In this paper, a new disparity detection algorithm which is robust to noise is presented. It detects the disparity of an arbitrary pixel through the iterative competition with neighbor pixels in the range of disparity. A diffusion process to improve stereo matching confidence is used prior to detecting disparity of an arbitrary pixel. It is used for aggregating initial matching measure of the difference map. If the image region for matching is too small, a wrong match might be found due to noise. On the contrary, the region is too big, it results in blurring of object boundaries. Therefore, we decide the image region for matching by using the diffusion process for aggregating matching measure, then detect the true disparity with proposed competition method to the distribution of matching measure. Through the proposed method we get the result of improving matching rate of 6.96% with real stereo imge. From the simulation with the stereo imge, the proposed disparity detection method significantly outperforms the conventional method to matching rate.
The purpose of this study is to understand major factors of site selection of convenience stores in Busan and Gyeong-nam Region. This will be done by analyzing correlations of sale, profit and localization factors and choosing the major correlation factors out of them and carrying out regression analysis to analyze each factor's influence extent. the competition factor : It is shown that the competition factor has significant result with the sale and the profit and the effect of that is proved the biggest among all location requirements. Therefore, the competition factor is the most important factors above all. By providing recently standards and implications of site selection of stores, this study suggests a guideline for site selection not only to prep entrepreneurs and store developers but also prep entrepreneurs of retail store.
Asian container market, expecially in the NEA(Northeast Asia) region, has been growing continuously according to international specialization of manufacturers. The circumstances surrounding port industry has also been changing rapidly. Global liner and GTO( Global Terminal Operators} have strengthen there market share with M&A and increased entry to Asia market. The competition in NEA have deepen with change of circumstance and the growth of Chinese ports while Busan port decreasing its growth rate and market share. Therefore, this study analysed the change of the port concentration in NEA and the positioning of Busan port by year. In the result, the competitive position of Busan port weakening continuously and loss much volume to competition port, and it suggests that a globalization strategy is essential for making sure of competitiveness based on the result of this paper.

As unemployment rises and economic growth slows, interest in startups, which is considered to be the driving force of job creation, is increasing. This study aimed to analyze the employment effects of knowledge-based startups in South Korea. In particular, startups were divided into three categories (knowledge-based manufacturing, knowledge-based service, and other industries) and the region were divided into the capital region and the other regions. The result of the analysis, which used census on Establishments Data from Statistics Korea(KOSIS), showed that the employment effects of startups change in three steps over time. When new firms were created, employment increases instantly. However, as the competition among firms increases, some firms exit the market and employment decreases. In the long-term, some firms will survive the market competition and increase their firm size and the number of jobs they offer. The total employment effect was greater for knowledge-based startups than the other industries startups. The total employment effect of knowledge-based startups are 2.84%p for the period of 6 years. Startups in the Capital region showed higher employment effect than startups in other regions. This implies that in the capital region, employment increases more after the startups are created, but due to fierce competition, employment also decreases relatively more than it does in other regions. However, companies that survive competition create more employment. This study may give some policy implications that startup policies should be tailored to the startup's type and regional characteristics in order to achieve more effective job creation performance.
In this paper, we propose an approach to design of optimized Cascade controller for Rotary Inverted Pendulum system using Hierarchical Fair Competition-based Genetic Algorithm(HFCGA). GAs may get trapped in a sub-optimal region of the search space thus becoming unable to find better quality solutions, especially for very large search space. The Parallel Genetic Algorithms(PGA) are developed with the aid of global search and retard premature convergence. HFCGA is a kind of multi-populations of PGA. In this paper, we design optimized Cascade controller by HFCGA for Rotary Inverted Pendulum system that is nonlinear and unstable. Cascade controller comprise two feedback loop, parameters of controller optimize using HFCGA. Then designed controller evaluate by apply to the real plant.

We propose a variational segmentation model based on statistical information of intensities in an image. The model consists of both a local region-based energy and a global region-based energy in order to handle misclassification which happens in a typical statistical variational model with an assumption that an image is a mixture of two Gaussian distributions. We find local ambiguous regions where misclassification might happen due to a small difference between two Gaussian distributions. Based on statistical information restricted to the local ambiguous regions, we design a local region-based energy in order to reduce the misclassification. We suggest an algorithm to avoid the difficulty of the Euler-Lagrange equations of the proposed variational model.

