracic disc herniations. Previously endoscopy was used for disc herniations which were contained without migration but now days it is used for highly up and down migrated disc herniations as well. Use of endoscopic technique in lumbar region was restricted to disc herniations but gradually it is also used for spinal canal stenosis and endoscopic assisted fusion surgeries. Endoscopic spine surgery can play important role in the treatment of adolescent disc herniations especially for the persons who engage in the competitive sports and the athletes where less tissue trauma, cosmesis and early functional recovery is desirable. From simple chemonucleolysis to current day endoscopic procedures the history of minimally invasive spine surgery is interesting. Appropriate indications, clear imaging prior to surgery and preplanning are keys to successful outcome. In this article basic procedures of percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy through transforaminal and interlaminar routes, percutaneous endoscopic cervical discectomy, percutaneous endoscopic posterior cervical foraminotomy and percutaneous endoscopic thoracic discectomy are discussed.
Since Korea has excellent port infrastructure and competitive petrochemical complexes, there is plenty of potential for creating an oil hub in Northeast Asia. In particular, Ship-to-Ship (STS), which creates high added values, contributes greatly to the national economy. In this study, the liquid cargo volumes of chemical industrial products, refined petroleum products, and crude oil were analyzed at the national and regional (Busan, Ulsan, and Yeosu/Gwangyang) levels. Additionally, a Granger causality analysis was performed between imports, exports, and transshipments, in pairs. ADF, PP, and KPSS were analyzed for the unit root test. In addition, the VAR model and expanded VAR model suggested by Toda and Yamamoto were used for further analyses. Findings revealed a difference in Granger causality depending on the region or cargo type. These findings suggest that policies and incentive schemes for ports need to be differentiated according to the region and cargo types. In addition, the different patterns in the relationship between transshipments and import-export petrochemical cargoes should be considered.