The development of construction industry has led to the increase in the number of criteria imposed by project clients for selecting contractors. For example, clients often request tenderers to satisfy various conditions such as tight programme, financial strength, managerial ability, relevant work experiences, technical strength, high workmanship standard, safety requirement, quality specification, and yet others. This trend has attracted research interests of devising various methods for helping project clients to assess contractors' bids. For example, in recent development, the Works Bureau of the Hong Kong Government has introduced two mechanisms in tender evaluation for various public work contracts, namely, the Marking Scheme effective from June 2002 and the Formula Approach effective from November 2002 [1], [2]. These approaches evaluate a contractor's tender by considering collectively its tender price and performance attributes, the latter including contractor experience, past performance, technical resources and technical content of his proposal. The tender with the highest combined price and performance score (CPPS) will be normally recommended for acceptance. It appears, however, that there is little existing research in helping contractors to identify a competition strategy that enables the contractor to offer his most competitive bid collectively taking into account his resource capacities and project client's multiple performance criteria. This paper examines the factors affecting contractor's competition strategy to compete for works in Hong Kong. The understanding about the factors will contribute to identifying effective competition strategy. The data used for the analysis were collected from Hong Kong construction industry. The research findings may provide valuable references for investigating effective competition strategies in other construction industries outside the region.
Batch test methods have developed for a long time to measure kinetic and stoichiometric parameters which are required to perform steady state design and mathematical modelling of activated sludge processes. However, at various So/Xo ratios, abnormal behaviors of ordinary heterotrophic organism in batch tests have been reported in many researches. Thus, in this research, abnormal behaviors of heterotrophs in batch tests were investigated at various So/Xo conditions by measuring and interpreting oxygen utilization rate. As So/Xo ratio increased, the calculated values of maximum specific growth rates, ${\mu}_{H,max}$ and $K_{MP,max}$, increased. However, at a certain point of So/Xo (around 10mgCOD/mgMLAVSS), ${\mu}_{H,max}$ and $K_{MP,max}$ values started to decrease. According to this observation, three prominent behaviours of heterotrophs were identified at various So/Xo conditions. (1) At low So/Xo region (below 5 mgCOD/mgMLAVSS), the oxygen utilization rate of heterotrophs in batch tests were almost stable and consequently yielded lower maximum specific growth rate. (2) At high So/Xo region (up to 5~10 mgCOD/mgMLAVSS), oxygen utilization rate incresed sharply with time and indicated more upward curvature than the predicted OUR with conventional activated sludge model, which consists of single hetetrotrophs group. Thus, in this region, competition model of two organisms, fast-grower and slow-grower, seemed to be appropriate. (3) At extremely high So/Xo region (over 10mgCOD/mgMLAVSS), significant oxygen utilization rate was still observed even after depletion of readily biodegradable COD. This might be caused by retarded utilization of intermediates which were generated by self inhibition mechanism in the process of RBCOD uptake.
The framework of "blue ocean strategy (Kim and Mauborgne, 2005)" applies to not only business firm level but also region or regional industry level. The paper suggests an approach of survey-based blue ocean strategy formulation. The result from survey on customer group and non-customer group gives information on positions of value curves for regions on strategy canvas and hints on how to reposition the focal region's value curve for both increases in value for customers and decreases in cost for local government, i.e., value innovation. In the context of rafting industry in Korea, this study shows the process how blue ocean strategy can be formulated with results from the survey on customers and business people in rafting industry. Relative positions of value curves on strategy canvas and importance scores for strategy elements provides the local government in region A with implications on which elements to raise or to reduce to create "blue ocean" in rafting industry under fierce inter-region competition.

The purpose of this study is to derive differentiation strategy through strategy competition analysis on public libraries in order to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of libraries. To that end, this study conducted a status analysis, management resources analysis, external and internal environment analysis on four public libraries located in Jung-gu, Incheon to identify the situation of strategy competition, and conducted a competitor analysis, customer segment analysis, and customer value analysis of four public libraries through various library related statistical data, national library operation evaluation data, library user satisfaction surveys, and interview with chief librarian and senior librarians. As the result, this study suggests three differentiation strategies by library. First of all, the four public libraries need to provide customized services targeting different target users within the region. Secondly, public libraries need to develop active library services that directly visit passive users, who are information have-nots, considering geographical accessibility and the composition of the population in the region. Last, public libraries should form a cultural community that cooperate with the local community and develop various programs that reflect the identity of the region.
